WS0503 Fact Sheet
The Winston Series CPC collector is a patended Compound
Parabolic Concentrating collector that focuses sunlight onto a
high efficeincy absorber tube. The technology was developed
at the University of Chicago by Professor Roland Winston and
is based on his research in the field of non-imaging optics.
The CPC Collector is a flat plate, non-evacuated, single
pane/glazed panel that measures four by seven feet. The
collector may be ordered with mouting hardware that clips
directly to the aluminum frame wall without the need of any
wall penetrations. The hardware is made to withstand
category five hurricanes (wind loads over 180 mph/94 psf ).
The collector is manufactured entirely in the USA and is
warranted for ten years.

RATING
The collector has been rated for energy output on measured performance and an assumed standard day. Total solar
energy available for the standard day is 5045 Watt-hours/m2 (1600 Btu/ft2) distributed over a ten hour period.
Output energy ratings for this collector based on the second-order efficiency curve are:
COLLECTOR TEMPERATURE
ENERGY OUTPUT
Low Temperature: 35oC / 95oF
21,800 kilojoules/day or 20,700 Btu/day
Intermediate Temperature: 50oC / 122oF
16,100 kilojoules/day or 15,300 Btu/day
High Temperature: 100oC / 212oF
2,500 kilojoules/day or 2,300 Btu/day
