The 2015 Sand on Whyte
sand carving exhibit was
extremely successful!
3,437 visitors voted for
their favourite carving.
The CP Rail land on the
corner of Whyte Avenue &
Gateway Blvd was
transformed into a sand
carving gallery.
Congratulations to
Wilfred Stijger for The
Ogre with 53% of the
popular vote.
A fairytale theme was
selected by the artists and a
castle, an ogre and sleeping
beauty took shape.
Sherry from Edmonton
will enjoy dinner for
two at Chianti Café for
voting.

From July 3 to 5, the
professional artists were
joined by 2 teams of sand carving
apprentices representing the
Neighbour Centre and Actual
Security. Wilfred, Edith and
Delayne mentored the apprentice
teams and their first time
creations were wonderful.
Sand on Whyte was pleased to
partner with Takin it to the Streets
on July 5 and the Whyte Avenue
ArtWalk from July 10 to 12. These
three events gave visitors to Old
Strathcona a truly artistic summer
experience.
The future of Sand on Whyte is
looking good.
