Dear Exhibitors:
This year marks the eighty-eighth anniversary of the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show.
In addition to two great weeks of horse shows, we are looking forward to unveiling some
major improvements to our show grounds. We are honored that our first week has again
been designated as a World Champion Hunter Rider event. Highlights of this show include
the Kathryn G. Clark Challenge of Champions and the Russell Hall Jumper Classic. Our
second week of showing will culminate with the L.P. Tate Jumper Classic and the USHJA
International Hunter Derby, held in memory of Molly Crosland.
We welcome Rick Cram of Aiken, South Carolina as our Show Manager. Scott Williamson
of Wellington, Florida and Russell Frey of Fulshear,Texas will serve as judges for our
WCHR show; Jimmy Toon of South Salem, New York and Patrick Rodes of Argyle,
Texas will have the honors the second week. Mike Lowry of San Antonio, Texas will
serve as our jumper judge as well as announcer.
Proceeds from the show have been used to support local emergency healthcare organizations in the High Country, such as the Blowing Rock Rescue Squad. Through the Blue
Ridge Parkway Foundation, the horse show has contributed to the preservation and maintenance of the carriage trails in the Moses H. Cone National Park, which adjoins the horse
show grounds. We are happy to serve as a gateway for thousands of horse enthusiasts to
the twenty-six miles of trails in the Cone Estate. Our organization is also committed to
animal welfare, supporting the Watauga County Humane Society, Horse Helpers, the
AHJF Equine Relief Fund and Saddlebred Rescue.
We are most grateful that our Show is so warmly embraced by our exhibitors and spectators. This event would not be possible without the very generous support and hard work
of so many. For this we are truly grateful.
Sincerely,
Burr Collier
President
