THE HOTEL
Magnificently located on a terraced hillside in an exclusive
and secluded corner of the Tuscan coast, IL PELLICANO
blends beauty, luxury and tranquility with rare touches
you will only find at an independent hotel: attention to
detail, service with a genuine smile, and pride in delivering
a uniquely gratifying experience to the world’s most
demanding clientele.
HISTORY
Opened in 1965, IL PELLICANO was built to commemorate
the love of a British aviator, Michael Graham, and a
member of the American jet set, Patsy Daszel, who, in
the 1960s, chose this impervious spot on the Argentario
peninsula to build a hidden resort. Today, fifty years later, IL
PELLICANO is a world famous hotel. In 1979 the property
was sold to Roberto Sciò, the present owner also of the
sister hotel nearby Rome, LA POSTA VECCHIA. In 1982, IL
PELLICANO became a member of the Relais & Châteaux
Association and since 2013 a member of The Leading Hotels
of the World.
ROOMS
Our rooms and suites are surrounded by the fragrant
Mediterranean scrubland, among cypress trees and
centuries-old olive trees with a spectacular view of the
Argentario sea. The furnishings and paintings in all of the
rooms create the atmosphere of a typical Tuscan home, with
ceramic objects and bathrooms with warm wood finishes.
All rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a safe
and minibar. The rooms, cottages and suites that welcome
the international jet set, are all different, but all decorated in
muted colours, original decorations and refined furnishings
and fabrics, chosen by designer Marie Louise Sciò.

The refined restaurant IL PELLICANO enjoys a unique
view of the Tyrrhenian coast. The surprising gourmet
creations of Michelin-starred Chef will delight even the
most refined palates.
Open-air environment with an open-plan kitchen,
serving Tuscan specialities. Il PELLIGRILL has an
enchanting seafront terrace.

The cocktail bar, with relaxed atmosphere and live
music, accompanies our guests evenings.
The wellness centre offers a wide range of treatments
for face and body, a Calidarium Roman steam bath, a
gym with the latest generation Technogym equipment,
a hairdresser and a heated salt-water swimming pool.
The Boutique offers clothing, sailing wear, jewellery,
handbags and beauty products from famous Italian
and international designers.

The wine cellar LA CANTINA, recognised by Wine
Spectator with its Excellence Award, offers over 1200
labels: from Tuscan big guns to vintage Champagne,
glorious whites and lesser-known treats from the local
Maremma region.
The Beach Club staff will supply you with beach
umbrellas, sun beds and towels in the private terraced
beach accessible by lift or by the heated swimming
pool. Cocktails, light meal service and private boat
excursions are at guest’s disposal.
