The Edelweiss Band will return to this year's Tiburon Oktoberfest on Friday, September 26.
The band members, who will be dressed for the occasion in native lederhosen, will present
music from Germany, Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland with polkas, Swedish hambos,
waltzes and schuhplattlers. Over the years, this band has performed all over Europe
and the Panama Canal. Recently, they performed in Vienna and throughout Austria and
Switzerland.
The band members are all accomplished musicians: Tony Raymonn is the band leader who
lives in Napa by way of Switzerland. He has been playing the accordion and yodeling
for over 50 years beginning at age 16. When he came to the U.S. in 1960, he formed "The
Edelweiss Band."
Otto Dittman, the sax player and vocalist is of Bavarian and German decent who came to
the U.S. to attend college. During this time, he also performed with his family's German
band. Later, he toured Korea, performing in the 24th Division of the Army Band. Gary
Sommerfeld, the band's drummer and vocalist, is of German decent. He learned music
from his father who was a renowned and highly accomplished accordionist. Gary has been
playing since he was a three-year-old.
Dick Bowman plays trombone and tuba and is a vocalist with over 50 years to his credit.
He has performed with such groups as The Internationals and The Alpiners. Hailing from
German heritage, Dick currently lives in Piedmont. Mike Sarkisian, who lives in'Sacramento,
plays trumpet, banjo and sings. Renee Sommers plays the Alpenhorn.

Eileen and Frank's eight-year old son Brian, 12-year-old
Tibetan terrier "Buffy" and Eileen's mother Alice help

quite lucky to have a successful business in this difficult
economy.

Bank ofMarin' s 15thAnnual Spirit of MarinA wards Luncheon
will be held on Friday, September 26,11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This event recognizes the achievements and volunteer spirit
of local businesses and business people. The honorees are
chosen by the 12 Marin County Chambers of Commerce. Our
awardee is Larry Hadley, owner of Robinson, Ireland and
Hadley, Building Contractors. Larry and his crew have been
a major contributor to the success of the Belvedere-Tiburon
Chamber of Commerce for many, many years. The event will
be held at Father Ghiroso's Courtyard, St. Vincent Drive, San
Rafael. Reservations are $50 per person. On-line reservations

On Sunday, October 5, the Town of Tiburon will, once again,
be full of swimming enthusiasts from around the world. Over
850 of these athletes will swim the one-nautical-mile from
Ayala Cove Beach on Angel Island to the Corinthian Yacht
Club beach next to Sam's Anchor Cafe in the RCP Tiburon
Mile Open Water Swim. This year's event will benefit
Hospice by the Bay. For complete registration information,

The Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry Sunset Cruises will run
through October 18, with cruises on Friday and Saturday
evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Adult tickets are $20, children

on Saturday, September 13.
