why Rigid-tex®?
When Rigidized® Metals Corporation, originally Rigid-tex® Corporation, was founded in 1940
in Buffalo, NY, its main thrust was to provide deep textured metal for industrial applications.
Today, 75 years later, with its third generation of family-owned leadership, Rigidized® Metals
Corporation continues to lead the world in the development and production of deep-textured,
three dimensional metals.
While the range of applications has grown exponentially to include everything from
transportation, food processing and elevator panels to restroom partitions, building facades
and commercial and residential kitchens and dining, Rigidized® Metals Corporation continues
to offer the same great products that originally put us on the map. Our advancements in
technology, engineering, and fabrication have led us to differentiate our application offerings
and provide more industry-specific brands, bringing the industrial portion of our organization
back to its roots with the Rigid-Tex® brand.
Rigidized® Metals Corporation understands and can respond to the specific technical and
logistical requirements of today’s industry. Quality, performance, and responsiveness define
the Rigid-Tex®/customer relationship and we know those words have specific meaning to
manufacturers and suppliers.
From serving the war effort in the 1940s, to providing solutions for transportation and
aerospace today, Rigid-tex® metals can be found in a wide array of applications such as food
processing, packaging and material handling, truck and trailer bodies, bumpers and steps,
mezzanines, and catering vehicles.

3
benefits of Rigid-tex®
Rigid-tex® metal has been designed to scientifically redistribute standard sheet metal in three
dimensions. Enhanced performance and appearance over plain, flat-rolled metal equates to
stronger, lighter, better looking, and longer lasting metal for your unique application.
Rigid-tex® saves metal and money
A prime advantage of Rigid-tex® metal is its
strength. Rigid-tex® metal provides as much
as 108% greater rigidity, 70% greater buckling
strength, 39% greater impact resistance, and 92%
greater tensile strength than the original flat metal,
depending on selection of material and pattern.
Rigid-tex® is metal for motion
Deep textured Rigid-tex® metal reduces surface tension
and friction for the processing of paper, film and food
products, in many instances, eliminating the need for
expensive and high maintenance mechanical processes.
Rigid-tex® looks better, longer
The texture of Rigid-tex® metal conceals
scratches, smudges, and fingerprints so that
cleaning and maintenance are greatly reduced.

aerospace solutions
Rigid-tex® metals have been used in the Aerospace and Aero-Engine Industries since the early 1940s.
Several Rigid-tex® patterns have been specified by manufacturers of fixed wing and rotorcrafts for their
rigidity enhancements and design improvements over standard sheet metal.
Through careful design, rigidity and stiffness are increased in all directions and used in all applications
where weight reduction is of prime importance.

truck & utility vehicles
Manufacturers of utility vehicles and truck
bodies recognize the value in weight
savings by using Rigidized® Metals’ deeptextured products. Deep texturing adds
strength, allowing for the use of lighter
gauges, resulting in greater fuel economy
and reduced vehicle maintenance.
With Rigidized® Metals Corporation, truck
body and trailer manufacturers have a
choice in specifying a product that fits every
metal requirement, from any grade of
stainless steel, to any aluminum alloy and
zinc-coated metal (galvanized or
galvannealed carbon steel).
6
metal made better
truck & utility vehicles
Compared to traditional flat back tread plate, Rigid-tex® metals reduce weight without jeopardizing
strength and can save a manufacturer countless hours of production time while providing cost and
weight savings, flatness, and a rust-free, consistent pattern. Specify Rigid-tex® tread plate on your
next work truck or utility vehicle for long lasting life.

public transit
Rigid-tex® metals are highly sought
after for use in bus and rail interiors.
Used for seat backs, luggage racks,
wall panels, handrails, wainscotings,
kick plates, turn stiles, partitions and
bulkheads, and other high traffic areas,
the deep textured surface softens glare
and hides the appearance of dents,
dings, scratches and other forms of
vandalism.

Example Finishes
Rigidized® Metals offers all standard mill produced finishes for both textured and non-textured
distribution, as well as specialty polished and embossed finishes.
#4 Satin
Hairline Finish
Number 4 finish stainless
steel, commonly referred
to as “satin” finish, is a
general-purpose bright
polish that is the most
popular choice for
architectural applications.
Hairline Finish stainless is
commonly referred to as
“long-grain” because the
grain is considerably more
consistent than #4 finish.
2B Mill
RND
Non-Directional
Vibration
2B or “Mill” finish stainless
steel is a dull, low-reflective finish with no grain
or direction. 2B finish is
not commonly used as
an architectural quality
surface.

Bright Annealed
Bright Annealed stainless
steel has a “cloudy mirror”
reflective surface.
#8 Mirror
Number 8, or
mirror, finish is polished to
a mirror quality.
14

Rigidized® Metals’ NonDirectional polish is a
consistently polished finish
that produces a low
reflectivity uniform surface.
Random Swirl
Random Swirl is polished
by hand and, as the name
suggests, is completely
random. No two sheets
are the same.
Dull Bead Blast
Bright Bead Blast
A Bead Blast finish in
stainless steel is produced
under controlled mechanical conditions to ensure
consistency and flatness.
We offer this finish in both
Dull and Bright (shown).
perforated metal
Deep Textured Perforated Metal
Deep textured perforated metal can meet both the demands of acoustics and add the visual
interest only metal can deliver. Perforated stock is textured as a final treatment, giving it an
enhanced look with the texture creating a softer glow and reflections of highlights. When panel
systems are desired, attachment systems can be added without compromising acoustic performance. Perforation is useful in any application requiring ventilation for cooling, moisture or vapor
control. Contact us for more information on the wide range of materials, gauges and open area.

STAINLESS STEEL ALLOY TYPES
304 is the basic chromium- nickel
austenitic stainless steel and has
been found suitable for a wide range
of applications. It is the most readily available in a variety of product
forms. This grade is easy to form and
fabricate with excellent resistance to
corrosion.
316 offers more corrosion resistance
through the addition of molybdenum.
This grade is desirable where the
possibility of severe corrosion exists,
such as heavy industrial, marine and
de-icing environments.
Metals Textured Include:
Stainless Steel, Copper,
Aluminum, Brass, Titanium,
Bronze, Steel, Perforated,
Galvanized and Galvannealed.
430 is a straight chromium ferritic
stainless steel with lower corrosion
resistance than the 300 series. It is
principally employed for interior use
and is magnetic.
