The Summer’s Over!!
Well, as far as Breezy Point Day Camp is
concerned. Camp just flew by this summer. After
eight fun-filled and
exciting weeks, we have to
say goodbye to camp for
the 2009 season. Both Jr.
and Sr. Campers
accomplished so much this
summer. Campers can now look forward to
returning to camp next summer to see old friends
and to make some new ones. They can also look
forward to experiencing all of the fun and exciting
activities that BP has to offer. Maybe next
summer returning campers will try something new
at camp or master something they could not do
this summer. Thank you to all of the great Breezy
Point staff members who went above and beyond
to make this summer so memorable and enjoyable
for every camper! We hope to see you back here
next summer as well.
Mystery Day…
Breezy Point held its annual
Mystery Day on Monday,
August 17th. Sr. Campers had
to figure out what the
mystery day surprise activity
would be from a series of three clues Uncle Bill
provided to the campers last week. The clues
were:
Editor: Linda Gaeman
Reporters: Newspaper Club
Clue #1 – Everyone will have some fun with
Mystery Day Clue #1. You will work hard for
awhile and in the end you will smile.
Clue #2 – Strength and balance are needed this
day, maybe you will sway and sway. But if you are
smart, you may restart.
Clue #3 – Be ready to offend or defend. Look up
and look down. Your eyes and hands must be fast
if you think you’re going to last.
Nadine Clopton of the
SR. Girls was the first
to figure out that the
answer to the mystery
was a blowup, bounce
activity. Nadine’s
prize for guessing the
mystery was a chance
to grab as much cash
as she could from a bucket in 25 seconds, using
only one hand while blindfolded. Nadine got it all.
Way to go Nadine!
Throughout the day on
Monday, each group
from Sr. Camp got to
take a turn on the two
big, blow-up units that
were set up on the
blacktop area. One
was called the
Wrecking Ball and
four campers at a time could stand on the blow up
platforms and try to knock each other off by
hitting them with the blow up wrecking ball that
swung from the top of the unit. The other
activity was called the Defender Dome which was
a big blow up dodge ball/basketball court.
Campers would enter the dome and try to make a
basket with the ball while jumping in the blowup or
they would try to hit them with the gym balls like
in dodge ball. Everyone enjoyed the Mystery Day
activities. What will they come up with for next
year?
see so many parents actively involved with their
children at camp. Parents were able to participate
in all the activities that their children enjoy on a
daily basis. It gave parents the chance to do
something that they might not normally do during
their day such as hit the bike trail at Biking, aim
for the targets at Archery or shoot a hole in one
at Golf. Parents enjoyed an amazing production of
“Mary Poppins” by the Dance/Drama Club. The
group did a wonderful job!
Plaque Contest Winners…
Parents: Please Complete Our
Survey!
On the last day of camp, the
annual Breezy Point Day Camp
survey, as well as an envelope
in which to return it, was
sent home with your camper.
Please, please take a moment to fill it out. The
Breezy Point staff is always looking to improve the
camp. Your comments will be reviewed very
carefully. We hope your child has enjoyed his or
her camp experience this summer and we will be
seeing him or her again next summer!
Parent Visitation Day #2…
Breezy Point Day Camp was jam-packed with
excited parents this past Tuesday. It was BP’s
second Parent Visitation Day of the season and it
was a huge success. It was a hot one on Tuesday
and the extended swim periods certainly helped
the campers cool off. The parents took it all in
stride and enjoyed seeing their children enjoying
everything that BP has to offer. It was great to
Each summer Breezy Point holds it’s annual Plaque
Contest. Each group in Sr. Camp designs an
original, creative and inspiring plaque for their
group. Specialists have the opportunity to create
a plaque as well. An expert panel of judges then
chooses the best plaque for the older and younger
boys’ groups and the older and younger girls’
groups based on group identification, creativity
and participation. This year, the groups outdid
themselves. The competition was very tight which
made the judging extremely hard. Three
dimensional plaques were very popular this
summer. The Marlins plaque with all of the
undersea life and a boat on top with Taylor Swift
took the high honors for the Pondside Girls’
Division. For the Pondside Boys’ Division, the
Yellowjackets took first place with their very
bright and colorful fightin’ Yellowjacket plaque
loaded with stingers. The Tigers were number one
for the Barnside Boys’ Division with their 3-D Like
A Tiger plaque and the Indians rode into the top
spot for the Barnside Girls’ Division with their
beautiful Indian head plaque. In the Specialist
category, The Pool splashed their way to the top
with their Pokemon themed plaque. Thanks to all
of the groups who put their time and hard work
into making this summer’s group plaque
competition really great! The complete list of

Mr. David Show…
One way to beat the heat is to stay in the cool
GNU Building and see a show. That is exactly
what the Jr. Campers did on Friday morning of
last week. Artist and
musician David C.
