Move-in-day - Northeastern State University
Volume 9, Issue 1
July 2015
the guide to moving on campus
Welcome to your new home away from home!
On behalf of Northeastern State University and the staff of NSU Housing,
let us be among the first to say "Welcome home and welcome to the
Riverhawk Family!" We are fully committed to assisting you in getting
settled into your new home here and to providing you with excellent
service and support during the coming year.
When you arrive on campus in August, you will notice several big changes
taking place on campus. Our new residence hall and the new Wyly Hall,
set to open August 2016, are currently under construction just north of the
Leoser complex. Wyly Hall is currently receiving an exterior and interior
remodel. The new, 344 bed building will be comprised of semi-private
suite style accommodations with bathrooms in each room. We are excited
for both facilities to come on line next fall. With construction projects,
there have been several changes to parking and traffic flow for campus.
Please be sure to review the map in this newsletter for directs regarding
parking for Move In Day as well as throughout the semester.
We hope you will take time to read and review the contents of this
newsletter. It contains practical information that will help you understand
life on campus in Tahlequah, as well as important information for
Move In Day on August 9, 2015.
Again, welcome home and have a great year!

on Monday, August 17th.
When you arrive on campus, please check in at your assigned hall. If you
don’t know your assigned hall, please contact the Housing Office prior to
Move In Day or visit the Housing Office in Leoser Center. Parents and
extended family are encouraged to park at the Webb building or Bill Willis
parking lots while their student is checking in.
Parking in front of Leoser Center and in front of Ross, Logan and Hastings
Hall will not be available. These areas are unloading zones for Move In
Day. Cars are permitted to unload in these areas for no more than 15
minutes. Be prepared to unload your vehicle and move it to a designated
parking space quickly. We will have student, staff and faculty members on
hand to help you unload your vehicle and bring your items to your room.
Residents of Haskell Hall and Seminary Suites may still park in their
designated parking lots.
Please make sure you label your items with your first and last name. It is
essential that you bring your student ID to check in.
Still unsure of what to bring with you when moving in? On the back of this
newsletter is a check list of what's appropriate to bring and what is not.
Be sure to review this check list.

Get Involved On Campus
Meal Plans
NSU has a rich variety or organizations to
complement a student’s academic life. We have over
90 organizations where students can find a place to
be involved.
In case you get bored in your dorm room, try out a
few of these activities open to all students:
If you would like to change your meal plan, you may
change it to any residential meal plan during until
the end of the first week of classes. After the first
week of classes you may only increase your meal
plan.
Room Changes
Go to football game
If you need to change rooms or halls, contact the
University Housing Office. As a department, we
encourage that roommates consider mediation
before requesting a room change. Room change
requests are accepted only during the first 6 weeks
of classes. After the first 6 weeks, room change
requests will only be reviewed and honored on an
as-needed basis. Room changes will not be acted
upon until space is available.
Sign up for Intramural Sports
Eat at the Seminary Suites Grill
Game in the lounge
Hit up the Library
Maintenance Requests
If you come across any maintenance issue in your
room, such as a burned out light bulb, leaky faucet,
or missing blinds, we have an online work order
system to resolve your issue as quickly as possible.
While each work order will be addressed, emergency
work orders will receive priority. To submit a work
order from the NSU Website select “University
Housing,” select “request forms,” and select “Housing
Maintenance Request.” Completely fill out the form
giving a brief detailed description of the problem. A
separate work order form must be completed for
each issue. For emergency work orders, please call
the RA on duty number for your building, and for
network problems call the IT Services Desk at (918)
444-5678.
Important Phone Numbers
Important Numbers
Every residence hall has a duty phone for after-hours
emergencies and to assist residents when needed.
Be sure to put your residence hall’s number in your
cell phone once you arrive on campus.

How you are Billed
The entire semester’s housing are being charged to
your student account. Your room and board is due by
the first day of classes, August 17, 2015. If you
receive financial aid, it will be applied to your
housing charges after tuition and books are paid. You
will be responsible for any remaining balance.
How to Read Your Billing Statement
Included in your university bill will be 3 types of
charges for housing and meal plans. The first type of
charge will indicate your meal plan (it may look like
this:“Meal Plan 56”). If you change your meal plan
after August 9th you will most likely see two meal
plans on your statement. Your original meal plan will
be pro-rated based on the date of your meal plan
change. The second type of charge will indicate your
room assignment (it may look like this:“Housing
Rent”). The last type of charge is very generic and is
called an “incidental” charge (it may look like this:
“Housing Incidental Charge”). These charges include
lost keys, damages, etc. Questions? Contact our
office at 918-444-4700.
Residence Life Policies
NSU is a tobacco-free campus. This includes all
residence halls on campus, parking lots, sidewalks
and academic buildings.
Alcohol is not allowed on campus for any reason.
This includes alcohol paraphernalia such as shot
glasses, posters, or empty containers.
The only “pet” allowed in the residence halls are fish.
tanks cannot exceed more than 10 gallons. Fish are
defined as fish with gills that are required to live in
water to survive.
Move-in Day Parking Instructions
Leoser & the High Rises
On Move In Day, parking lots and regulations
are changed to allow for better traffic flow and
more parking options since students may have
parents with vehicles as well as their own.
Students residing on campus must register
their vehicle to park on campus. Please bring
your license plate number and go to the
basement of the University Center. The Office of
Parking and Traffic is located across from the

About “Lofts”
The Drop Zone is the hub for mail
ser-vices. It is located in the basement
