This weeklong course will closely examine and explore the creative side of
both digital journalism as well as movie production. Participants will learn how to effectively craft their own expository writing
pieces, interviews, and even their own creative short movie. Each day participants will learn and discuss various mini-lessons
revolving around both writing and technology (iPad, Mac, and Apple software). Each day also has built in time for students to
explore on their own to have a hands-on learning experience. The first half of the week students will collectively work together
to create, edit, and record a detailed news program containing multiple segments. Each participant will self-select a segment
and given time to research, write, revise, film, edit, and export their segment. All student segments will be combined into a
School News Summer News Special. The second half of the week will be dedicated to a collaborative short movie. Students
will be exposed to a variety of movie making apps. All participant approved movies will premiere on the last day of camp.
As mentioned in the description, Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM we will premiere the School News Summer Special as well as all
of the created movies. Family is invited to attend! If you are unable to attend, we can also provide you with a time-sensitive

Summer Strings is a new program for GV Orchestra students (Grades 512). This program is designed to keep our students engaged in playing
their instruments over the summer. We will meet on four Wednesday
evenings from 6:30 PM -8 PM. The meeting dates are July 13, 20, 27,
Aug. 3.
We understand that students may need to miss an evening session due
to vacation. This is not a problem as the focus of the camp is skill
building and technique retention.
