NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP 2016 The Township Public Works Department will continue its “free Curbside Fall Leaf” Collection Program for our residents. This program will start at 7:00am, Monday, October 17th. The Township crews will be making routine trips around the Township throughout the leaf pickup season. Due to weather and scheduling conflicts, it is impossible to maintain a set schedule for leaf pickup. The last trip through the Township is Monday, November 28th , so to ensure all leaves get picked up, have them curbside by 7:00am. Do not mix your leaves with any grass. NO ground NO garbage NO garden residue NO stumps/logs NO twigs or branches NO roots from trees or large plants NO grass clippings (if GRASS is mixed with leaves, we will NOT PICK UP) LEAVES ONLY REMINDER: DO NOT place any type of heavy object (pieces of wood, steel, rocks, tarp) on top of piles to weigh them down. NO plastic bags. Please note that per the Local Tax Collection Law of May 25, 1945, amended July 6, 2006, the following applies to the timely mailing of payment: Whenever the last day of a period during which payment may be made at a discount or without penalty shall fall on Saturday or Sunday or on any date which makes a legal holiday by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or of the United States, payment shall be considered timely if it is tendered or postmarked by the United States Postal Service on the succeeding secular business day. A tax collector shall not refuse to accept payment tendered or postmarked by the US Postal Service in a timely manner to this subsection. What’s Goin’ On! United States Postal Service postmark apply to all mail, including mail metered through a postage meter, postage purchased online and payments received by direct disbursement from a banking institution. Please check with the banking institution to determine the number of days required to process and mail your payment to ensure that it is received by the due date. Taxes issued in 2016 and not paid by December 31, 2016, will be turned over to the designated collector of delinquent taxes. Only cash, cashiers/certified check and money order will be accepted forms of payment 12/15/16 thru 12/31/16. Credit card convenience checks will not be accepted after 10/31/16. The Tax Office cannot accept payments after 12/31/16. Please call 610-769-3000 to be certain that the TAX office is open. Any changes in the schedule will be noted on the answering machine. In trying to avoid any type of conflict, please remember to cut back or remove trees, or any type of brush or shrubs that are on your property which are within the Township right-of-way. It is the resident’s responsibility to keep shrubs and trees overgrowth from creating a hazardous or dangerous condition. If the overgrowth interferes with public travel or impedes maintenance of a public road, our public works crew may clear and remove the overgrowth within the Township rightof-way. IRT TRAIL LOOP HISTORICAL Walk Schnecksville Playground Association Schnecksville Playground Association is currently preparing for the 2016-2017 Basketball season. SPA offers recreational teams for grades K- through 12th for both boys and girls. Travel teams for boys grades 3-8th grade and girls grade 5/6th . Visit schnecksvillesports.com to register. SPA is also in the process of setting up our Winter Lacrosse Skills and Drills program. Registrations for this program are also available via our website, until late December. Allow 3 hours at a leisurely pace with occasional stops to view buildings, historical sites and landmarks. Bring water, a camera, and binoculars. The IRT traverses the sites of the first anthracite fueled iron company and the first Portland Cement Company in America, both of which contributed to the Industrial Revolution. No less than 30 historical sites and landmarks will be presented. This Trail is a loop with an even surface of asphalt or packed millings and passes through several communities. The hike starts at the Whitehall Parkway Barn on Chestnut Street, just west of MacArthur Road by the traffic light at Sheetz. What’s Goin’ On! 11 North Parkland 2016 Knee Hi Team had a fun, exciting and positive season; from preseason practice to their final LVLBL Championship game. Players improved their baseball skills over the course of the season and every player contributed with hustle and hits, getting on base, stealing bases and scoring runs! We had a strong and diverse pitching staff and good defense throughout the season. Most of the boys will move on to 90 foot bases next year; however, some are eligible for 80 foot bases at our Knee Hi level in 2017. The North Parkland Knee Hi Team had an 11 & 5 regular season record and finished 4th in the LVLBL standings. N.P. progressed through the post season playoffs and advanced to the championship game. The N.P. Team finished 2nd in the LVLBL Tournament and concluded their season with an overall 15 & 7 record. Great appreciation to parents, players and coaching staff who all contributed towards an extremely successful season on and off the baseball field. The rebate program benefits Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters with only half of Social Security income counting towards income eligibility for the program. Residents, who meet the program’s guidelines and who have not already filed a 2015 Property Tax and Rent Rebate Application, may qualify for a rebate of up to $650. Claimants are reminded to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information for What’s Goin’ On! their claims to be processed accurately and quickly.
