DIGITAL CONCERT HALL THE BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER
www.digital-concert-hall.com D IG ITAL CONCE R T HALL tHe berliner PHilHarmoniKer liVe on tHe internet P R O G R A M M E 2 013 / 2 014 3 welcome WE LCOM E TO TH E D IG ITAL CONCE R T HALL We have a little anniversary coming up that we want to celebrate with you: it has now been five years since the Berliner Philharmoniker began transmitting their concerts in the Digital Concert Hall — live and in superb HD quality. Over 200 productions containing some 450 works have been created so far and will continue to be available in our video archive. Added to that are numerous artist interviews and a wide variety of bonus videos — all accessible not only on the Digital Concert Hall website but also as an app for mobile devices and TV. — Many of the highlights of the 2013/14 season will be in the hands of chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle. After his season-opening Mozart programme, some other especially notable events will include the Philharmonie’s 50th anniversary celebration as well as a revival of the highly praised St Matthew Passion in the semi-staging by Peter Sellars, who also this season presents his reading of the St John Passion. — As always, the concert schedule will be enriched by the presence of musical guests — relative newcomers and old masters alike: from Gustavo Dudamel and Andris Nelsons to Claudio Abbado and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. There’s also good news for fans of Lorin Maazel, who returns after a long absence to conduct a Strauss programme in the Philharmonie. And there will be two further anniversaries gracing this season: Daniel Barenboim and Bernard Haitink have both been making music with the Berliner Philharmoniker for half a century. — Our partner Deutsche Bank has supported the Digital Concert Hall since its inception in 2008. Sony provides the audio-visual recording technology. This virtual concert hall is still the only offering of its kind anywhere. We cordially invite you to explore the world of the Berliner Philharmoniker via this exciting new medium and enjoy great interpretations of timeless music. www.digital-concert-hall.com 4 D i g i ta l C o n c e r t H a l l 2 013 / 2 014 TICK ETS AN D PR ICE S Digital Concert Hall visitors have a choice between subscriptions and tickets with varying periods of validity, all available for purchase on our website by credit card, PayPal or instant bank transfer.