Perry of Norristown
performed a lively,
interactive kid’s show
with a mix of
puppetry, wacky
humor, live music and
plenty of familiar, favorite songs. The campers
joined in on “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”, “Doe Rea
Me”, “Five Green and Speckled Frogs” and “All
God’s Critters”. Armed with his guitar, props,
jumbo markers and giant sketch pad, Mr. David
kept everyone entertained with his madcap mix of
sing-alongs, super sized drawings and comic antics.
3
There were lots of giggles and wiggles during Mr.
David’s version of the Disney song “Under the
Sea”, from The Little Mermaid. He had everyone
moving and grooving. For his reggae song about
Humpty Dumpty, Mr. David recruited some staff
members to help him out. Joelle Myers, Head
Counselor for the Guppies, Stephanie Talerico,
Assistant Counselor for the Guppies and Sharon
Patrick, the BP
Substitute
Counselor all
helped Humpty
Dumpty fall off of
his wall. Manny
Berry, Assistant
Counselor for the
Owls and Charlie
Frankievich, JC for the Owls added rhythm to the
song by shaking maracas. All of the Jr. Campers,
and counselors too, agree that they would like to
see Mr. David and his show return to Breezy Point
next summer!
Yacht or Not...
It was Breezy Point’s version of the America’s Cup
on Wednesday afternoon. The camp’s annual
Yacht or Not competition was held at the lower
pool. The rules are simple; build a boat out of only
duct tape and cardboard boxes. The boat had to
make it down one length of the pool with two
people in it. Each group put a great deal of
thought into their design and lots of duct tape.
Some used cardboard paddles while others made
seats for their captains. Many named their boats
or put designs on the outside. Judges were on
hand to inspect each winning boat to insure that it
met the rules and
that no illegal
materials were
used in the
construction of
the boat. Before
the race, each
group’s boat was
announced along with names of the captain and
first mate. The Girls went first. In the Pondside
Girls’ contest, there was plenty of competition.
The Sr. Girls, whose boat was named the
Batmobile and was captained by Lizzy Hobbs and
Hannah Foster, made it down the length of the
pool first, beating out the Marlins’ and Leopards’
boats. For the Barnside Girls’ groups, the Hawks
and their boat, the S.S. Hawk, paddled their way
to victory. Georgia Young and Isabel CoulterDaly really worked put their all into it to beat out
the Fawns and the Indians. Next, were the boys.
There was a lot of confidence and chest thumping
with this group, but in the end, the Vultures were
victorious, winning the Barnside Boys’ category.
Their Vulture City
yacht was captained
by Roman Sheridan
and his first mate,
Noah Stein. Finally,
the Older Boys were
up. The
Yellowjackets’ vessel,
captained by Austin
Snyder and Ryan Karabell, sailed to an easy
victory in this race. They even turned around and
went back to the start again while the Sr. Boys’
and Zebras’ boats were disintegrating all around
them. It was a great effort by all groups and a
huge amount of fun!! Better luck next year to
those whose boats sunk and never even made it to
the other side. Here is the list of winners:
Barnside Girls:
Hawks
Barnside Boys:
Vultures
Pondside Girls:

Mystery Message Winner #7
Well, the CITs ended their summer with a bang.
Their day started with a special breakfast in the
CIT Clubhouse. There they feasted on juice,
doughnuts, bagels and breakfast pizza. This gave
them all a great kick-start to their day. Then it
was off to the
normal camp
schedule as usual.
But the fun was not
over yet. Later that
night, the CITs and
some Sr. Girls and
Sr. Boys met at Beat
Street in Huntingdon Valley for an end of summer
dance party. There they ate pizza, danced and
played games. They also had the chance to
reminisce about the events of this summer and
start the long goodbye to all of their camp
friends. Everyone had a great time!

