Directors’ Note
Cinderella Crew
Surprisingly, this musical, by the legendary team of Rodgers &
Hammerstein, has never been performed on the Broadway stage. It’s only been
seen through made-for-TV movies and on local stages across the country. The
story is nearly identical to the one popularized by Disney in 1950 (and you’ll see a
few references to that movie), but the songs are much richer and the characters
more defined. Although it’s one of the most beloved children’s stories of all-time,
it also brings people of all ages together. Some in our cast loved the original Julie
Andrews version (1957), while others grew up watching Leslie Ann Warren’s
version (1965). Yet another generation remembers the second, and more diverse,
remake in 1997, with Brandy as Cinderella and the late Whitney Houston as her
Fairy Godmother.

In every version, though, the same phrase takes center stage: “impossible
things are happening every day.” It’s a simple but powerful message, encouraging
everyone – young or old – to dream big, stay optimistic, and believe in something
beyond your comprehension. That’s a daily reminder we needed over the past
three months. With a cast of nearly 50, a large production team, and many
difficulties and challenges along the way, this production seemed like an
impossible process at times. But thanks to the talented and dedicated people on
and off-stage, everything came together. It’s possible!

Mary Kim Whiteside (Townsperson) is in her 7th production with SCP. Favorite roles
include Ernestina Monies in Hello, Dolly!, and more recently Rene in Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels for IVT in Sandwich. When not on stage she is mother to five amazing young
people and Innkeeper at The Paper Doll House, Sycamore. Hugs and Kisses for your
support; Kris, Chris, Josh, Rick, Sarah & Joey!
Adam Wirth (Townsperson) first worked with Stage Coach Players in A Christmas
Carol and is happy to have the chance to work with Sue and the gang again. Past
experiences include the role of Rooster in Annie, Jr. and Professor Harold Hill in Music
Man, Jr., both Penguin Project productions. Most recently, he played the Ozian Guard in
CCT's The Wizard of Oz. To Vince and Courtney: “Thanks for all your help!”
Shelly Wistar (Townsperson) is making her Stage Coach Players debut on stage! Theatre
is something she is truly passionate about and hopes to continue to be a part of it.
Julia Woodward (Townsperson) recalls that once upon a time (1986), she auditioned for
SCP because she wanted to play on stage too! Many great friends and good times later,
you will still find Julie up there just about any time she is given the opportunity. In 1999,
Julie was honored with SCP's SCOTY award. Last summer you may have seen her in
Grease as the strict but loveable teacher, Miss Lynch, and the summer before that in SCP's
comedy Leaving Iowa as the show's “Multiple Character Female.” She hopes you all have
a magical experience as we present you our version of Cinderella.
Cinderella Bios
Alison Anderson (Townskid/Young Princess) is a 5th grader at Lincoln Elementary and
this is her first performance with Stage Coach Players. Alison also takes Karate classes, is
in Girl Scouts and loves to play soccer. She would like to thank her family and friends for
all of their support and looks forward to being in future productions with Stage Coach.
Sheryl Bragg (Townsperson) is thrilled to be performing in her third production with
Sue Johnson. After several months away from the theatre, this cast and the stage feel like
home! Sheryl holds a degree in Music Education and teaches private lessons in her spare
time. She also enjoys traveling when not performing- her most recent globe trot was to
Dublin, Ireland. Cheers!
Jennifer Brown (Townsperson) is excited to be a part of her first SCP production and to
be returning to the theater. Before her 2-year hiatus from theater, she enjoyed being a part
of musicals and plays during high school. She is a Spanish and International Relations
major with a Japanese minor at Northern Illinois University. She would like to thank her
friends, family and boyfriend for their support. Enjoy!
Peggy Carey (Fairy Godmother) is making her Stage Coach debut with this production.
Peggy wants to thank her father for teaching her to love music, her brother for always
believing in her and her husband for having supper ready when she got home from
rehearsals - no matter how late it was! She wants to remind all the 'children' in her life
including her Jr. Choir, her nieces/nephews and yes, her real life god-daughters, to always
believe that impossible things happen every day!
Hanna Chriss (Townskid/Young Princess) is excited to be in her fourth Stage Coach
production! She also has been involved with CCT and the Genoa Children's
Community Theater. She enjoys reading and writing outside of theater. She wants to
thank Sue for another great show! Enjoy! :)
Lauren Chriss (Townsperson/Horse) is making her fourth appearance with Stage
Coach and seventh overall. She has also been involved with CCT and the Genoa
Children's Community Theatre. Lauren LOVES to read and design clothes. She would
like to be a fashion designer when she grows up! She is in the 5th Grade and plays the
Alto Saxophone. She would love to thank her family for all the support and all the car
rides!
Richard Christensen (Townsperson) is happy to be appearing in Cinderella after a 10year hiatus from Stage Coach in Nashville, Tennessee. While there he assisted in the
formation of Encore Theatre Company of Wilson County. He also appeared in The Odd
Couple, Last One Out, and Inherit the Wind. He was last seen in Curtains here at Stage
Coach last summer. Richard lives in DeKalb and works at NIU.
Abby Cooper (Townsperson/Horse) is in 6th grade at Hiawatha Junior High. She has
been acting in school plays since 3rd grade. This is her first Stage Coach production and
she recently participated in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat with CCT.
She has enjoyed making new friends and acting on a larger stage. Abby plays percussion in
the school band and in her free time likes to sing and make funny videos.
Ashley Davis (Townsperson) is still thrilled to be back at Stage Coach after working for a
year in Chicago as a deckhand on the Chicago River. Although she's not playing a
loveable bimbo this time (like she did in Curtains), she's still playing a role she's very
familiar with: the klutz. She's heard every typecasting joke, so there's no point in trying
another one! Ashley's favorite role is Fruma Sarah from the SCP production of Fiddler
On The Roof.
Gloria Dennison (Stepmother) has been involved with Stage Coach for more years than
she cares to mention and has done just about everything. Gloria was last seen as Artemis
in A Christmas Carol. Her favorite role at this time is grand-mama to granddaughters,
Katriella, Kajsa, Dera and Ayla. Gloria would like to thank her husband, Tom for his
never-ending supply of patience, his sense of humor and his willingness to put up with a
second home at Stage Coach Players.
Kelsey DeSchepper ( Joy) is a Spanish Major and Communications Minor at Aurora
University. Cinderella marks her debut performance on the SCP stage, but she is no
stranger to theatre. Kelsey has been acting for seven years and has been seen as Violet
Bradman in Blithe Spirit, Lucy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Deb Olson in
Amber Waves to name a few. When not on stage Kelsey can be heard playing the piano,
being funny, or serving your favorite custard at Ollies Frozen Custard. She would also like
to add that she's friendly and smiles a lot, unlike her character portrayal on stage. "Thanks
to everyone who has supported me. Hope you enjoy the show!"

