About Us

SCCA
The association currently boasts up to 62 Senior Teams and 97 Junior Teams ( as far south as Caboolture/ Burpengary and North
to Gympie ) as well as its flagship structure in the Brisbane Grade Competition, The Sunshine Coast Scorchers.
The Scorchers comprise 1st and 2nd grade Men’s Teams, a 2nd grade Women’s Team and The Lord’s Taverners Team.
The Scorchers
The Sunshine Coast Scorchers, the flagship Team of the Sunshine Coast Cricket Association, entered the
Brisbane Grade Competition in the 1995/96 season and won the First Grade Premiership in the 2005/06
Season.
The Scorchers Programme consists of 1st , 2nd grade, 2nd Grade Womens and the Lords Taverners teams
competing in the Brisbane Premier Grade Competition.
Scorchers 1st Grade team last contested a semi final (2 Day Competition)in 2014-15 season being beaten by
eventual winners Valleys ,and since then have just fallen short to reach the finals series after defeats in the
last round of Competition.
Scorchers 1st Grade have competed in 3 of the last 5 Grand Finals in T20 competition but still to taste
success.
The aim of the Scorchers Programme is to provide a pathway for young Sunshine Coast Cricketers to
achieve at the highest level of Grade Cricket in South East Queensland and which then open doors to State,
National and Big Bash T20 Representation.
Scorcher players who have realised their cricketing aspirations include Ashley Nofke (Queensland/WA and
Australia ODI ) , James Bazely ( Australian U/19’s, Australian Cricket Academy XI) , Alecz Day (Wellington)
and Nick Selman (Glamorgan).
It is the Association’s belief that just as young Australian Cricketers aspire to wear the Baggy Green so too
should young Sunshine Coast Cricketers aspire to wear the Baggy Red.
The Scorchers Home is at John Blanck Oval Buderim ( an hour north of Brisbane) where training facilities
are second to none in Premier Grade cricket in Australia.
These include 6 artificial wickets with 1 Bowling Machine permanently stationed (4 nets floodlit), 4 large
Cricket ovals, and state of the art fully enclosed spacious Floodlit Turf practice wickets, with up to 3 wickets
running at any one time.