You won’t want to
miss any of it!!
Congratulations to Nicole Edelman
of the Hawks for being the first to
correctly identify the mystery
message that was encoded in Week
#7’s edition of The Pointer. The
message from last week was “We will be sad to say
goodbye to Breezy Point Day Camp next week”.
Nicole’s name was announced at Monday morning’s
line-up and she was awarded a prize for solving the
hidden message. We hope you liked finding the
Mystery Message each week. Look for this and
other fun games in next summer’s Pointer
newspaper.

and posed the following question to campers:
Would you rather play baseball or tennis baseball?
Both activities are
very popular at
camp. This one,
believe it or not,
ended up in a tie
with the vote of 60 for baseball and 60 for tennis
baseball.

Editor’s Note…
From: Linda Gaeman
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
everyone who contributed to The Pointer this
summer. The counselors and specialists did a
super job of getting me updates from their group
or activity each week. The Newspaper Club
worked very hard everyday getting the interviews,
shout outs, photos and surveys that make The
Pointer so much fun. I hope they enjoyed
Newspaper Club as much as I did. Congratulations
to Kiley Gurysh of the Hawks for being named
MVP of the Newspaper Club. She always
participated, had great ideas and was always happy
and pleasant during Club. Special thanks to Karen
Nobel, Samantha Clearfield and Kelsey Fillippo
for helping out with the Newspaper Club this
summer. To the staff who are teachers and to
the campers, good luck in school this year. To the
staff that are moms like me, good luck with the
homework, projects and car-pooling this winter.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and I hope to see
everyone back at camp next summer!

to the needy.
Archery Wrap Up…
From: Jim O’Neill
2009 was another great
summer down at Archery.
Campers have played TicTac-Toe, King of the Hill and
Hit the Number. While

Tennis Time
From: Jack Brenner
This week we had the first annual Wimbledon at
Breezy Point Tennis Tournament. This was
originally supposed to be held during the Girls’
Overnight but it had to be postponed due to
darkness. The four girls’ groups
that competed in the
competition were the Sr. Girls,
Marlins, Leopards & Indians.
Going to the final round from
each group were Madison
Henschel from the Sr. Girls, Emma Brown from
the Marlins, Julia Simon from the Leopards and
Taylor Plenty from the Indians. Madison
Henschel took the top honors, Emma Brown came
in second, Julia Simon took third place and Taylor
Plenty came in fourth. Each girl will receive a
trophy for their awesome tennis achievement. It
certainly has been an exciting summer at Tennis.
See you all on the courts next summer!
Sr. Arts & Crafts Update
From: Andrea Bertman & Ashley Wright
As our summer comes to an end, we thank all of
our campers and staff for a wonderful season.
We’ve made some fantastic projects this summer
such as tye dying, ceramics,
model magic, paper mache and
painting various types of
crafts. We have high
expectations for next summer
and look forward to making new
and exciting projects. We wish
the best of luck to all of our
campers in the upcoming school year. Thanks for
an awesome summer. We hope to see everyone
next summer!
Pond & Boating News…
From:Bryan Hoelzle
We had an awesome summer at the
Pond. Campers have seen all kinds
of wildlife here including frogs, an
eel and a turtle that would try to snatch their
fishing bait. Unfortunately, we lost “Big Bob”, the
39 inch long carp that lived in the pond, due to the
bad storm that occurred back in Week #6.
10
I wanted to say that it has been a
pleasure fishing and boating with all
of the 21 groups that visit the Pond
each week during camp. I hope
everyone has an enjoyable and productive school
year. I will miss you all!
Golf News…
From: Mike Fiore
Many of the BP golfers were sad to see Tiger
Woods lose the PGA Championship at Hazeltine.
