Day 2 Borromeo Islands
(from Lake Orta to Stresa) 24km
A leisurely day visiting the stunning Borromeo Islands,
located just offshore from the centre of Stresa. Take the
boat out to Isola Bella, which houses a beautiful stately
home, and elegant Italianate gardens. Continue by boat
to Isola Pescatore, the only island which is currently
inhabited. (This day could be ideal for a drivers day off
if staying in Stresa).
Day 3 Lake Orta (from Stresa) 24km
Explore Lake Orta today and one of Northern Italy’s best
kept secrets its capital, Orta San Giulio, has a delightful
medieval centre. Enjoy browsing the old cobbled streets
or take a boat over to the island to visit the characterful
monastery. This day could be ideal for a drivers day off if
staying in Petternasco.
Day 4 Lake Maggiore Express
(from Lake Orta to Stresa) 24km
Departing from Stresa, take the train up to Domodossola
at which point you change onto the scenic high level
railway, the Centovalli, taking you through the
mountains and down to Locarno, a bustling town on
the Swiss shores of Lake Maggiore. After revelling in
the fabulous views during your ride you will have time
to relax. Take a boat ride from this Swiss corner of Lake
Maggiore back down to Stresa, ends our day.
Day 5 Lake Como
(Como Town) 99/96km
After breakfast, travel east to Lake Como, the prettiest
lake in northern Italy. Its breathtaking mountains provide
a stunning backdrop to the magnificent gardens with
their vast array of colour. You will enjoy a scenic drive
up the west coast, passing quaint villages.
Day 6 Depart
After breakfast depart on your journey back to the UK.

of the lakeside promenade, is just a few minutes stroll from

is a delightful hotel where you can be assured of a warm
welcome by Caterina and Ezio Primatesta, the charming

spacious terraces spilling onto the lake and the added

boasting excellent lake views, serves tasty local cuisine.

directly at the hotel and there is secure coach parking
