The Beginning
ARX was founded in 1990, a company dedicated to the development of thermal management and
cooling technology.
ARX became the first company in Taiwan to offer cooling solutions for 386 microprocessors in
1990.
ARX was the first company to successfully apply Thermo-Electrical Cooling module to CPU
cooling in 1991
Growing Strong
ARX won the "Innovation and Research" awards from Taiwan ROC government in 1993, 1996,
and 2000.
ARX won the "It's very well made in Taiwan" awards from Taiwan ROC government in four
consecutive years from 1996 to 1999.
ARX was the first company to introduce the suspended motor in DC fan/blowers and low profile
devices to prolong motor life.
In 1996, ARX became an ISO 9001/9002 TUV certified manufacturer in Taiwan.
In 1998, ARX became an ISO 14001 BVQi certified manufacturer in Taiwan.
By 2000, ARX has established itself as one of the largest and most reliable suppliers of active
cooling devices to the world market.
By 2006, ARX won the" National Outstanding SEMs Award” awards from Taiwan R.O.C
government.
ARX History
Entering the Ceramic Era
To meet the ever rising demands from markets, ARX expanded its production facility to Dong
Guan, China in 2001.
ARX unveiled the patented ceramic bearing fan-CeraDyna series in late 2001. A breakthrough
in fan technology that shattered the age-old limits of fan service life by nearly six-fold.
CeraDyna fans, with its high reliability, low noise, and competitive cost, quickly earned great
reputations in the DC fan markets around the globe in 2002.
Combining suspended motor design with CeraDyna structure, ARX chipset coolers soon
become the most popular and widely adopted components among world leading VGA board
manufacturers.
Thanks to existing customers switching to CeraDyna and increased preference among new
clients, the monthly output of CeraDyna series from ARX production lines exceeded all other
traditional bearings combined by the beginning of 2003,
ARX further expand its new production site to Su Zhou, China in 2003. The new factory is
aimed to support large manufacturing bases in the nearby area, as well as to accommodate
demands from worldwide markets.
In 2004, Su-Zhou factory operation started. The newest generation of ceramic bearing CeraDyna C is introduced. Viewing at serving Europe and non-PC market, ARX-Europe is
established in Holland. The ERP system is also well setup for more efficient connection and
operation.
Up to 2005, a solid patent framework of ceramic products and technologies has been
established. The total turnover grows rapidly with the help of parallel operation of Dong Guang
and Su Zhou factories.
Aimed at serving our customers with higher capacity, Dong Guang factory is moved to a new
location nearby with new facilities and production lines, which immediately function with more
through put.

Looking Ahead
ARX is prepared to launch a total ceramic bearing system that incorporates ceramic shaft-&sleeve combination. Its ultra durability and longevity make it a perfect solution for motors that
are required to operate at high speed under extreme temperature for long hours.
While we are introducing our unique ceramic bearing products the effort for vertical integration
will also be made, aimed at broadening the applications and better efficacy. It is our goal to
become the leading company in sales, technologies and manufacturing of ceramic related

1991年 潛心研究半導體發熱與冷卻相關技術與產品,推出世界首創之微電腦中央處理器之散
熱裝置 (C.P.U. COOLER)。

Noise and life have been two major issues when using fans for cooling your system. Because

The U.S. patented application (patent No. US6.254.348 B1) utilizes the improved ZrO2
engineering ceramics for the bearing system. ZrO2 engineering ceramics has the advantages of
wear, heat, chemical resistant. It can be shaped and machined precisely and easily. Owing to its
superior material characteristics, the bearing system has passed CSIST's rigorous test, which
showed ever-long life of our CeraDyna fan. The perfect fitting of the bearing system results in quiet
and smooth operation. ARX CeraDyna fan has been highly appreciated by our customers since
the introduction from the end of 2001. The application of the new technology changes your thought,

Switching to Ceramics
Five years ago, ARX realized that the IT industry was posing new demands on fan makers, and
the company began to develop its own technology, taking advantage of the properties of ceramic
materials.After years of research and development, ARX launched its first generation of ceramic
bearing systems, featuring a ceramic shaft and a high-precision alloy sleeve bearing. This
arrangement proved to offer much better quality than a copper sleeve bearing. The ceramic shaft
is very precisely machined, with a very fine surface texture, well in advance of the traditional steel
shaft. ARX launched it's A series of Ceradyna brand fans late in 2001, and this year the company
plans to launch its Ceradyna C series, which feature a combination of ceramic shaft and ceramic
bearing. This combination offers very durable and smooth operation, at the same or slightly less
cost than a two-bearing system, while making less noise.
For ARX, the ceramic design approach has been a success, with a very positive market response,
and the company has managed to increase market share. "More and more people are looking into

Market Acceptance
ARX can look at market acceptance of its products both internally and externally. Internally, the
proportion of ceramic fans sold by ARX, as compared with sales of its traditional fan products, has
increased. The company's ceramic Ceradyna brand fans now account for some 75 percent of
sales, and the traditional fans for the other 25 percent.Towards the end of this year, and going into
2004, ARX expects the ceramic fan products to grow to 90 percent of sales volume. "More and
more customers are now asking for Ceradyna fans, because they have seen these products
proven in the market, over the last couple of years." Ceradyna fans, in both the A and the C series,
now have an increasing market acceptance, and the overall sales volume, at ARX, is rocketing.

