On arrival at Paro Airport, you will be received by your tour guide and Drukpa volunteers of Bhutan. You will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan with area of 2,067sq.km. Thimphu is also the name of the surrounding valley district. With a population of 104,214(2010), Thimphu Bhutan’s largest city. Thimphu is located at an altitude of 2320 m. / 7656 ft. The Taktsang monastery is perched on the edge of a steep cliff, about 900 meters above Paro Valley at an altitude of 3180 meters. Guru Rinpoche (8th century spiritual master) is said to have flown on the back of a tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands. Chumphu Nye. This is the most sacred place of vajarayogni. Chumphu Nye is the second tarsi-the vajara yogni statue is not resting on anything..its just float in the air. That is because the statue is not man-made. It is Vajara yogni (Dorji Phamo) who appeared in person and turned herself into statue.
