READ BEFORE YOU START
Vintage Keeper wine cooling units must be installed
precisely as directed in the Manual. DO NOT attempt to
install this unit before reading the Manual!
DO NOT INSTALL THIS UNIT THROUGH AN EXTERIOR WALL!
Vintage Keeper units must ventilate to an adjacent INTERIOR space, NEVER to OUTDOORS! The area in which
Vintage Keeper vents its warm air must be completely
unobstructed.
DO NOT install this unit in an enclosure where ANY surfaces are uninsulated or unprotected by vapor barrier.
Especially in basement or other below-grade locations,
ALL surfaces (walls, floor and ceiling) must be insulated
Wine Cellar
to at least R-20 and protected by vapor barrier on both
sides. Uninsulated concrete floors will radiate heat and
humidity during summer months, forcing the unit to work
much harder than necessary, WILL shorten the life of the unit, AND WILL PRODUCE EXCESS CONDENSATION.
The Digital Sensor, which is encased in a vinyl cap and permanently mounted on the front of the unit, must
not be modified or handled. The Sensor will read and
respond to changes in AIR temperature in the enclosure, to ensure most efficient operation and ideal
storage temperature control. DO NOT attempt to
modify the sensor to read liquid temperature.
VINTAGE KEEPER units must be cleaned as directed,
at least 4 times a year, or more frequently if located
in a dusty area. DO NOT install the unit in a location
where the condenser (warm side) coil is not accessible for periodic cleaning.
Kitchen Pantry
VINTAGE KEEPER WINE cooling units must be supplied
by a dedicated, separately-fused and grounded 15Amp 115 Volt line. The line must not be shared with any other outlet or appliance. If an extension cord must
be used, it must be rated for at least 15 Amps. Before operating Vintage Keeper, have the output tested and
verified. If the line delivers less than 105 Volts, do not attempt to operate your unit. If the supplied voltage
is insufficient or if intermittent shorting occurs, the unit may be unable to start its compressor, and the LED
display may be corrupted. Before requesting warranty service for these problems, test and verify the voltage
output. You might also try plugging the unit into a different circuit, and see if it performs differently. The
electronic controller must also be protected against sudden power surge. Use a good quality surge suppressor.
If the power source is prone to significant “noise” or interference, it may be advisable to use a good quality
power line conditioner. As with any sensitive electronic device, Vintage Keeper wine cooling systems may be
damaged by power surges or spikes, sudden interruptions or prolonged low-voltage conditions. You must monitor the unit on a daily basis. If there is an apparent
problem or “Alarm” condition, you must disconnect
the power supply to avoid potential damage to your
wine collection. If unable to correct the problem
through consultation with our Trouble-shooting
resources, contact Customer Service. Be advised
that Drobot-Vintage Keeper cannot in any event be
liable or responsible for incidental or consequential
damages.
This unit is not designed for COMMERCIAL USE. Such
usage will void any warranty. In addition, Third
party servicing of these units during the warranty
period will void the warranty.
Basement Cold Room
HOW TO PREPARE FOR INSTALLATION
- Outside of wine cellar : min. 65ºF (18ºC) Max. 80ºF (26ºC)
- Inside of wine cellar : min. 50ºF (10ºC) Max. 70ºF (21ºC)
WARNING : Lower SET TEMPERATURE FROM DEFAULT 57ºF
(14ºC) only if ambient conditions allow. A lower set temp can
cause water leaks or overflow in high humidity conditions.
Insulation:
Floor, ceiling and all walls of the enclosure must be insulated
to minimum R-20 rating, although R-30 is recommended. Best
material is foil-backed urethane foam, sealed at all joints with
thermal tape. Build a proper sub-floor with vapor barrier, and
insulate to at least R-20, especially if floor is concrete.
Vapor Barrier:
All surfaces of the enclosure must be protected by a proper
vapor barrier, ideally on both inside and outside of wine
cellar.
Seal:
Seal corners, joints, gaps, vents, electrical outlets and switches,
and especially around door and frame, to achieve air tight
seal. Pack larger gaps with insulation. Seal all with silicone
caulking. Seal drywall with odorless waterproof paint.

General:
Select a suitable area, sized appropiated to the model’s capacity, in a location where ambient temperature will not exceed
the desired storage temperature by more than 25ºF (14ºC). This
appliance is for INDOOR USE ONLY, and must not be vented into
a laundry room or similar which traps warm air. The unit must
vent to an adjacent INTERIOR CLOSE TO THE CEILING. Exhaust
air must not be obstructed in any way. The temperature of
the air in the immediate area where the unit vents its warm
air must never exceed 80ºF with 70% R.H. (non-condensing).

