trails built for easy riding or extreme off-road action
for ATVs, motorcycles, 4x4s and other trail rigs. Take a
ride on Big Jon, America’s second longest Zip Line,

Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc., was established in 1990 in
Dyersburg when founder Monte Warne created his first
Chevy V8-powered motorcycle in his shop. The
company has grown from its humble beginnings to a
22,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The

View a collection of artifacts about the life and times
of Dyer County and how the community worked,
worshipped and played. Housed in an historic WPA
structure known as the old Dyersburg High School, the
museum is open monthly or by appointment.
Dyersburg Regional Airport

Built as a secondary landing strip for the historic
Dyersburg Army Air Base in Halls, the city-owned
airport is home to local aviators and is the front door
to Dyer County for corporate air traffic. Singer Patsy
Cline made a phone call from the airport during a
refueling stop shortly before her plane crashed in foul
weather near Camden, Tenn., en route to Nashville.

The Dr. Walter E. David Wildlife Museum on campus
features one of each species of duck found on the
Mississippi Flyway. The collection contains more than 70
species of animals from several continents, including
moose, caribou and bears. Dyersburg State is also
famous for its massive dogwood blooms in spring and
100 different species of trees native to West Tennessee
virgin forests. The Richard E. Donner Arboretum and
Nature Trail is also a favorite for people who enjoy the
outdoors. The museum and arboretum are open year
round.

Reality TV star Michael Ballard built the world’s
largest biker bar — the Full Throttle Saloon — in Sturgis,
S.D., and it grew into a household name. Then he built a
genuine moonshine distillery in the tiny town of Trimble,
Tenn., – his childhood home. Using an early 1900s
tradition and recipes, and an authentic copper still,
Ballard creates multiple flavors that are satisfying and
refreshing. His authentic Tennessee moonshine recipe
delivers an 80-proof punch and a taste that's second to
none. Ballard’s 9,000-square-foot distillery sits at the
eastern end of South Main Street where a cotton gin
once stood. Come try S’loonshine and see where it’s
made. The distillery is open for tours 10am to 8pm
Monday through Thursday, 10am to 9pm Friday and
Saturday, and noon to 6pm Sunday.

Great River Road Raceway

Historic Downtown Dyersburg
With the 1911 courthouse as the centerpiece,
downtown Dyersburg is full of history. The courthouse
and 45 buildings in the district are listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. Originally called McIver’s
Bluff, Dyersburg began
on the Forked Deer
River and is connected
to the world by Historic
U.S. Highway 51,
downtown’s main
avenue. Attractions
include The Soldier in
Grey at 101 W. Court St.
and General Strahl’s Cannon on East Court Street.
I-155 Welcome Center
As you enter Tennessee on I-155 from Missouri, stop
by the welcome center at mile marker 8.7. It’s open 24
hours a day.
Lenox Bridge
State Road 182 • Dyersburg
The hand-operated, swing span bridge originally
crossed the Obion River on County Road S8025 west
of Lenox. Built in 1917, it now spans a boat canal in the
Lakewood Subdivision. It is the only surviving “swing
span, pony Pratt through truss bridge” in the country.

of the finest produce in the South sold by the people
who grow it. Located at the new River Park downtown,
the market is open Saturdays and Tuesdays from mid

Newbern Depot

The historic Newbern Depot is much more than a
museum — it’s a working depot with daily Amtrak
stops and a late night visit from the City of New
Orleans. The restored depot acts as a social gathering
place and entertainment stage. The month-long
celebration, Depot Days, happens every September.

Battle of Trenton Driving Tour
and Gibson County Courthouse

A self-guided tour through Trenton’s historic
downtown gives you key locations of the Civil War
Battle of Trenton on Dec. 20, 1862. Along the way, visit
Court Square and the historic Gibson County
Courthouse, which was built in 1899 and features a

available at City Hall.

Historic College Hill Center, built in 1850, is one of
Haywood County’s oldest buildings. It houses three
museums: the Haywood County Museum, Haywood
County Sports Museum and the Felsenthal Lincoln

The Davy Crockett Cabin Museum, the last home of
the legendary hero, features furniture, tools and artifacts from the early 1800s, as well as his mother’s grave.
Restored from the timbers of his home where he lived
from 1822 to 1835, the museum provides insight into
Crockett’s life. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, and
during Davy Crockett Days in October, the museum is
open 9am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday and 1-4:30pm
Sunday. At other times, the museum opens by
appointment.

Discovery Park of America

Discovery Park of America is a 50-acre complex that
offers visitors a world-class educational and entertainment experience with indoor and outdoor exhibits
focused on nature, science, technology, history and art.
The centerpiece is Discovery Center, a 100,000-squarefoot building showcasing 10 exhibit galleries that
include a theater simulation of the 1811-12 earthquakes
that shaped the land in this region and a planetary tour
in the starship theater. It also features a 20,000-gallon
aquarium revealing the underwater life of Reelfoot Lake,
a 60-foot replica of a human

dinosaurs, fossils, Native
American artifacts, military

Dixie Gun Works, pictured below, is the largest
supplier of black powder shooting equipment, parts and
antique guns in the world. Its Old Car Museum is home
to 36 antique cars, as well as thousands of interesting
antique mechanical devices and appendages.