The Owls, Aiden Stein, Jacob Henschel, Jack
Rallis, and the Nighthawks, Kyle McEwen, Connor
Elliott and Luke Vanderpool, realized they had to
practice harder to play as well as Ye Yang. The
Beavers, Lauren Thomas, Kyra DelSignore and
Susan Huang, continued their string of hole in
ones. In the Possums, Liam Garcia, Connor
Blimm, Alex Martin and Bode Wildgrube, all shot
well. The Vultures got to try driving waffle golf
balls for the first time. In the Yellowjackets,
Jake Kind, Austin Snyder and Billy Young all did
well in our nine hole prize challenges. The Turtles
did an awesome job on the course with the help of
their counselors. Sanoe Wildgrube, William
Paris, Catherine Fiore, Taylor Gurysh and Haley
Maher all had a great time. The Hawks, Fawns
and Indians always tried their hardest and the Sr.
Girls always came to compete. Aaron Einbinder of
the Tigers was this summer’s MVP of the Golf
Club. Next year, we all hope to improve our
scores. Have a great school year!
Dance & Drama Update…
The combined Drama and Dance clubs presented a
charming, abbreviated version of “Mary Poppins”
this past Tuesday, during Parent Visitation Day.
Both Club leaders, Dawn Foster and Judy Hodges,
were very pleased with the dedication of all of the
club members. Although last month’s presentation
included the talents of 25 campers, this time the
cast consisted of only 10 campers. Also, this
month had many more activities such as Carnival
Day, Decathlon and field trips that conflicted with
rehearsal time. Stars of the show were Nicole
Naticchia, Kelsey Waltz, Skylar Montague,
Georgia Young, Sydney Beeler and Julia Hodges.
Also in the cast were Angellina Dowd, Gabrielle
Badessa and Taylor Williamson, with help from
Nancy Santarsiero and Stephanie Krauss.
From among all of this talent, the club leaders had
to select only two MVPs for the season; one from
Dance and one from Drama. Julia Hodges brought
the part of Simon Sour to wicked life in our first
show, “Breezy Point’s Got Talent”, and Julia
prepared for the parts of both Winifred and Bert
in “Mary Poppins”. She willingly gave back the part
of Bert and assisted Kelsey Waltz in learning the
staging when Kelsey came back from vacation.
Skylar Montague was dizzy fun as Paula Idol in
“Breezy Point’s Got Talent” and she gave her all
daily (complete with hugs and smiles) at rehearsals
for the part of Jane in “Mary Poppins”. Even on
the day after the Girls’ Overnight, her
performance did not lack for energy or
enthusiasm. Dawn and Judy both agreed that
these two girls were exemplary members of the
two clubs and deserved the MVP honors. Way to
go girls!
Clinic & Sports Games Wrap Up
From: Joe, Sandy, Matt, Carl, Dan & Dom
As summer turns to fall, our BP campers have
enjoyed a camp season full of skills and drills and
athletic activities. We have seen the Jr. Campers
work on eye-hand coordination and develop a level
of self-confidence. Our Sr. Campers had an
opportunity to engage in team sports (Archery,
Newcomb, Tennis & Softball) and represent
Breezy Point, here and at other camps. They also
participated in weekly Sports Games. A few of
the favorites were tennis baseball and softball.
The Athletic Staff hopes everybody had a great
time this summer at Clinic, Sports Games and
Camp Competitions. Continue to improve your
game, but most of all have fun! Have a great rest
11
of the summer! See ya next year! We love
sports!!

During Week #7, the Jr. Campers made drums or
visors in Jr. Arts and Crafts. They also
experienced “dread
lock” painting in honor
of the Reggae Music
theme. The theme for
the eighth week of
camp was California
Surf Music so the Jr.
Campers created sand
art.
It is hard to believe this is Week #8 already. The
summer has flown by and we hope all of Jr. Camp
had tons of fun making cool things in Jr. Arts &
Crafts. Thanks for a fabulous summer. Have a
great school year. See you in 2010!!
Life At The Swim Club 2009…
From: Bob Boffa
Eight weeks. 39 days. No matter how you count it
down, summers make memories. There have been
many memories made by campers who visited the
Breezy Point Swim Club this summer. The most
common memory for the boys is of their wall ball
competitions. No matter what weather conditions
we had, it seemed
that there was always
activity on the wall
ball court, especially
on Wednesdays when
the Zebras visited the
pool. However, the
Sr. Boys, Unicorns,
Vultures and Yellowjackets also enjoyed their fair
share of wall ball games.