ARX Ceramics Manufacturing Processes
ARX has its full capability from forming to final machining. The raw material is made by
deliberately mixing all the necessary ingredients with ceramic powder of less than 300 nano
for molding. Precision injection molding process is developed to make ceramic shafts and
bearing of various shapes and dimensions. The debinding and sintering processes are then
followed to make the final shape and the characteristics needed. The two processes are finely
controlled such that all the binders are removed smoothly step by step, and the microstructure
and the grain size can be produced and maintained for best strength and hardness. In addition,
the perfect combination of molding and sintering processes makes the need of machining to
the minimum. This is achieved by the “near-net-shape” technology such that there is no need
to remove a lot of hard-to-machined material and therefore the post machining process can be
conducted in a very productive way.
Upon the completion of the pre-forming process, the shaft and bearing are moved forward for
post machining process. Various machining processes are employed depending on the
functional need of each part designed. Either the need to make the dimension, the geometry or
the required surface texture can be achieved.

『多年前,三匠科技就已經知道在IT產業將會出現新的風扇市場需求,並且利用我們本身的陶瓷材料
開始發展自己的技術。
在研發多年以後,三匠科技推出了第一代電腦使用的陶瓷軸承系統,以陶瓷軸心及高精密度的合金含

的數量與傳統風扇相比,呈增加的趨勢。陶瓷軸承風扇的銷售量約佔75%,而傳統風扇的銷售量約
25%。三匠科技在2005年,陶瓷軸承的銷售額會成長到90%。

三匠陶瓷製造程序
三匠科技擁有從成型到最後機械加工階段的所有能力。原物料謹慎混合必須的組成成分及低於
300nano及陶瓷粉所組成。精確的射出過程陶瓷軸心、軸承不同外型及尺寸變化。在脫脂和燒結階
段之後即決定尺寸和材料特色可精確做到。這兩個階段須透過精密,一步步的除掉結合材料,生產
和維持細部構造和顆粒般大產品的良好強度及硬度。成型和燒結的完美結合,使加工需求最小。藉
由「近實成型」技術來達到目標,因此減少後加工負荷,後加工過程更有效率。
經過上述成型階段,軸心和軸承就進入加工的製程。依據不同零件的功能需求來使用不同的加工方
法。不但完成尺寸需求,同時也達到幾何精度或表面精細度要求的水準。
三匠科技的產品已經通過多種的驗證測試。在陶瓷實驗室及品管都配有高精密度的儀器,這是用來
測試我們製作的原料及零件的屬性及特色。這些精密儀器有能力從原料和機器的觀點來檢查及反映
出產品的品質,例如從細微構造、強度、硬度、真圓度和表面粗糙度等。
CeraDyna A Series
CeraDyna A fan series has been introduced to the market for more than two years. Its bearing
system features a well machined and polished ceramic shaft along with a fine alloy sleeve.
The ceramic shaft possesses adequate hardness that results in very high wear resistance.
The surface of the shaft is machined and polished (Figure 1), reflecting a smooth and shiny
texture that conventional SUS shaft can’t compete (Figure 2). Not only can this hard and fine
surface preserve its original quality for an extreme long period of time of operation, it also
comes with the run-in polishing effect on the alloy sleeve. Figure 3 and 4 shows the surface of
the ceramic shaft before any operation and the surface of the ceramic shaft after a very long
period time of high temperature operation (acceleration test). It can easily be seen that how
durable the ceramic shaft is and, it is hard to find any difference before and after a long period
time of operation. Figure 5 shows the roundness measurement for comparison. On the other
hand, the alloy sleeve is rather polished during the fan operation (Figure 6), such that the alloy
sleeve is also able to sustain a very long period of time of operation. The perfect match of the
ceramic shaft and the alloy sleeve results in a very smooth and quite operation, with
exceptionally long service life expectancy. CeraDyna A is, in its essence, different from
traditional bearing systems in many perspectives, from material characteristics, processes to
precision. A complete comparison can be found in later section. Current CeraDyna A fan
series ranges from 25 mm to 127 mm, both in axial and centrifugal. It has been applied to
different fields of market segments, such as IT, telecom, industry, auto, and home appliances,
etc.
陶瓷風扇A系列
A系列陶磁風扇已導入市場5年多,此類軸承系統以良好的加工精度、光滑的軸心及精細的合金軸
承為特色。陶瓷軸心因擁有足夠的硬度所以展現其高抗磨耗能力。其光滑的表面是經過精密的加
工及拋光(圖1),此為過去鋼質軸心所無法比擬的(圖2)。其堅硬及精細的表面不但在長時間操作
下仍可保存它原本的功能,而且合金軸承內部產生二次拋光作用。圖3和圖4分別是軸心
在使用前及高溫下(加速測試效果)長期使用後的表面結果。我們可以發現陶瓷軸心非常耐用,即
使在長期使用後其與新品並無明顯差異。
圖五是使用表面粗度來比較。另外一方面,合金軸承內孔表面甚至比未使用前還光滑(圖六),因

CeraDyna C Series
ARX is never satisfied with the ceramic bearing of the first generation – CeraDyna A.
There has been a need to further advance the capability of the bearing system for
applications with more stringent requirement. After years of research and development,
ARX launches her CeraDyna C fan series in year 2004, featuring a precisely machined
ceramic shaft and ceramic bearing. By best using the advantages of the ceramic material
and well defined tolerance and precision, CeraDyna C out performs most of the current
existing bearing systems in many aspects such as operation stability, noise, service life,
etc. Figure 7 shows the surface characteristics of the shaft before and after 12000 hours
of high temperature operation test. Note that the shaft is the same as what is used for A
Series. Figure 8 and 9 show the surface characteristics and the roundness of the
ceramic bearing under the same test condition as the shaft. Due to the precision and the
advantages of the material, CeraDyna C results in an even more reliable performance.
Furthermore, the patented design of the bearing makes this high-end application more
cost effective.
