TE R R A I N D R A I N AG E CORRUGATED DRAINAGE PIPES FOR DRAINING UNDERGROUND AND SURFACE RUNOFF WATER COMMERCIAL CATALOGUE 11 / 2010 2 Vargon d.o.o. - manufacturing facility Kukuljanovo CERTIFICATES 3 Description of the system All modern projects are carried out by protecting high-rise buildings and civil engineering structures from accumulated waters on surrounding surfaces. In order to collect this water and ensure its diversion, it is necessary to incorporate a system of drainage pipes with perforations in the pipe walls to carry this out effectively. These perforations allow water to enter the pipe, which are then diverted to a sewage system or absorption drain, resulting in the ground drying out and reducing its impact on the structure. The vargodren drainage system is manufactured in compliance with EN 13476-2 ensuring the highest quality. The corrugated drainage pipes are made from vargokor PE-HD corrugated pipes that possess a SN8 loading capacity, hence they can be used even on the most demanding roadways and in places where the pipes are exposed to large loads. Laboratory Coinciding with the production process, we have ensured continuous quality control of the manufacturing process, starting from controlling incoming raw material up to quality testing of finished products. Testing is conducted in a laboratory on our company premises that is equipped with testing equipment (mostly from specialised German manufacturers of IPT laboratory equipment) suitable for testing all the necessary characteristics of raw materials and the finished product in compliance with prescribed requirements set out by the standards defining particular products. The manufacturing process of vargodren pipes is continually supervised and finished products are tested in compliance with the requirements of standard DIN 4262-1. The following testing is carried out: • • • • Testing the melt mass-flow in compliance with standard EN ISO 1133 Testing the density in compliance with standard EN ISO 1183 -1 Testing the width and length of perforations in compliance with standard DIN 4262-1 Testing the ring stiffness of thermoplastic pipes in compliance with standard EN ISO 9969 4 Transport and assembly 1. Transport to the construction site vargodren drainage pipes and connecting elements must be transported using appropriate vehicles, and loaded and unloaded under professional supervision. During transport, the pipes should be placed along a maximum surface areas in order to avoid damage. 2. Unloading from a transport vehicle If the pipes are unloaded using an excavator or crane, a belt/track should be used for lifting (i.e. made from textile or similar materials). Chains and cables can damage the pipes, hence they should not be used. Certain actions such as throwing, dropping or pipes and assembly sections hitting each other with force should be avoided. Lifting tracks should be placed under the pallet or transport base, along the centre at a distance of 3,5m. If the pipes are unloaded using a forklift, the pallets should be positioned perpendicularly across the forks, taking care that the forks are at a maximum distance from one another. If a forklift is used to unload individual pipes, special care should be taken in not damaging the pipes. 3. Storage on the construction site The pallet must not be unloaded by yanking when placing on a hard surface, the pipes should be placed on a firm basis in order to avoid the pallet or its wooden structure sinking. The pipes and connecting elements can be stored out in the open, taking into consideration that such storage should not exceed a 12-month duration. When storing the pipes, consideration should be given to storing the pipes on a level ground surface when unloading. The height of the stacked pipes should not exceed 2m, while the stacked pipes should be fixed at the sides. When storing vargodren drainage pipes during the summer at extreme temperatures, the pipes should be protected from excessive overheating. It is recommended that the pipes be stored in the shade or covered using a brightly coloured tarpaulin inhibiting sunlight. 4. Shortening vargodren drainage pipes The pipes should be cut using a saw with fine teeth in the middle of the depressed section between the ribbed protrusion and in a perpendicular manner on the pipe axis. A file, knife or sanding paper should be used to remove unevenness and roughness in the area where the pipe was sawed. All that is required for use of a half-pipe is a coupling and two seals for each particular piece, because vargodren drainage pipes are identical at both ends. 5 5. Making a trench The base should be made from at least 10 to 15 cm of low-granulation material. The recommendation is that materials be used that can be compacted (such as sand or gravel) and that poorly bind or don’t bind at all. On both adjacent sides of the vargodren drainage pipe, the mentioned material should be filled so that the pipe becomes completely immobile. Once this has been carried out, the same material is to be used to cover the pipe up to 15 cm above the top of the pipe. Compacting the material used to cover the top of the pipe, if necessary, is to be done by hand. Compaction of the material directly above the pipe is carried out mechanically only once a layer of at least 30 cm is applied above the top of the pipe. The pipe must not come into contact with the compaction device. When inserting the pipe, it should be secured along its sides and at an appropriate depth. Filling (30 cm above the pipe top) is carried out in layers. Lighter to medium-sized compaction devices may be used for coverings up to 1 m. Heavy machinery can be used only once this layer thickness has been achieved. 6. Inserting vargodren drainage pipes Prior to placement, the top of the pipe should be inspected for possible damage during transport or storage. Connecting vargodren drainage pipes is carried out by using couplings and seals. The seals secure the connection and guarantee the sure joining of the pipes even when assembling under unfavourable conditions. When joining the pipes, the following steps should be taken: a) The end of the pipe which is b) The seal located on the pipe c) Immediately prior to install- d) The vargodren drainto be inserted into the coupling and internal section of the ing, the coupling and pipe age pipe is then to be in(area leading to the third ribbed coupling is evenly coated should once again be inserted into the coupling up section), including the internal with a lubricant for easier spected for foreign bodies to the boundary or marking, surface of the coupling, should insertion of the pipe into the and removed if necessary. previously marked on the be cleaned of dirt or grime uscoupling.