All of the campers enjoyed swimming and
sunbathing at the Swim Club. Many spent their
days at the pool playing Marco Polo, pool
basketball, cooling off in the water or basking in
the warm sun. Some
campers will
remember the time
they spent at the BP
Snack Bar, munching
on some fries while
sharing conversations
with their summer
pals.
I will personally remember all of the groups
creating and rehearsing their cheers for the
Spirit Day competition. All of the boys did well,
but the girl groups consisting of the Sr. Girls,
Marlins, Leopards, Indians and Hawks, all put
together carefully choreographed cheers to show
off their Breezy Point pride. For several weeks
after the competition, the girls continued to show
their spirit by still chanting these cheers and even
singing the cheers of their rival bunks. It was
truly remarkable to see these girls embrace the
work of their peers.
I think all who came to the BP Swim Club will think
fondly of their time spent here during the summer
of 2009. I know I will and I thank all of the
campers for the opportunity to share in these
memories!
The Splash from the Pool
From: The Pool Staff
Wow! It is hard to believe the
summer of 2009 has flown by
so quickly. So long to the Sr.
Girls and Sr. Boys who have
graduated from Instructional
Swim forever. Forget about
penguins, the Hawks and the Vultures are now the
new swimming birds! The younger Nighthawks and
Owls were not too far behind though. The
Leopards are easy to spot diving into the bottom
pool every chance they get and the Possums are
very much alive in the upper pool! The Pool staff
has had a great summer and hopes everyone has an
12
awesome school year. We can’t wait to see you all
in 2010!
Group Updates….
Because this is the last week of camp, The Pointer
will feature a wrap up on the activities and
happenings of all of the groups at camp. Here’s
how it all turned out for the groups of this 2008
season of Breezy Point Day Camp…
Guppies…
The Guppies had a great 2009 camp
season! They enjoyed themselves everywhere
they went around Breezy Point. From BreezyTown
to Wiiki Wami, the Guppies always had big smiles
on their faces. We had a great time getting to
know each child and hope everyone has a great
school year! We hope to see everyone back at
camp in 2010!
Beavers… Week #8 was a huge success for our
Beavers! Dylan Stein and Lauren Thomas had a
blast at Waterplay, cooling each other down, as
well as the rest of the group! Hanna Plantz and
Lea Wang loved playing in BreezyTown. Jennifer
Wang and Erin Hagenbuch enjoyed making sand
art at Arts & Crafts. Susan Huang and her team
were the winners at the Breezy Point Game Show.
Carys Moore couldn’t get enough of the zip line
down at Wiiki Wami. Brynne Taranto took a ride
at Boating for the last time this summer. Audrey
Fisher rode the new pony, Johnny, at Nature and
had a blast! We would like to thank all of the
parents that came to Visitation Day last Tuesday.
We know it was extremely hot and we really
appreciated all who came, and so did the girls! As
we all know, Week #8 has come to an end which
means that camp is over for the 2009 season 
All of the counselors would like to say a huge
goodbye to all of our Beavers! We will miss all of
you so much and we hope they had a wonderful
time at camp this summer! We wish all of the
Beavers an enjoyable rest of the summer. Good
luck during the school year.
Nighthawks… The Nighthawk’s had a wonderful
Starfish…
The Starfish had such a fun-filled
summer playing with all of our new and old friends.
Our favorite place in camp had to be the Pool and
Water Slide. We would like to give a big thanks to
all of our Starfish families. We’ll miss you Zach,
Evan, Max, Yufeng, Colby, Maddie, Riya,
Peter, Ryan and Oliver. Have a great time in
school this year!
Turtles… Miss
Lisa, Miss Jasmine, Miss
Diane, Miss Katya, Miss Alison and Miss Lydia
want to say a big thank you to all of the Turtles
for a wonderful summer! We really enjoyed
getting to know all of you and hope to see you all
back here at camp again next summer! Have a
safe and happy school year!!
summer. We were extremely busy making friends
and learning new activities. The hands down
favorite activity for the Nighthawks was the
Water Slide. The boys enjoyed racing each other
down the slides and splashing each other at the
bottom. The second favorite was Archery. All of
the Nighthawks learned how to properly shoot an
arrow. Many of
the boys shot
bulls-eyes.
Way to go
boys! All of
the boys
learned to swim
this summer, if
they didn’t
know already. Most caught a fish at the pond. We
created many art projects and mastered the ropes
at Adventure. All in all, it was a great summer.
