Congratulations to Austin Walker and Brittnee LaCasse for their outstanding performance on the PSAT. The
National Merit Scholarship Corporation has recognized Austin and Brittnee for their outstanding performance.
This past week, Sabino junior, Cameron Carver, founder of Cheetah Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated
to the preservation of cheetahs, participated in a presentation which featured Dr. Laurie Marker, an internationally renown expert on cheetahs, spoke at Reid Park Zoo. To date, Cameron’s organization has raised over

Please note that parents and students are not permitted to park in the back of
the school or in the lot adjacent to the new gym. The F-Lot is for staff, coaches

THANK YOU
I would like to personally thank Mr. Kenny Quinn and Mr. Abe Sanchez for helping two Sabino’s students
who needed help. On Friday, September 12th, Mr. Quinn and Mr. Sanchez, who travelled to Desert Edge
High School in Buckeye, AZ to watch Sabino play Desert Edge, rendered medical assistance to two Sabino
students who became sick at the game. Mr. Quinn’s and Mr. Sanchez’s quick action, willingness to help, and
genuine concern for the students’ health, allowed responders to quickly assess the situation and help treat
the students.
Thank you Mr. Quinn and Mr. Sanchez!

From the nurse’s office
Please be aware that the health office does not stock allergy medication or cold/cough medication. This includes
cough drops. Many students are coming to the health office asking for these medications. If your child needs allergy or cold/cough medication, please give the medication before school. Also, per TUSD policy you can leave overthe-counter medication in the health office for your student with a signed medication permit and a doctor’s note.
Prescription medication does not need a doctor’s note, but must be provided in a container with a current pharmacy label.
Students are allowed to carry cough drops. Any other medication, other than emergency medications allowed by
law (epinephrine, diabetes medication, and inhalers) must be kept in the health office.
The health office stocks acetaminophen, ibuprofen and liquid antacid, which is administered if a parent/guardian
has given permission on the emergency card. Per TUSD guidelines, the only other medication the health office is
allowed to regularly administer is calamine lotion, Chloraseptic spray, topical antibiotic ointment, and saline eye
drops/contact lens solution.
Please call 584-7820 if you have any questions. Thank you. Sara Little, RN

A few friendly reminders::
Reporting Absences/Tardies: Please remember to call the Attendance Office (584-7702) to report your
son/daughter as absent or tardy prior to their absence/tardy or within 48 hours after the absence or tardy. If
we do not receive notification, it will be coded as unexcused and that can have an impact on your
son/daughter’s ability to receive full credit on assignments or tests.
Appointments: If you are picking up your son/daughter prior to the end of the school day, please call
Attendance Office (584-7702) prior to picking your student up for the appointment. If we receive prior notification, we will have your son/daughter waiting for you in the Attendance Office. Please do not call/text
your student during class. If their phone goes off in class, it will be confiscated and they will receive a lunch
detention...even if it is a parent calling/texting.
Change of Address: If you have moved recently and have not updated your address on file, please do so at
your earliest convenience.
Dress code & IDs
Student IDs: Please remember to display your IDs at all times while on campus. Student IDs are one the primary ways we help keep you safe. IDs also help move students through our food service lines more quickly,
allowing for more students to get lunch and have time to eat before going to 5th period.

guidelines. Students who are not in dress code will receive a lunch detention and may be sent to the office
to change clothes. The most often cited violations are:

one or both policies will receive a lunch detention.