she loves most. She was seen on stage last year in Curtains and helped with the
choreography of Hello Dolly. Melissa has been dancing for 15 years and has been
involved in musicals ever since she was five years old. She works at NIU and is a full time
graduate student pursuing her master's degree in kinesiology & physical education. She
also has been teaching dance at Debbie's Dance Dimensions for four years and loves every
minute of it. Melissa would like to thank the cast and crew of Cinderella for all of their
hard work and dedication. She would also like to thank her friends and family for putting
up with her hectic schedule and always encouraging her to follow her heart, no matter
where it leads.

He was recently seen in his 8th Christmas Carol. He lives in Sycamore and works in

of his favorite recent roles include Juan Peron (Evita), Captain Von Trapp (The Sound of
Music), Ali Hakim (Oklahoma), and Gaston (Beauty and the Beast). Mike was most
recently seen as Lt. Frank Cioffi in Curtains and as Vince Fontaine in Grease. He will also
be directing Guys and Dolls for Stage Coach this summer. He would like to thank his wife
and their two daughters, Emily and Amy, for their love and support.
Janice Sodoma (Townsperson) is very excited to be performing with Stage Coach in the
magical production of Cinderella as the girl in the gown of satin jade. Janice has been
doing theatre for many years now with various groups in Illinois and this marks her 16th
production (her sixth with Stage Coach). Past show favorites include Seussical, Oliver,
Our Town, and Curtains. Janice wants to thank her friends and family for making the 50mile trek from the suburbs to come see this show and for putting up with her as she
commutes back and forth from Westmont to rehearsal every night.
Cal Thompson (Townsperson) has performed in ten other shows but this is his first
show with Stage Coach. He is very happy that he is experiencing it with a very fun and
talented cast. Cal is currently a junior at Genoa-Kingston High School. He most recently
starred as Tony in their spring production of The Boy Friend. He would like to thank his
directors and choreographers for all of their hard work and patience to put on this
marvelous show .

worked with SCP in set design, construction, special painting and performances. His
favorite roles were being Avram in Fiddler on the Roof, and Sam Hendrix in Wait until
Dark.

own living room! He is a second grader who loves to do Karate and play his Nintendo DS.
His family is very proud of him!