13
We the counselors are going to miss each and
every one of the boys and wish them all a
fantastic year in school. Hope to see you all next
summer!!!
Butterflies…
Sadly, camp is coming to and end,
but it has been another great summer for the
Butterflies here at Breezy Point Day Camp. The
Butterflies had so much fun splashing in the pool
and playing with all of their friends. We wish
everyone a great school year and can’t wait to see
everyone back again next summer!
Tadpoles… Each of the Tadpoles counselors had
their own message to send to all of the Tadpole
campers and parents:
Mrs. France: This summer has been very special
because I have known many of you since last
September. We have formed a tight bond and I
will miss you all. I hope your summer was full of
good memories, just like mine was. I hope to see
you next summer at camp!
Ms. Jessica: Hey Tadpoles & Parents. This
summer was so much fun! I truly enjoyed being
the Assistant Counselor of our group. I am going
to miss you all but I hope to see you back here
next summer. Have a wonderful school year!
Miss Ashley: I loved working with the Tadpoles
this summer. They made the summer a lot of fun.
Our group was so awesome. I will miss you all!
Miss Natalie: This summer has been so awesome
with all of the Tadpoles. I loved spending time
with them and learning new things about them. All
of you are wonderful and have great personalities.
I am going to miss you!
Miss Michaela: This summer has been a great
experience for me. I have had a great time
working with the Tadpoles. This was my first
experience in Jr. Camp and the Tadpoles made it
so much fun! I am going to miss you all so much! I
hope to see you again next year.
Miss Erin: Working with the Tadpoles this
summer was a great experience and had a positive
effect on me as a person. I have always loved
working with little kids. Every child was a pleasure
to be around and I love each and every one of
them! Coming to camp everyday was uplifting
because I knew I would walk in seeing my little
Tadpoles’ smiling faces calling “Miss Erin is here!”
I look forward to seeing and/or working with your
children again next summer. Thank you and best
of luck this coming school year!
Chipmunks… We had a great summer and a lot
of fun. Thanks to our entire Chipmunk staff for
doing such a wonderful job. I could not have done
it without you. Good luck to all of the Chipmunks
in Kindergarten this September. Have a great
school year. I hope to
see you all again next
summer! From Head
Counselor, Amy Maher
Caterpillars… We can’t believe the summer at
Breezy Point is over. The Caterpillars really
enjoyed their first camp experience and want to
say “Thank you Mom and Dad for sending us here
and we hope we can come back again next
summer!”
Owls… The Owls had a great summer together.
The summer was filled with many exciting events.
From Street Hockey to Fun Yard, the Owls
worked together to have the best summer
14
possible. Hopefully, all of our little Owls will
return to camp next year as Possums. Have a
great school year!
Possums… From all of the Possums staff to all
of the Possums campers, thank you for the
summer of excitement. Have a great year in
school. See you on the Sr. Camp side next
summer!!
Fawns… The Fawns had an awesome summer!
We
loved everything from Arts and Crafts and
Archery to Adventure and learning how to play Ga
Ga and Newcomb. We will miss all of the girls.
Good luck girls in school this year and enjoy the
rest of your summer!
Sr. Boys… Though this will be our last year as
campers, it will not be one that is soon forgotten.
The SR. Boys have had a glorious summer, full of
wins. We finished strong this week, bouncing
around for Mystery Day and then heading to the
Swim Club. Our Yacht or Not entry turned out to
a “not” but what do you expect from a boat named
“The Anchor”? Have a great year in middle school,
boys. See you next year as CITs!
Hawks…
Unicorns… The last week of camp has been a
hot one and we’ve had extended swim everyday.
Almost all of the Unicorns have taken advantage
of the Pool. Grant Kind, Craig Fox, Cole Grife,
Nathan Olhasso, Matt Steele, Zach Taub,
Parth Mody and Bobby Gergal enjoyed being
cannonballs shot out of the water by JC, Billy
Schoenberg and new counselor, Stephen Boser.
The Unicorns also had a blast jumping on the
counselor’s backs when they were not looking.
What a great way to end a great summer! Good
luck in school, boys. Hope to see you again next
summer!
