The blacksmith applied for a grant of 1,200 Danish kroner, constructed an oil-fired kiln and bought a second-hand mechanical blacksmith’s hammer. Then he went into production, although this stopped during the war. In 1946, the firm acquired a large new blacksmith’s hammer and from then on, the blacksmith could concentrate on designing the right grinding paper for polishing the trowels. He succeeded, and the two machines are in use today. In 1969, the blacksmith transferred the business to his sons Gunnar and Knud Sass-Petersen, who continued the business in the same spirit as their father. This department was managed by Uffe Sass-Petersen, who was the third generation. In May 1986, the business was sold to Poul Erik Møller and Uffe Sass-Petersen, and at the same time the company relocated to Avnvej in Herning, Denmark. They remained in partnership until 1992, when Uffe Sass-Petersen left in pursuit of other challenges. Poul Erik Møller developed new products over the years. In 2004, Poul Erik Møller decided to retire, and Arne Jensen took over the business. Development of the range was essential for the survival of the business, and over the next few years, Arne Jensen’s philosophy for Eskimo A/S to be in a position to supply everything for the bricklaying trade became a reality, as the range expanded to include several new products like hand tools, tile cutters and paving tools.
