The State of California has also adopted
20 by 2020 Plan which requires all
water purveyors to achieve a 20%
reduction in water use per-capita by
2020. The District has been working
toward this with changes such as low
flow nozzles on the sewer line cleaning
trucks and replacing a washing machine
with a low flow version.
Addit ional water conservatio n
information is available on the District’s
website and then clicking on the
Resource tab, then Water
Conservation. There are conservation
tips and links to various websites that
talk about how you can help reduce
your water use.
Listed in the table below are the elements of the District’s Stage 1 Water Shortage
Emergency Plan and ways the District can help you meet these goals.
The Governor of the State of California declared a Statewide Drought Emergency in January
2014 which executed a statewide water conservation campaign and to call on Californians to
voluntarily reduce their water usage by 20%. In addition, it called on local suppliers to
implement their water shortage contingency plans. As a result, at their February 11, 2014,
meeting the North Tahoe Public Utility District Board of Directors put into effect the
District’s Stage 1 conservation measures for voluntary water reduction as described in the
District’s Urban Water Management Plan.

talk directly with staff and their representatives on the Commission.”