We had an amazing finish to the Hawks
wonderful summer. We casted off and sailed to a
first place finish for the Barn Side Girls’ groups in
Wednesday’s Yacht or Not competition!!! I knew
you girls had it in you! Thanks to Isabel CoulterDaly and Georgia Young for swimming their
hardest to the finish! You were awesome! Other
winners this week were Maddy Karabell for Last
Girl Standing in Game Room. Katie Irelan and
Morgan Snyder were Archery champs along with
Georgia and Isabel. Hannah Binder beat her dad
in Ga-Ga on Parent Visitation Day. (Thanks to all
the parents who braved the heat and joined us.)
Marissa Hsu was this week’s Lucky Sandwich
winner, who also caught two fish on Tuesday at
Fishing. Angellina Dowd won Snapple and did a
fabulous job in the play, Mary Poppins, along with
Gabby Badessa and Georgia. (Thanks to Gabby’s
mom for paddle boating with the girls.) Kiley
Gurysh won the Newspaper Club MVP Award for
being camp’s reliable, roving reporter. Last, but
certainly not least, Nicole Edelman won Friday’s
Pointer Mystery Message, which was, “We will be
sad to say good-bye to Breezy Point Day Camp
15
next week.” What a terrific way to end this
article! We are ALL extremely sad to see the
summer end and to leave our fantastic Hawk
friends. It’s been a marvelous time with many
memories. Hope to see you all in 2010!
Indians… This year with the Indians was a blast.
It seems as if only yesterday camp had only just
begun. The Indians had a great summer this year
starting off with a win in the Cheer competition.
We also took first in the Decathlon and was
awarded a cool ice skating trip! Finally we placed
first with our unique plaque created out of
feathers, plaster and beads combined to make an
Indian head dress. Thank you Indians for such a
great summer! Enjoy your school year and try not
to work too hard! Come back for more fun next
summer!
Marlins…
The Marlins had a fantastic time this
summer here at camp. Our favorite activities
were Adventure, Arts & Crafts, Pedal Cars and
the new and improved Barnasium! All of the
Marlins counselors would like to wish the best of
luck to all of our girls in the upcoming school year.
We hope to see you all again next summer!
Tigers…
Sr. Girls…
We all had a great summer. The
Brunswick Zone was awesome. Lizzy Hobbs and
Hannah Foster paddled and kicked their way to
victory in this week’s Yacht or Not competition.
Our last year as campers was great. We can’t wait
to be CITs next summer! Have a great year in
school!!
Looking back at this past summer here
at camp, everybody had a lot of fun and made
many new friends. In addition to making new
friends, the Tigers did tons of fun activities such
as, Shane Stoltz and Justin Walraven steering
our ship in the Yacht or Not Competition, Cyrus
Habas chowing down in the Pie Eating Contest,
Alex Heintz dominating the bases in the Run the
Bases game and Dylan Campbell crushing the ball
in Homerun Derby. Everyone has shown that they
have the skills to excel in all sorts of activities.
Now that camp is coming to a close, take time to
stop and realize that there are just 44 short
weeks until the start of the 2010 camp season.
See you then!
Leopards… I could not have asked for a more
loving and outstanding group of girls. They kept
me coming back for more every single day. These
21 incredible Leopards and I spent an
unforgettable summer together and it is
unquestionable that they will be in my heart
forever. Thanks for making me smile and laugh
everyday. Remember, anything is possible if you
just believe! Continue to be yourselves and always
be thankful for your friends and family.

Vultures… To all of the campers in the Vultures,
I want to thank you for a great summer. All of
your energetic and enthusiastic participation in
the scheduled activities and special events has
certainly made my summer great and has helped
make Breezy Point the wonderful camp that it is.
I want to wish you all the best of luck during the
upcoming school year. Go Vultures!! From Head
Counselor, Bill Fell
Zebras… Although I came late in the camp
season, everyone at Breezy Point and especially in
the Zebras, has made me feel welcome. There was
certainly never a dull moment with this group, but
I am glad I was able to get to know each of the
boys by being their counselor and their friend.
Whether it was tennis baseball, biking or wall ball,
we always had fun. I wish everyone at camp,
especially the Zebras and their families, a great
school year and I hope to see all of them again
next summer! From, Chris Fernandez
