For animation students and professionals

For 48 hours, around 15 teams of 3 people, composed of European animation students and
professionals from production studios, will participate to a creative challenge: to produce 10 seconds
of animation per team, based on a key image designed by a great name in animation (2012: Ben & Julia;
2013: Raoul Servais; 2014: Franck Dion ; 2015: Michel Ocelot).
Once the creative process is over, all the video sequences will be pieced together and mixed up with a
soundtrack to create a short film that will be screened at the closing ceremony of the Fête de l’anim’ on
Sunday, March 27th.
THEME
Each team will have to use the key image at the beginning and at the end of their sequence.
CALENDRIER
Tuesday, March 22nd, 4pm: launch of the Marathon (unveiling of the image, start of the challenge)
Thursday, March 24th, 4pm: film submission deadline
Friday 25th et Saturday 26th : editing and sound designing by the organisers
(while the teams enjoy the festival)
Sunday 27th, 9pm : public screening in the presence of the participants
EQUIPMENT
Participants may use their own computer hardware.
For participants coming without their computer, we are able to provide them with computers (references
unknown at the moment, still in search for partners), within the limit of computers available - you have to
bring and install your own softwares.
Be careful, while registering, please mention the exact number of required computers.

150€ per team (or 50€ per person)
Includes: Registration fees + meals (3 days) + Fête de l’anim’ general pass
Accommodation : + 15€ per day and per person (twin or three-person hotel room, breakfast included)

For 4 days, around 15 teams of 4 people, composed of European audiovisual students and professionals,
from animation, digital arts, graphic design, etc., will participate to a creative challenge: to produce
together a video mapping performance that will be screened on the façade of the Lille Opera House on
Friday, March 25th, during the Fête de l’anim’s opening ceremony.
CALENDAR
Monday, March 21st, 4pm: start of the workshop
Thursay, March 24th, 7pm: end of the workshop
Friday, March 25th, 8pm: public screening in the presence of the participants
Friday 25th to Sunday 27th: the teams can enjoy the festival
EQUIPMENT

GRAFIK BATTLE L’hybride

Thanks to a tablet and your talent, you will have between 15 and 35 minutes (according to the phase of
the competition) to give the best of yourself against your challenger!
Battles will be live streamed on a big screen, accompanied by DJs. A jury and the audience will name the
winner until the final. It is going to be a long evening, but if you succeed at each phase, you will be
named “star of the tablet” and win a prize (software, equipment…).
THEME
The participants will have between 15 and 35 minutes to make a live graphic creation based on a theme
which will be lots drawn before each new phase of the competition.
Ex. of themes: Creatures from the forest, Carnival, Baby Zombie, Retired Super-heroes, Apocalypse…
TWO SECTIONS
2D (Saturday) et 3D (Sunday) – Possibility to participate to both sections
HOURS
> Saturday, March 26th: 2D battle
8.30pm: 1/4 finals (15 minutes battles)
9.45pm: 1/2 finals (20 minutes battles)
10.30pm: Final (25 minutes battles)
> Sunday, March 27th: 3D battle
5pm: 1/4 finals (20 minutes battles)
7pm: 1/2 finals (25 minutes battles)
8pm: Final (35 minutes battles)
EQUIPMENT
Participants will not be allowed to use their own computer hardware.
A computer with softwares and a tablet will be at the disposal of each participant and provided by our
partner Pôle IIID.
Installed softwares: Photoshop CS5 (2D) / Zbrush 4R3 and Mudbox (3D)

Highlight on great names of international animation! Discover the

screenings of their short films, explanations and demonstrations.

• BEST-OF EUROPEAN SCHOOLS OF ANIMATION
Screening of student films from the best European animation
schools, in the presence of student directors.
Three screenings and two meetings focused on films from all over
Europe (Benelux, Eastern Europe, France, Germany, Scandinavia,
United Kingdom…).
• HIGHLIGHT ON REGIONAL ANIMATION
> Noranim night: this event gathers all the key actors in the
animation field from the Nord-Pas de Calais region
> Les Films du Nord: screening of the last animated shorts,
produced by the Roubaix-based studio, frequently awarded in
international festivals.
• FOCUS VISUAL DESIGN
Several independent studios and directors of animated design
will analyse their productions in their artistic, technical and
economical aspects.
