SILVERLIGHT
WHAT IS SILVERLIGHT AND WHY DO I NEED IT?
Microsoft Silverlight is a powerful tool for creating and delivering rich internet applications and media experiences
on the Web. NamePrint Graphics for YouWho requires Microsoft Silverlight 3.0 to function. If you get the below
pop-up, you will need to install Silverlight.
If you do not see this pop-up, it means your system already has everything installed.
3
INSTALLATION
Below are the steps to complete the Microsoft Silverlight installation. If you do not have the appropriate rights to
install programs on your computer (i.e. the administrator password box pops up), you will need to contact your
system administrator to continue.

WORKING WITH OBJECTS
ADVANCED PROPERTIES
The advanced properties that appear on the right when an object is selected allow you to adjust the opacity (from
visible to invisible) and its rotation (in degrees). It also allows ordering of the object in regards to other objects. In
our example: the circle object is behind the text object (the circle is in the back while the text is in the front).
22
TEXT
When you select a “Text Object” on your badge, you’ll be able to move it, adjust the text and its properties. “Text
Properties” at the top of the application include font, size, color and text decoration (Bold, Italic, Underline).
23
IMAGES
When you select an ‘Image Object’ on your badge, you’ll be able to move it and adjust its size and orientation.
“Image Properties” at the top of the application include how you want the image displayed. To change the image,
click on the thumbnail in “Image Properties”.
24
Shapes
When you select a ‘Circle Object’ or ‘Square Object’ on your badge, you’ll be able to move it and adjust its
properties. “Circle Properties” or “Square Properties” at the top of the application include its color and border
properties.
25
PLACING THE SHEET IN YOUR PRINTER
The manual feed should be used to place your documents in the printer. Your printer will have an icon depicting
how you should put the paper in. You may also have to adjust the guides on your printer’s paper tray to fit the size
of the sheet.
Face down – the top of the sheet is toward you (arrow on the sheet pointing away)
The sheet should be inserted up with top of page away from you (arrow on the sheet pointing toward you). The arrows in the
icon indicate that the guides need to be adjusted.
26
The sheet should go face down with the top of the sheet toward you.
If you see this icon in the tray, you should not use the sheets in that specific tray.
27
PRINTING YOUR BADGES
When you are done making your name badges press print. Your YouWho kit includes a test page that you can use
to verify if all is printing where it should. Envelope sized sheets will require a manual feed into your printer (as
opposed to the paper tray). Adjust your printer accordingly to fit the sheet.
DO NOT USE THE BROWSER’S PRINT OPTION TO PRINT!
This will make your page print improperly.
28
IMPORTANT: You will need to select “Envelope”, “Envelope-10” or “Com-10” as the paper size in your printer
preferences. Select the printer you want to use and then click “Preferences”.
29
The Printer Preferences screen varies from printer to printer, below are three examples:
30
31
32
Click ‘Print’ when you have set all the required preferences (Envelope paper size, manual feed, optional
‘transparency’ setting).
33
PRINT ALIGNMENT
If the alignment is off, you are able to adjust it in the advanced properties on the right hand side of the screen.
The program will display a shadow of the original badge location for easy reference
NOTE: these properties will only appear if there are no objects selected. Click on an empty spot in the badge to
deselect all objects or click on the Badge Properties
in the menu toolbar.
