for State in the Box (Wednesday)?

will you include and why do you think the crabs will
like that? Is it tricky to stay in budget?
(Tuesday/Thursday)
State in The Box: State in the Box items, colored
picture printouts and a shoe box are due Tomorrow,
Tuesday, May 10th! During Social Studies each child
made a list of items & pictures that they would like to
include in their box, it should have come home in their filer last week if you need
ideas.
Reminders
Book Report: Written book report forms are due this Thursday, May 12th.
Talent Show: Please join us for the HRS talent show, this Friday! The theme is
“80’s Workout”. Students may wear 80’s gear on Friday.
This Week We Work On
Reading: This week students read
chapter 5 in Ramona Quimby. We focus
on identifying character traits and
visualizing the scenes.
Math: We learn the formula for area (A = L x W) and find the area and
perimeter of regular and irregular shapes. Students also design a robot and
identify the area and perimeter of its parts.
Religion: During the month of May we focus on learning more about Mary. We
discuss Mary’s importance in the Gospel, identify her many names and learn
more about the Rosary.
LA: We finish our State in the Box research and type our research so that it is
ready to put on our projects.
Science: We get hermit crabs this week! Students learn about characteristics
and needs of hermit crabs and begin their last engineering design
challenge: Designing, building and testing a hermit crab habitat aka
"CRABITAT"! An additional aspect to this challenge is that students will have a
budget and have a limited amount of fake money to "purchase" items to include
in their crabitat from our class supply.
Spelling: Homework due Thursday. Test on Friday.
