individual’s ability to function in the long run.

Name three potential causes of acquired brain injury.
Outline the general functions of the four cortical lobes of the brain.
Explain the inhibitory role of the brains' frontal lobe cortex on behavior.
Discuss the role of impairment of sub-cortical structures [e.g., hypothalamus] on
behavioral sequeleau and across brain injury disease modalities.
Describe two of the general components of the differential diagnoses of partial {simple &
complex} seizures vs. generalized seizures and psychosis.
List 3 potential targets of psychotropic medications and discuss the ways in which these
drugs influence their targets.
Describe techniques that can be used to effectively manage neuro-pharmacy for persons
with acquired brain injuries.
Summarize why our approach to managing drugs is reductionist and difficult to generalize.
Define two possible functions of behavior.
Contrast and describe behavioral antecedents, precursors and consequences.
Explain the concept of Positive Behavior Supports.
Differentiate between positive and negative reinforcement and provide an example of each.
Summarize three side effects of punishment and construct a rationale for avoiding the use
of punishment in the treatment of challenging behaviors.
