a horse look like a sale when it is actually a “Buy Back”. However, ANY horse sold outside on the premises after being
passed out in the sale ring must be run through the office and full commission paid! Be Honest.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ATTENTION BUYERS
7. A new halter will be provided with your horse purchase. All ride and lead in horses are haltered and
tied after they are sold and leave the ring. A $2.50
fee for the halter will be assessed the buyer with seller
paying an additional $2.50.
1. Please have your driver’s license ready to present when registering for a number.
2. All out-of-state buyers paying by check must
have a current letter of credit on file to receive a
bidding number.
8. Phone or mail in bids are welcome. Buyers need
to make arrangements by the Friday before the sale
for credit references.
3. A purchase invoice will be filled out for each horse
purchased by a buyer. Name and address is to be
filled out exactly how the purchaser wants a horse
registered. We will not be responsible for errors on
transfer if purchase invoice is not properly and clearly
filled out.
9. Writing an insufficient funds check the size of
a horse purchase is a FELONY. Any person writing an insufficient funds check for a horse purchase will be turned over to the States Attorney
for prosecution. Immediate legal action will be
taken.
4. All horses listed in this catalogue are guaranteed
sound by their owner. The guarantee is strictly by
the owner and not the sale management. Right of
recourse must be directly to the owner and not through
South Dakota Horse Sale, owners, auctioneers or
managers. We act only as agents for consignors in
the sale. Soundness to include sight out of both
eyes, not to crib, hit the ground on all 4, & good
in the air.
10. Longtime, regular monthly buyers, easily recognized by our staff, may apply for a permanent V.I.P.
buyer number.
11. We DO NOT allow private horse trading in the
yards, alleys or on the premises before, during or after
the sale. Any offender to this policy will be banned
from the premises. All persons selling no-saled horses
on the premises after they leave the ring must pay full
commission in the office.
5. Be sure to inspect any horse of interest to your
satisfaction BEFORE you buy. A veterinarian is available prior to sale time to answer any questions. When
horse leaves the ring all sales are final.
6. We DO NOT charge sales tax on horse purchases in
South Dakota.
12. For convenience in the quick location of a
certain horse, horses will be penned in numerical
order throughout the yard beginning with Lot 1
nearest the check-in gate.

well broke with a soft mouth and a one hand neck rein. Very smooth.
Absolutely no buck! Safe and gentle for anyone. Also ride bareback

"Frenchie" is 8 years old. I bought this mare to finish her out as a barrel
racing prospect. She was started before I bought her and no fault of hers I
never had the time. She raised her first colt last year which is a future
barrel racing prospect for me. She sells sound all the way around and was

March 12 Sale Results. This 7-Day Good Weather "Pop
Up" sale was Fantastic! The 60 degree sunny weather was
a big plus for our Buyer Demand and produced Great
prices. 193 Head with ONLY two No Sales out of the 50
Ride in's and zero no sales out of the 145 Loose Sale tells
the story.
Keep in mind, this was a regular sale only -NO catalogue
sale due to unpredictable March weather, but the prices
reflect that it was. We could not promote the sale till we
heard the 10 day forecast was looking good. With over 30
years in the Horse Sale marketing program, our Advertising
program & Reputation sale, is top notch!
We were very happy with a huge turn out of both horses and
Buyers demand. Buyers & Sellers came from Iowa,
Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Wisconsin

Several of the Carol Nelson yearlings, not handled or even
halter broke, but with better conformation, color and
permanent registration papers sold in the loose sale for $500
to $975.
We get a good number of people asking "What are Loose
Horses". Loose horses are sold on the loose, run in and
penned by our staff - no one is allowed in the sale ring
except our Ringman. Express way to sell.
The 4 yearlings we had advertised and were halter broke
were not able to get to the sale but will be here at the June
sale.
The weigh up market is as good as it gets, especially this
time of the year.The market horses weighing over 1000 lb
sold $485 to $625 with a lot selling in the $500 and over
area. The feeders, those horses weighing 800 to 1000 lb
sold $375 to $425 a head.