Power Supply:
This appliance must be installed in accordance
with national wiring regulations. Do not use if the
power cord is damaged; it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly
qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Plug
must remain accessible after installation.
Electrical service must be a dedicated, separately
fused and grounded 15 Amp, 115V line. Do not share
the circuit with any other appliance. If extension
cord must be used, it must be rated for 15 Amps.
Test line voltage BEFORE operating, and do not use if
line voltage is less than 105V. The unit must be protected against power surges and spikes: use a good
quality surge suppressor.
Wall Cutout:
Ideal cutout for Models 300, 600 and 900 is 14 1⁄2”
wide by 15 5/8” high, located reasonably close to
the ceiling. For Slimline model, ideal cutout is 21 1⁄2”
wide by 9 1⁄2” high.
Width of 14 1⁄2” is standard between studs; if cutout
for Models 300, 600 or 900 is less than 14 1⁄2”, you
may need to remove rubber bumpers from sides of
cooling unit. Install cross-braces above and below
cutout; level lower brace carefully and provide additional support, as required. Vintage Keeper will
mount with warm end flush to exterior wall surface,
and the cool end will extend into the enclosure.
Maximum wall thickness is 7 1⁄2”, to avoid obstructing
the drain pan.

Rubber
Bumpers
Plug the unit in and test the cooling and
controller functions (see page for operation instructions).
Lift unit up into cutout opening. With
the assistance of a helper, lift from both
WARM and COOL ENDS to move unit
partly into position.
Install three large rubber bumpers in
holes* on underside of unit near the
WARM END. (Some force may be required;
bumpers are more easily installed with a
twisting motion).
* For Model SLIMLINE, two sets of holes
are provided. If installing through a door,
use the set of holes closest to faceplate.
For installation in other locations (i.e.,
through a wall), use the holes nearer
the middle of the unit.

Lift unit , tightly to the top of the cutout,
and move fully into position, resting on
the rubber bumpers.

Use a wedge or shim under the unit
Check that all bumpers remain in position,
as required, after moving.
Level the unit carefully from side to
side and from end to end, using shims if
necessary.

Pre-drill 1/16” holes through faceplate
holes into studs.

Partially install one upper screw through
faceplate into stud, then adjust the sideto-side level again.
Partially install a second upper screw,
then adjust the back-to-front level.
Install the remaining screws, re-check all
levels and adjust if necessary.
Insulating tape on inner edges of faceplate
will compress to seal gap between cooling
unit and wall cutout.
Do not tighten the mounting screws
excessively !

For Models 300, 600 and 900, slide the
accessory drain pan into tabs on underside
of unit. Check pan periodically and empty
if necessary.
NOTE: Model Slimline does not require an
accessory drain pan.
Substitute the supplied vinyl tubing for
the drain pan only if you observe a little
water in the pan. Our units are designed
to evaporate the condensate internally.
Only if your room is not designed according to our specifications should you
require a drainage tube attached to an
exterior container. If you are in doubt use the tubing.

NOTE: If the unit DOES produce excess
condensation, that’s a sure sign that the
enclosure is NOT adequately insulated,
the air seal is not sufficient and/or
the ambient conditions are too extreme.
Failure to correct these conditions will
result in shortened life expectancy for

continued dripping, and will void the
warranty.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
Although each Vintage Keeper cooling unit has been carefully tested at every stage of manufacture, occasional problems
arise, the majority of which are due to rough or careless handling during shipping or installation. Other problems may
derive from improper insulation of your room, power interruption or surge, low line voltage (less than 105V), or failure
to clean the unit regularly. The following may help you determine what the problem may be, what steps you can
take to correct it, and what further steps may be required. Additional Trouble-Shooting information and downloadable
documents are available in the “Support” area of our web site: www.vintagekeeper.com
IMPORTANT NOTE:
In order to provide maximum protection for your valuable wine collection, the following steps are highly advisable.
First and foremost, have your wine collection adequately insured. Second, install a battery-powered heat-sensitive alarm
to warn of any loss of cooling due to power interruption. Third, monitor your storage and ambient conditions on a regular,
daily basis. Fourth, install a high quality surge suppressor to protect against sudden power fluctuations. Fifth, clean the
unit as directed, on a regular basis, every 3 to 4 months vacuum the cooling unit coils (check our website for more info).
Be advised, also, that Drobot-Vintage Keeper cannot in any event be liable or responsible for incidental or consequential
damages.

