MOUNTAIN HUTS/REFUGES
If the weather changes suddenly (and it can do so very quickly in
the mountains) or if a mist closes in, turn around or take shelter
in a mountain hut/refuge. Never leave the marked hiking trail and
avoid short cuts. In early summer do not cross snowfields
(danger of slipping).

HIKING PINS
Of course, hiking pins can also be obtained in Saalbach
Hinterglemm. By logging in at the specified checkpoint, one can
collect the “hiking” points which automatically convert to a hiking
pin once the allocated number of points are obtained.
With the “digital” hiking pin you can go to the Tourist Office and
pick up real metal made pins. PS: The classic control card for
punch-marking will of course still be available.

NEW: SummitLynx IN SAALBACH HINTERGLEMM
As from now on, every hiker has the tracking tool for the SEVEN
SUMMITS in his/her own hands: Their smartphone. With this app
one can log each of the seven summits with an entry and photo
of themselves at the summit (eg. With the summit cross in the
background). The operation can be made either live or off-line.
The entire tour history will be stored on the phone in order that
it can be uploaded at a later date. More on the theme of the
SEVEN SUMMITS on saalbach.com

STORMS IN THE MOUNTAINS
On a mountain tour, one must always keep an eye on the weather
situation and if a storm is brewing, abandon the tour immediately.
Leave the mountain peaks and ridges and avoid areas of water
(lakes and streams) and solitary trees.

information brochure from the lift company.
WEATHER INFORMATION/ TV PANORAMA/
INFORMATION CHANNEL
Follow the weather forecast and take note of the current weather
conditions (media and locals). If a storm has been forecasted,
choose a route that includes a mountain hut/refuge along the way
for shelter if need be, or that you return back to the valley in the
early afternoon. Live information regarding weather conditions
are shown on television daily.
Sausteigen

Something to offer for the whole family, for bikers and hikers as
well as numerous events allow one to experience dreamlike days
full of fun and variety. When taking a pause at one of the cosy
mountain huts, spoil yourself with culinary delights from the
region. Let yourself go and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the
Pinzgauer grass mountains.
PREPARING FOR A HIKE
Study the route you are preparing for on the Hiking Map and
advise your landlord of your planned hike and the approx. time
you plan to return. Ask for tips from the locals.

Short Description:
For those who are in tip-top shape, surefooted and experienced mountain
hikers, a new challenge awaits you: The “Seven Summits of Saalbach
Hinterglemm”. This 24 kilometre long mountain tour will take you over the
highest peaks of the Glemm Valley to an altitude of 1 413 metres and is
a tour for hardy and fit individuals. After the ascent with the Schattberg
X-press the Seven Summits tour starts. Over the Stemmerkogel and
Hochkogel, follow the signposts for the ascent over the Hochsaalbachkogel.
Continue over the Bärensteigkogel, Manlitz and Mittagskogel to the highest
mountain in the Glemm Valley, the Geißstein which stand at 2 363 m.
Preserve some energy for the tricky descent over the Birgl at the end of the
valley. Along this route there are no serviced mountain huts and it is a good
idea to plan beforehand: only possible with good equipment, ample
provisions and water. Good weather conditions are required for this tour.
Starting point: Kohlmais lift top station Saalbach
Starting point: Village Square Saalbach

Short Description:
Many attractions are awaiting you at the Talschluss. Such as, the “Magic”
World of the Devil’s Water at the end of the valley, a bountiful theme
park with play and wellness stations based around the element of water.
Next to this, you will find the Schnitza’s Holzpark (Carpenter’s park), an
adventure area centred around the element of wood with alpine minigolf,
Tamara the cow, bowls, balancing course, motor games and many other
“wooden” games. Alongside the Schnitza’s Holzpark, you will find Austria’s
largest High Rope Course and Europe’s longest zip-line, where one
can fly like Superman over the Talschluss or balance on small beams at a
dizzying height! The Baumzipfelweg (tree-top path) with the Golden Gate
Bridge of the Alps, is next to the Lindlingalm and starts with the 200 metre
long hanging bridge which stands at an altitude of 1.300 meters.
After crossing the bridge the 650 metre “Baumzipfelweg” starts – a robust
circular path made of Larch wood. From here continue over steps, towers
and bridges on several different levels of which are up to 30 metres above
the ground and through the tree-tops.

By taking an easy-going and relaxing walk around the Zwölferkogel
mountain peak, one can learn a lot more about the Glemm Valley.
For example, how the surrounding farming area progressed into one of the
most successful tourist destinations. Also, about the local expressions and
legends of the valley and how the forest and mountain pastures are used
for hunting and to maintain the mountain lifts in the Glemm Valley.
