Sub-cut into five 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" strips. Fabric B: Cut one 8-1/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into ten 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" strips. Fabric C: Cut two 3-1/2" x 40-1/2" strips. Cut three 3-1/2" x 42" strips. Piece the strips together and cut two 3-1/2" x 46-1/2" strips. Fabric D: Cut one 8-1/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into four 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" strips. Fabric E: Cut one 3-1/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into four 3-1/2" squares and four 2-1/2" squares. Cut two 2-1/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into thirty-two 2-1/2" squares (for a total of thirty-six 2-1/2" squares). Fabric F: Cut two 2-1/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into eight 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" strips. Fabric G: Cut two 2-1/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into eight 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" strips. Fabric H: Cut one 10-1/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into ten 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" strips. Fabric I: Cut five 2-1/2" x 42" strips for the binding. Fabric J: Cut six 1-1/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into twelve 1-1/2" x 14-1/2" strips. Cut four 1-1/2" x 40-1/2" strips. Cut nine 1-1/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into thirty-six 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" strips Backing: Cut two 54" x 42" strips. Piece together to make the 54" x 60" back. page 2 Block Assembly Instructions: 1. Sew one 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric J strip to each side of one 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric A strip. Sew one 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric J strip to the top and bottom of the Fabric A strip to create one Block One center (Fig. 1). 2. Sew one 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" Fabric H strip to each side of the Block One center (Fig. 2). 3. Sew one 2-1/2" Fabric E square to each end of one 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric B strip to make the top border (Fig. 3). Repeat to make the bottom border. Sew the top and bottom borders to the Block One center to complete one 12-1/2" x 14-1/2" Block One (Fig. 4). 4. Repeat Steps 1-3 to make Five Block Ones total. 5. Repeat Steps 1-3 using four 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric D strips, sixteen 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric J strips, eight 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" Fabric F strips, sixteen 2-1/2" Fabric E squares and eight 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric G strips to make four 12-1/2" x 14-1/2" Block Twos total (Fig. 5). Quilt Top Assembly Instructions (Refer to the quilt layout while assembling): 6. Sew together four 1-1/2" x 14-1/2" Fabric J strips, two Block Ones and one Block Two to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three. 7. Sew together four 1-1/2" x 14-1/2" Fabric J strips, two Block Twos and one Block One together to make Row Two. 8. Refer to the quilt layout to sew together the three block rows and four 1-1/2" x 40-1/2" Fabric J strips, alternating them to make the quilt top 9. Sew one 3-1/2" x 46-1/2" Fabric C strip to each side of the quilt top. 10. Sew one 3-1/2" Fabric E square to each end of one 3-1/2" x 40-1/2" Fabric C strip to make the top border. Repeat to make the bottom border. Sew the borders to the top and bottom of the quilt top. 11. Layer and quilt as desired. 12. Sew the five 2-1/2" x 42" Fabric K strips together end-to-end with 45° seams to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 13. Bind as desired.
