Powell Unique Tour Experience with optional daily yoga practice hosted by Carrie J Meyer, former resident of Kyoto and Registered Yoga Teacher MAY 21 ST -31 ST , 2012 Consider a very special, nineday sightseeing experience of the incomparably beautiful temples, shrines, gardens, and more in Kyoto, the ancient and modern, cultural capital of Japan. This tour, created and led by former Kyoto resident Carrie Meyer, integrates an optional daily yoga practice with walking tours of several world-class sights and remarkably ambient places in Kyoto. The experience of food in Kyoto is like a vacation of its own. Participants in our limited-sized group are asked to arrive on May 21st to settle in and get oriented. The itinerary of activities commences on the morning of May 22nd and concludes on May 30th with departures or elective onward travel on May 31st. What would make you a good candidate for this memorable excursion: An appreciation for and interest in the culture of traditional and contemporary Japan The ability and willingness to walk (up to a few miles on some days), mostly on flat grades, with some slopes The initiative and independence to pursue your own interests on free days, alone or with others , or just relax; plenty of support and information will be available to get you to your places/activities of interest The cost of the tour will include: 10 nights accommodation from May 21st through May 31st -7 nights in a well-appointed western-style hotel, single occupancy or elective double -3 nights in a family-run, Japanese-style inn (shared occupancy in a tatami-mat rooms is part of the cultural experience of traditional Japan) Breakfast every day, lunch on days with scheduled activities, and dinners on three nights (instead of over-scheduling meals, our tour will provide for days with free choice of restaurants as well as honoring one’s appetite and desire to share meals or have more down-time) Admission to temples, gardens, performances, or classes listed on the itinerary Transportation to/from scheduled sights, activities, and meals Once-daily yoga practice with Carrie, offered at a level appropriate for all levels The cost of the tour will not include: Air fare or transportation to/from airports (your respective US airport and one of two airports in Osaka) Additional meals to those provided per itinerary, snacks, or alcohol (countless restaurants and plenty of low-cost groceries can be found) The willingness to share time-space and get along with up to seven other lovely people in your group Elective admission to additional temples, gardens, and other venues/events not specified on the itinerary The flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes in the schedule due to weather and other variables Elective activities and shopping; transportation to/ from elective activities Although Kyoto could be an overwhelming experience of what to do if one did not know how to navigate there, Carrie has striven to offer a rich, yet balanced, itinerary and a lovely, while cost-effective, tour. Some of the most fulfilling experiences may include meandering through temples along the Philosopher's Path, gazing mesmerized at incomparably elegant, masterfully designed Kyoto gardens, appreciating the ancient ambience and nuanced architecture of preserved Buddhist and Shinto structures, observing the simple dedication of shrines whether in highprofile areas or hidden pockets of neighborhoods... The balance is due by February 4th, 2012. Payments beyond the deposit may be made in segments or by credit card as long as the balance is paid in full by February 4th. It is strongly recommended that you purchase traveler’s insurance, as a full refund will not be possible after January 15th, 2012. Refund schedule on full payment: 100% by January 15th, 2012; 75% by February 4th, 2012; 50% by March 4th, 2012; 25% by April 1st, 2012 and 0% after April 1st. If you cancel and the tour fills up after your cancellation, you will receive a full refund minus $250 in administrative costs. Please do not purchase plane tickets until the tour is confirmed. There will be a 100% refund if Carrie cancels the tour.