Stetson in Curtains. Vince would like to thank the cast, crew and directors for making
this show a memorable experience. And you the audience...Enjoy the show!!!
Courtney Nelson (Townsperson) loves Disney's Cinderella and says the musical version
is just that much better! She is thankful for all the new friends she's made in this cast and
has had fun portraying a different type of girl in this show. Courtney thanks everyone in
her family and friends for coming and especially her boyfriend for being there for her
during this production.
Emrys Draper (Townskid/Young Prince) is a 4th grader at Lincoln Elementary School.
He plays soccer for the local NIFC club and also participates in baseball, basketball,
track, and Cub Scouts. He was featured as the Little Boy in the 2010 Lincoln School
winter production of The Polar Express and debuted with Stage Coach last year as Tiny
Tim in A Christmas Carol.
Lawrence Nepodahl (Minister) has been a Stage Coach member since 1996. He was in
last year's spring musical, A Funny Thing..., playing the part of procurer Marcus Lycus. He
was the 1998 SCOTY award recipient.
Lincoln Draper (Carriage Footman) is a 6th grader at Huntley Middle School. He plays
soccer for the local NIFC club and also participates in football, track, Scholastic Bowl
and Boy Scouts. Although this is his first Stage Coach Production, Lincoln participated
in Huntley Forensics this past fall, including a rendition of Abbott and Costello's famous
“Who's on First.”
th
Judy O'Connor (Music Director) is celebrating a milestone with Cinderella: her 20
show as music director! She has been actively involved since 2000, but also did a onetime stint in a 1986 show. Many memorable productions come to mind, but the
following need to be included in that category: Gypsy, Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat, Clue, Les Miserables, Seussical, High School Musical, Bye Bye,
Birdie, Hello Dolly, and last summer's Grease. She also did a four-time run in annual
Christmas Carol productions and looks forward to doing Guys and Dolls this summer.
Judy is a past SCOTY award winner. She is thrilled to be working with such a wonderful,
talented cast, crew, and production staff and gives a special "shout out" to her right-hand
sidekick, James, the Magnificent!
Mandy Paschen (Townsperson) is excited to be part of her first musical, after 10 shows
on and off stage at Stage Coach. She wants to thank Sue and Ryan for their direction, and
those whose support and friendship has not gone unnoticed. Love you guys!
Shawn Eaton (Herald) is appearing in his second show with Stage Coach after being in A
Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum last spring. He enjoys singing and
dancing, and particularly appreciates the chance to perform in front of friends and

another one! Ashley's favorite role is Fruma Sarah from the SCP production of Fiddler

to everyone who has supported me. Hope you enjoy the show!"

commutes back and forth from Westmont to rehearsal every night.

show with Stage Coach.

Directors’ Note

Dear Patron:
We hope you have noticed the improvements made
to our theatre. The months of January, February and
March were a great opportunity for us to do some
upgrades. We hope these will make your theatre
experience more comfortable.
We want to take this opportunity to extend a special THANK YOU to Ron and
Nancy Proesel, our benefactors, who provided the updating and improvement to our
restrooms. Their support of our theatre has been extremely generous and for that we are
most grateful.
Additionally thank you, to you and your fellow patrons, for your wonderful response
over the years to our 50/50 raffles. The proceeds from these raffles, along with our
income from ticket sales and donations from our supporters, have not only enabled us to
continue to provide the area with live theatre but also enabled us to have the funds
available to complete projects such as the new carpeting that has been installed this
winter.
We ask that you take notice of the businesses and individuals who are our advertisers
in our programs and that you extend a “thank you” to them by giving your support to
their businesses and services.
We hope you will return soon to Stage Coach Players and... ENJOY THE SHOW!
Sincerely,
Susan M Johnson
President
