Volume 34. No. 14 Round 14 www.illawarrarugbyleague.leaguenet.com.au - Official website of the Illawarra Rugby League www.steelers.com.au - Steelers Club proudly supporting Illawarra Rugby League 20th August 2016 facebook.com/IllawarraCoalRL @IllawarraCoalRL Thirroul Junior ZAC LOMAX, in his initial First Grade game; moves in to tackle Wests’ centre JUNIOR VAIVAI, at Gibson Park. If “favoured” teams of Round 14 matches – Helensburgh, Collegians and Wests – all win; the First Grade semi-finals make-up will be: MINOR SEMI-FINAL – Collegians v. Helensburgh – Saturday, 27 August. MAJOR SEMI-FINAL – Dapto v. Western Suburbs – Sunday, 28 August. Both of these semis and the final (Saturday, 3 September) will be played at Collegians Sports Complex; with all Illawarra Coal grand finals to be staged at WIN Stadium on Sunday, 11 September, The three First Grade clubs that will miss the 2016 play-offs – Thirroul, Berkeley and Corrimal – will all play away games in this week’s matches. Minor premier Dapto has the bye. These three eliminated clubs have greatly contributed to the continued high standard of the Illawarra competition this season. Although Thirroul are expected to be eliminated from First Grade, the Butchers will figure prominently in both the Second Grade and Under 18’s finals series. Berkeley, in their return season to First Grade; and Corrimal, were both very competitive throughout the season. Their respective coaches – AARON McDONALD and BRENDAN REEVES – did an excellent job under difficult circumstances at times. Likewise, Butchers’ coach JARROD COSTELLO; is to be congratulated on the number of Thirroul juniors he introduced into First Grade during the season. 40 mins. each way - time off for stoppages HELENSBURGH Coach: Ryan Powell 1-- Wayne BREMNER 2-- Scott ALLEN 3-- Ben RYAN 4-- Simon MASLANKA 5-- Azan TUROA 6-- Grant SMITH (c) 7-- Mitch McCRAE 8-- Khan SALAMALIKIS 9-- Hayden McCRAE 10-- Steve McCALLUM 11-- Chris SLATER-RAPTIS 12-- Marcus FISHER 13-- Guy GELLATLEY 14-15-- CORRIMAL Coach: Brendan Reeves 1-- Tony PELLOW 2-- Logan YATES 3-- Billy ROBB 4-- Jordan TENCATE 5-- Nathan MATEER 6-- Russell AITKEN 7-- Andrew McGUIGGAN 8-- Fraser ALCOCK 9-- Brody RIGG 10-- Bronson HOANI 11-- Jared BRODERICK 12-- Ty BLANCHETTE 13-- Blair BLANCHETTE 14-- Tom MALONEY 15-- Cal COREY Referee: TYRON JORDAN Touch Judges: MITCHELL BONNIE, GARTH BURLEY Second Grade - 1.30 pm 35 mins. each way - time off for stoppges last 10 min.
