Welcome to my world
Speake-Marin timepieces share a unique contemporary style and design. Yet, with all
my creations there is also a clear connection to traditional watchmaking of the early
20th century and before. My timepieces are a representation of myself as a watchmaker,
reinventing horology in my own way. Though I’m very much living in the 21st century,
my horological influences date from the past.
Speake-Marin is living, breathing watchmaking and my watches are modern classics,
timepieces that will truly endure.

Our history
After qualifying as a watchmaker in London, Peter went to Switzerland to deepen his knowledge of
watch complications at the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Education Program (WOSTEP)
in Neuchâtel. He then returned to London to set up and run the watch restoration department at
Somlo Antiques in Piccadilly and, after seven years spent restoring antique watches, he went back
to Switzerland in 1996. After four years building and developing complications in the Neuchateloise
mountains he opened his own workshop near Lake Geneva at the turn of the millennium. Speake-Marin
was founded in Switzerland in 2002. The visionary talent of its founder ensures Speake-Marin watches
are technically superior and aesthetically unique.
The first watch to bear the Speake-Marin name was a tourbillon pocket watch that Peter christened
the Foundation Watch. The solid design of the case was inspired by early marine chronometers, while
the shape of the hands, the fluted crown, the motif tourbillon cage inspired by a topping tool and the
detailed hand-etched engravings are all features still found today in the Speake-Marin collections.

Our watches’ features
The now iconic Piccadilly case makes Speake-Marin watches instantly recognisable. The Piccadilly case
was named in homage of Peter Speake-Marin’s London-based experiences in antique watch restoration,
and features distinctive lugs, drum central section and a fluted crown.
The Speake-Marin collection includes complications such as chronographs, jumping hours, minutes
repeater, perpetual calendar and tourbillon.

Our know-how
Speake-Marin’s artistic techniques all have their origins in traditional craftsmanship, whether it’s the
finishing on the movements, the enamelling on the dials, the engraving and setting of the cases or the
bluing of the hands.
Speake-Marin’s savoir-faire is firmly rooted in traditional methods, but this does not stop him using
more recent techniques, such as chemical engraving, electro-formage and the latest CNC production
methods and computer aided design software.
Speake-Marin is a by-word for high-end watchmaking savoir-faire.

The Spirit Collection
The elegant timepieces in the Spirit collection have a
distinctively casual, nonchalant air. Speake-Marin’s
watch names for this collection are inspired by the
British military.
The Spirit Wing Commander features a large date
display, a power reserve indicator and an offset
‘topping tool’ seconds wheel, while the Spirit Seafire
is a two-pusher chronograph featuring a date display
and an offset seconds wheel also inspired by the
topping tool.
Their automatic winding function and long-lasting
power reserve mean they can stock enough energy to
endure even the most extreme conditions.

J-Class
The J-Class was influenced by the world’s
oldest nautical race: the America’s Cup. J-Class
yachts embody timeless elegance, longevity
and excellence, associating with the exquisite
watches in this collection.
Speake-Marin has drawn inspiration from the
world of sailing and has dedicated certain models
to the sport by naming timepieces after a famous
yacht. This collection features the Piccadilly case
and explores various facets of watchmaking.
Sobriety with the Resilience, originality with
the Serpent Calendar’s serpentine date hand,
creativity with the Velsheda’s compass-like single
hand, or technical expertise with the Magister.
This year, the watchmaker is expanding his
collection with a new model for women: the
Shenandoah. Speake-Marin has named its first
women’s watch after a yacht dating from 1902.
This timepiece has drawn its inspiration from the
boat’s sleek lines and its royal port, and has been
designed to adorn the feminine wrist day or night.

the story of our founder, Peter Speake-Marin,
through exceptional timepieces. From the most
creative to the most complex complications, the
Cabinet des Mystères recounts the story of a
modern watchmaker.
The Cabinet des Mystères, composed mostly
of unique pieces, presents the Mechanical
Art collection, which features designs based
around meditations on time, as well as the
Fine Art Pieces, which are an expression of
Peter Speake-Marin’s creativity: exploring
new cultures with the Dong Son, metaphysical
ruminations with the Skull watches, a return to
Peter’s roots with the Union Jack or simply the
manifestation of his watchmaking savoir-faire.