DESIGN AND APPLICATION
Vintage Keeper wine cooling systems are designed to maintain storage temperatures between 50° and 72° F, and moderate (50-80%) relative humidity, when installed as
directed in a properly constructed, insulated and airtight enclosure, in a location where ambient temperatures do not exceed the desired storage temperature by more than 15
degrees C (25 F). The location must provide adequate clearance for airflow from the warm side of the unit, and the adjacent area, which must be an interior room, must be
properly ventilated to remove warm air vented by the unit during operation. Unlike an air conditioner, this unit must never be vented directly to outdoors. Vintage Keeper uses
environment-friendly R134-A refrigerant, which contains no CFC’s. NOT WARRANTED FOR COMMERCIAL USE.

LIMITED WARRANTY AND PRODUCT SUPPORT
ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
If your Vintage Keeper cooling unit or cabinet fails to perform as designed within one year of the date of purchase, VINTAGE KEEPER INC. warrants that, upon your request,
it will be repaired or replaced, at our option, during the one year warranty period. This warranty applies only to the first end-user purchaser of a Vintage Keeper unit that
is purchased and used in the continental United States or Canada. It is not valid for subsequent purchasers, nor for units in use outside North America. The warranty period
for your Vintage Keeper unit commences on the date you purchased it and expires one year thereafter.
PROOF OF PURCHASE
Within 10 days of purchase, complete and mail, fax or e-mail the registration sheet to VINTAGE KEEPER INC. Alternately, you may register your warranty on our Internet web
site, www.vintagekeeper.com. When you make a warranty claim, you must forward a copy of your original dated bill of sale to establish your date of purchase.

any question or problem you may have. The inquiry forms are filled in on-line and connect you to our representatives who will process your requests for warranty service.
This is the quickest way to solve your problems. If you do not have access to the internet you may call us from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m EST, to request a WARRANTY CLAIM
INFORMATION KIT. We can fax or mail it to you. You can fill in the enclosed REQUEST FOR RETURN AUTHORIZATION CODE form and return it by mail or fax. We can then
promptly process your claim.
REPLACEMENT ?
At our option we may choose to offer you a replacement part or product rather than a repair. Upon your authorization to accept a replacement unit and with appropriate
security (credit card authorization), we will promptly ship a replacement unit. The replacement may be a unit that has been reconditioned by VINTAGE KEEPER INC. The
unit that needs service must be packed and returned to us, shipping prepaid. Upon its receipt, we will release your credit card security. Go online to the SUPPORT section
on our web site at www.vintagekeeper.com to request warranty service.
REPAIR ?
If we determine that your unit needs to be repaired rather than replaced we will issue you a return authorization code. Go online to the SUPPORT section of our web site
at www.vintagekeeper.com to request warranty service. Please save the original packaging materials to facilitate shipment. Mark the Return Authorization code clearly on
the outside of the package, enclose a brief note describing the problem and send the unit, shipping prepaid, to VINTAGE KEEPER INC.
WHAT MUST YOU DO?
Your unit is designed to perform with a minimum amount of user maintenance when installed and operated precisely as directed in the manual. You are, however,
responsible for the required user maintenance described in the manual, specifically, regular cleaning of the condensor coil and fans. Also, you must take steps to protect
the unit from sudden power surges. As with any sensitive electronic device, your Vintage Keeper unit may be damaged by power surges or spikes, including lightning strikes,
acts of god, sudden interruptions or prolonged low-voltage conditions, which are not covered by this Warranty. You must monitor your unit’s performance on a daily basis.
If there is an apparent problem or “Alarm” condition, you must disconnect the power supply to avoid potential damage to your wine collection. It is your responsibility to
insure your wine, and to take all reasonable and necessary precautions to safeguard its condition.
WHAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
This warranty covers only defects in materials and workmanship provided by VINTAGE KEEPER INC. and does not cover equipment damage or malfunction from misuse,
abuse, accident, act of God, or any unauthorized alteration or modification. The product must have been installed and operated precisely as directed in the manual which
acompanies each product. Improper return shipping, inadequate packaging or shipping damage is not covered unless the unit is packaged and shipped in accordance with
Vintage Keeper replacement procedures. This product is not warranted for COMMERCIAL USE. Such usage will void any warranty. Third party servicing of this product during
the warranty period will also void the warranty, as will any evidence of tampering or alteration to the serial number and or the original dated bill of sale.
REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR ARE YOUR ONLY REMEDIES

If your unit requires service after the one-year warranty period expires, you may have it serviced locally by any qualified HVAC technician, or you may purchase a new unit