The Elam Caboose

fully restored in 2001 and moved to the Obion County
Chamber of Commerce.
Emerson E. Parks Covered Bridge
Park Plaza • Trimble
Of Tennessee’s four historic covered bridges, the
Parks Covered Bridge is the only one in the western
portion of the state. Originally spanning a drainage ditch
dividing two fields on Parks’ farm, the bridge is the only
known Kingpost truss covered bridge in the state.

207 in Lauderdale County, sits Fort Pillow State
Historic Park — rich in historic and archaeological
significance. Steep bluffs overlook the Mississippi
River, which made this area a strategic location during
the Civil War. The park’s museum, which has artifacts
and interpretive displays, is open 8am-4pm.
Freed House

Visit the historic Victorian home of Julius Freed, a
Confederate solider who was wounded, captured and
held as a prisoner of war until his release in May 1865.
The home is open for public tours, meetings or

A Southern historic village, Green Frog features the
Cotton Museum of the South, Delaney Farmstead and
the antique print shop, Green Frog Press. Other

Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge

The wildlife refuge is 11,556 acres along the scenic
Hatchie River about four miles south of Brownsville. It
was established in 1964, primarily to provide food,
water and shelter for migrating and wintering
waterfowl.

Historic Greyhound Bus Depot Visitor Center

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places,
the bus depot is believed to be one of only three of its
kind still in existence. Built in 1939, the building
houses the local tourist information center and
headquarters for Main Street Blytheville.

Lake Isom National Wildlife Refuge

Lake Isom National Wildlife Refuge was established
as an inviolate sanctuary for wintering waterfowl in
1938 by presidential proclamation. Lake Isom is the
oldest refuge in Tennessee and encompasses some
1,850 acres of migratory bird habitat.
Marijac Memorial River Park

Experience the Mississippi River at the Marijac
Memorial River Park. Only two miles from downtown
Tiptonville, this new park is in a small grove of timber
just below the great bend in the river and features a
scenic overlook, picnic area and boat landing.

Masquerade Theatre Inc. produces musicals,
comedies, dramas, children’s plays, workshops and
concerts. Its formal season begins each spring with a
major musical production followed by three musicals,
comedies or dramas. The Children’s Summer Workshop

fashion shows and concerts during the year.
Mindfield

Mindfield, a massive network of steel artwork off
Main Street, is the life’s work of Brownsville artist Billy
Tripp. He
began the
structure in
1989. It will
continue to
evolve until his
death, at
which point it
will become
the site of his
interment.

Reelfoot Lake State Park

Reelfoot Lake was formed when the Mississippi
River temporarily reversed its flow during a violent
series of earthquakes in 1811 and 1812 on the nearby
New Madrid fault. The 15,000-acre park’s ecosystem is
unlike any other place in Tennessee. Visitors can see
bald eagles and almost every kind of shorebird. In
addition to boating, fishing, camping and hiking,
diverse
species of
animals
and plants
make it a
popular
attraction
for visitors
from
across the
country.
The
visitor’s
center is open 8am-4:30pm seven days a week.

Stanton Cannery

The cannery opened in 1973 to encourage lowincome families to raise gardens and can their excess
for later consumption in an effort to stretch the
benefits of food stamps. Today, it is still a place for
residents to can their vegetables, fruits and meats. The

Tennessee Safari Park

The zoo and park reside in an operational century
farm that began as a land grant from President
Andrew Jackson. It features close-up views of 400
animals from 80 species around the world. The park

Frederick Freed from all over the world, the teapots on

Veterans’ Museum/Dyersburg Army Air Base

Once home to hundreds of Army pilots training to fly
B-17 bombers, the former Dyersburg Army Air Base still
operates a portion of its enormous WWII runway for
general aviation. The runway features replica barracks
and a Veterans’ Museum. The Annual Halls Air Show also
brings back the B-17 and other war birds every August.
West Tennessee Agricultural Museum

The West Tennessee Agricultural Museum is steeped
in the rich history of its region and presents life-size
displays that depict the everyday challenges settlers
faced opening a new territory. The museum is open

Learn why the highway between Memphis and
Nashville is known as the Music Highway. You’ll see
artifacts from music legends Carl Perkins and Elvis
Presley, the home of Sleepy John Estes and Tina Turner’s

West Tennessee Regional Art Center

The only permanent fine arts museum in the region,
the West Tennessee Regional Art Center is in the
restored Humboldt City Hall building. Along with art
exhibits, it is home to the Caldwell and Ewers collections

Saturday by group reservation.
White Squirrel Winery
