Hey Kids!
These pages have lots of colouring in, mazes,
puzzles and activities just for you!
Each page teaches you about different
things that you might have seen in the
Air Force.
So let’s get started and have some fun!
This book belongs to:

no part may be reproduced by any process without prior written permission.
The F/A-18 Hornet is a fast jet which is based at RAAF Base Williamtown in
New South Wales and RAAF Base Tindal in the Northern Territory. It can fly really
fast with a speed of up to 2,200 km per hour and is flown by just one pilot.
1
The Aviation Fire Truck is used for rescues and firefighting.
Fire trucks are based at RAAF bases all around Australia.
Each truck can have a crew of 4 firefighters.
2
Military Working Dogs and their handlers look after the security of the Air Force’s
aircraft and bases. They protect all of our bases across Australia and overseas.
3
The Royal Australian Air Force Badge which can be shortened to the RAAF
Badge is the official badge of the Air Force. The badge was designed in 1939
and the words Per Ardua Ad Astra means ‘through struggle to the stars’.
4
The hot air balloon is one of the oldest forms of aircraft. Its speed is as
fast as the wind. The crew for operating the Air Force Balloon is one pilot
and three ground crew. The kangaroo with the circle around it is called the
Roundel. Did you know that the Roundel is on all Air Force aircraft?
5
6
The Air Force is very proud to be able to help people who sometimes find
themselves hurt or injured in Australia and other parts of the world. Lots of
people including doctors, nurses, aircrew and ground crew make this important
flight possible. The Air Force flies these patients to hospital for medical care.
Try redrawing the Royal Australian Air Force Ensign in the above space.
The Royal Australian Air Force Ensign is the Air Force’s own special flag.
You can see it on the uniform of people who are in the Air Force as well
as at the top of the main flag pole at each Air Force base.
7
Did you know that there are both girl and boy pilots in the Air Force.
They fly lots of different kinds of aircraft such as the giant C-17A
transport aircraft and the exciting new F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet.
8
The Roulettes are the Air Force’s own aerobatic flying team. They display their
excellent flying skills with twists and turns and speeds of up to 590km per
hour. There are seven pilots in the team. Have you seen them?
9
Can you spot 5 differences between these pictures?
Air Force aircraft technicians get to work on all types of equipment
as well as many different aircraft. How good are you at fixing things?
