Bloomingdale Public Schools is requesting sealed bids for snowplowing and removal for
the 2015-2016 school year, with the possibility of yearly extension not to exceed five years.
1. Invitation for Proposals:
Sealed bids will be received by mail to Bloomingdale Public Schools at PO Box 217
Bloomingdale, MI until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Bids should be
sent to the attention of Tod Odell, Director of Operations.
2. Proposals:
Proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes plainly marked, “Snow Removal Bid.”
All proposals shall be on the enclosed forms. Bids will be opened at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Bloomingdale High School Office at 629 E. Kalamazoo, in
Bloomingdale, MI.
3. explanation written and orals:
A walk through of the Bloomingdale site will be held on August 31, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. to
identify the area where snow removal is expected. Please meet at the Bloomingdale High
School Office. Questions prior to then should be directed to Tod Odell at (269) 521-3906
or (269) 330-7364. The Board of Education will not be bound by any oral communications.
4. rejection or acceptance of Proposal:
The Bloomingdale Public Schools Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject
any/or all proposals.
5. Plowing/expectations/deadlines
The following expectations are understood concerning when to plow or not to plow. When
two inches or more of snowfall occurs, then the district areas are to be plowed. However,
the Director of Operations must be contacted before each plow for approval. Please understand that the school district reserves the right to plow themselves if possible. All lots
must be plowed by 7:00 a.m.
6. equipment requirements:
Bidder must have, or have access to, a front-end loader for removal of snow.
7. Bid forms:
Bids are now to be submitted based on a per job total for each plow completed. All bids
should be submitted on the enclosed form. We request an hourly rate be submitted as well
should a need exist to contract for additional work not in the specified area or for the use
of a front-end loader.
8. The following areas are required to be plowed:
Bloomingdale High School/Middle School, including fire lane
Bloomingdale Elementary, including service drive
Bloomingdale Storage building lot
Bloomingdale Bus Garage
Pullman Elementary Building, Bus Garage, including sidewalks and service drive
9. repairs to surfaces:
It is expected that the snow plowing contractor will be responsible for all spring clean up
work due to damage resulting from snow plowing. This includes any grass areas torn up,
gravel onto lawn areas, etc, at no cost to the district. All repair work must be completed by
April 15, 2016.
10. Insurance requirements:
Bidder must have Public Liability and Property Damage to include Automobile and Comprehensive General Liability. Proof must be submitted with bid.
11. Payment requirements:
Payment for services will be made on a bi-weekly basis. A copy of the payment deadline
dates will be given to the winning bidder.
12. Invoice requirements:
Bills must include dates of plowing services. If extra work was performed, bill must show
detail and hours worked.
13. Invoices should be submitted to:
