Gregor Gorsic, Pastor (815) 886-4165 ext. 317 My dear family of St. Andrew the Apostle! As we celebrate Pentecost this Sunday and the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Church, I am so grateful to the Holy Spirit who guided us these past few months in the New Principal Search process! So with great joy, a joy that comes from the Holy Spirit of God, I announce the New Principal for St. Andrew the Apostle School: Carol Albreski. Below is her Letter of Introduction. Mrs. Albreski begins in July, yet over these next months of May and June she will visit our school family as we all get to know each other. Thank you to all who participated in our survey for the qualities you thought most important for our new principal — the results were of great importance in the search process! Thank you also to all who prayed to the Holy Spirit for wisdom and for a successful outcome of this search — again, so vitally important in this process! I am also grateful for the nine members of our New Principal Search Committee who put in over 25 hours this past April! They reviewed the survey results, sorted through many applications and resumes, and engaged their wisdom in 14 interviews. Thank you, Mrs. Carol Albreski — your lifelong vocation to Catholic education has now led you to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic School and to our parish family — a mutual blessing for you and for our school and parish family! In the loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Fr. Gregor INTRODUCING OUR NEW PRINCIPAL My name is Carol Albreski and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic School. In Matthew 4:19, Jesus asked his apostles to “Come Follow Me”, and thirty-two years ago I chose to answer that call and make Catholic Education my lifelong vocation. My career began in Erie, Pennsylvania at the same elementary school I attended as a child and I was proud to be an Our Lady of Peace Crusader. I am thrilled to be a Crusader once again. While the standards, assessments, and methods have evolved through the years, one thing has remained clear and constant for me as an educator: It’s all about the kids. I recognize the role of you the parent(s) as the primary educators of your children and understand my role as a support to you while you guide your child’s spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth. For the last 17 years, I have been the fourth grade teacher and assistant principal at St. Matthew Parish School in Glendale Heights. As an educator in the Diocese of Joliet, I firmly believe that “WE TEACH MORE”. In my role as spiritual leader, I will model respect for the diversity of all and provide opportunities to nurture the spiritual growth of teachers, students ,and families alike. As your instructional leader, I will support the staff of Saint Andrew as they continue to use best practices and technologically integrated lessons which provide our students with the skills necessary to be successful 21st century learners. As your principal, my door will always be open not only to the students of St. Andrew the Apostle but the parents and members of the Saint Andrew community as well. In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting all of you as we continue together on our journey as disciples of Christ. Peace and Blessings, Carol Albreski Page Four May 15, 2016 The Society of St. Vincent DePaul St. Andrew the Apostle Conference …neighbor helping neighbor... In fact, we celebrate Mother’s Day for very good reason in the month of May.” “For the unceasing prayer of a just man is of great avail” (James 5:16). “Think bigger than favors just for me; think of the Church, think of souls, think of conversions, think of vocations, vocations to celibacy, vocations to marriage, vocations to the priesthood, vocations to religious life… for people who desire to take their baptismal call seriously. We need a lot of those people, the laity…. We need to ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers through the intercession of Mary, especially this month.” “Yes, [the Rosary] is repetitive, but it shouldn’t grow old. And, I think, the Lord wants us to repeat it, because he wants to test our desire. He wants to make our desire deliberate and make it grow.” “Mary lived with her eyes fixed on Christ, treasuring his every word: ‘She kept all these things, pondering them in her heart’ (Lk 2:19; cf. 2:51). The memories of Jesus, impressed upon her heart, were always with her, leading her to reflect on the various moments of her life at her Son’s side. In a way those memories were to be the ‘rosary’ which she recited uninterruptedly throughout her earthly life” (St. John Paul II, Rosarium Virginis Mariae, no. 11). http://stjosemaria.org/podcast-may-month-mother-mary/ MAY 6, 2016 BY ST. JOSEMARIA INSTITUTE Podcast | May: The Month of Our Mother Mary The Fullness of the Holy Spirit The church wakes up to an amazing message this morning. Look around and see who has been called. Listen to the voices of those who proclaim Jesus is Lord. You’ll find no race of people left out; you’ll find no language on earth unfit to proclaim the glory of God. We call Pentecost Sunday the “birthday of the church.” In many ways, the church is still being born. Only when we all know the peace Jesus offered in today’s Gospel will we really know the fullness of the Holy Spirit. St. Paul assures us in today’s second reading that “all of us have been given to drink of the one Spirit.” When we look around us in the church we should see everyone. But we don’t. Not yet. What is holding us back from fully embracing the one Body of Christ? When will we see our differences as manifestations of the same Holy Spirit? Somos cristianos. Somos personas de amor.
