A total of 2308 organizations were invited to complete an online survey in April - May 2013. Seventy-eight organizations (32 facility, 28 contingency, and 18 retained/hybrid) completed the survey for a response rate of 3%. Several large organizations that have participated in the previous survey did not participate this year resulting in significant swings in the survey’s results. The report has coverage on operational metrics, financials and procurement effectiveness — as well as many other areas that any recruiting organization will find useful to help benchmark performance. The following report highlights are grouped by organizational recruiting type, as the report is, by contingency, facility or in-house and retained or hybrid. There are also breakdowns by company size. A full report is available through the National Association of Physician Recruiters. CONTINGENCY • 41% of interviews resulted in placements as compared to 37% in the previous year • The leading source of placements is job boards, comprising 48% of the total • 18% of procurement is paid for by a facility or client compared to 23% in 2011 • Being focused or having a niche by specialty is 58%, compared to 33% and 29% by facility or client, respectively FACILITY • Facilities fill 60% of job orders compared to 66% in 2011 with 16% of placements coming from firms (down 14% from the prior year) • In addition to physician recruitment, 78% (up from 67% in the prior year) of respondents are responsible for recruiting physician extenders (nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants) • 58% provide a base plus commission compensation for recruiters, compared to 39% that provide base only • The average number of placements for a recruiter with 4+ years in the role is 18, compared to 14 placements for 1-3 years • 60% of interviews result in a successful placement RETAINED/HYBRID • 26% of interviews are placed compared to 21% in 2011 • On average, turnover of recruiting staff is 24% • 23% of placements resulted from mass e-mails and direct mail compared to 28% in 2011 • 72% of placements remained through the guarantee period Financial sponsors: 5 DocCafe.com is the internet’s leading website for Physician job searches.
