Siphula ceratites (Wahlenb.) Fr. (1831) Roccella grayi Stirt. (1883) Dufourea ceratites (Wahlenb.) Sommerf. (1823) Thallus to 3 cm tall, branches to 2 mm diam, surface fissured, specially in older parts, apices rounded, cortex paraplectenchymateous, photobiont chlorococcoid. Apothecia unknown. Cortex K+ brownish, C –, KC –, Pd –; medulla K –, C –, KC –, P –, UV+ white to yellowish white; subcortex KC+ yellowish-orange; siphulin. – Circumpolar Fennoscandia, N America, Asia. Norway, Nordland, District of Junkerdalen some 30 km north of the Arctic Circle, left bank of Skaitielva, on mossy faces of siliceous rocks temporarily overrun by streamlets from the nearby Tausafjell, caespitose colonies often ice-covered during night, 940-970 m elevation, SW exposition, abundant.
