TIRE CASING TECHNOLOGY
The casing is the fabric that the rubber compound
adheres to. The fabric of the casing can be made
in varying thickness and threads per inch (TPI).
Generally, the higher the TPI number, the more supple
the tire sidewall will feel and flex. This means a more
comfortable ride compared to that of a lower TPI
casing. The Casings can be treated and reinforced with
various materials in order to achieve different degrees
of puncture resistance and ride qualities.
RUBBER COMPOUNDS
KENDA engineers have developed a series of
advanced rubber compounds that out perform
regular rubber compounds in many ways. Our rubber
compounds have been formulated to provide better
grip, less rolling resistance and better puncture
resistance. Choose a compound that’s right for you
and your efficiency and comfort will improve.
IRON CLOAK is Kenda’s best puncture resistant material. It is
a layer of material under the tread that runs bead to bead. In
addition to helping prevent punctures, it also adds strength to
the sidewalls of the tire with adding only minimal weight.
IRON CAP is a layer of material that runs from bead to bead under
the tread to prevent flats. It combines some of the technology
from the top of the line IRON CLOAK material without the
additional cost.
CASING ADDED PROTECTION (CAP) was originally developed for Kenda
Motorcycle Tires. It is now offered as a puncture resistant material designed
to prevent pinch flats. CAP or CAP PLY as it has been referred to is an added
layer of material that is under the tread area and runs from bead to bead.
DUAL RUBBER COLOUR #5 is a semi-crystal rubber
combination compound with high abrasion resistance, better
rebound characteristics, and low rolling resistance to provide
extra gripping ability for outstanding traction.
L3R Stands for Low Rolling Resistance Rubber
compound. The benefits are as the name implies:
Low Rolling Resistance and increased tread life.
Typically a tire with L3R compound weighs less than the same tire with
normal compound.
L3R PRO is an upscale version of L3R blended
together with Kenda’s high performance Motorcycle
Rubber Compounds. Benefits are extended tread life and a lighter tire.
AIRLESS TUBE INSTALLATION
STEP 1
Slip bottom bead of
casing over rim just
as you would in a
pneumatic installation
and spray lubricant
(WD40, etc.) on rim
and casing interior.
STEP 2
Starting at 6 o’clock
position, insert and
compress tube into
casing so that only the
loop remains at the top.
STEP 4
Stand tire up to
check that the
bottom bead has not
been forced over
rim. If so, pry into
place and continue.
STEP 5
Continue installation
with hand pressure until
tool is needed (usually
10 and 2 o’clock).
Use tool to lift and pry
remaining tube over rim
in 1” - 2” increments.

STEP 3
Spray lubricate and begin
seating tube by pressing it
over rim into wheel between
approx. 7 o’clock to 5 o’clock.
CAUTION: Be sure top tire
bead stays OUTSIDE rim
during next 3 steps.
