THE AIM
Window display has long been valued by large successful stores as a means to attract
customers and retain their attention.
Windows can be used as bill boards expressing special offers or events, or magical
Christmas displays creating a sense of wonder. They can be regimented displays,
think John Lewis with their soldier rows of washing machines exactly 100mm apart or

expressing sophistication and glamour like the windows of Harrods or Zara. Harvey Nichols and Ted Baker
excell at playful and quirky, while Selfridges marries the demands of retail with always being at the cutting edge of trends.
Stores understand that good, engaging display communicates far more about them than simply what they are selling.
This is as important for local independent retailers as it is for national chains and city centre stores.
The aim, through the use of window display, is to present the High St as a stage for the EFG London Jazz Festival with a cohesive voice,
while showcasing the uniqueness of the individual stores.
The hope, is that retailers will find value in a well presented window and the use of a collective voice long after the
EFG London Jazz Festival is over.
THE PROCESS
A set of props have been concieved which are intended as a starting point for the retailer to develop their own unique window display.
Masterclasses, to help retailers free their imaginations and gain confidence in developing their ideas.
