Paint the upper side of the coaster base with white paint. Let the paint dry. (The white paint helps to show off the patterns of the decoupage better) 3. Cut the napkin to the same size as the base of the coaster. 4. Separate the top layer of the napkin (the layer with the pattern) from the other layers. 5. Place the underside of the napkin design (top layer) on to the painted coaster base, so that the motif faces upwards. 6. Spread the decoupage glue on to the design, starting from the centre and working outwards. 7. Use a soft bristle brush. 8. Let the decoupage glue dry. 1 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 2 Colour the frame of the coaster with matching paint. Let the paint dry. Glue the frame to the base of the coaster, using craft glue. Mix the cold glaze varnish according to instructions. Distribute the varnish into the dip in the coaster, covering the napkin design. IMPORTANT! The layer of varnish should not be too thick to allow grouting later on. Spread the varnish evenly inside the coaster. Immediately add the transparent mosaic pieces to the still wet varnish. Now let the varnish dry out completely. Grout the mosaic surface with the grout. For this mix the grout (according to product instructions) in a mixing bowl with a spatula. 20. Grout the mosaic surface (use disposable gloves, then you can add the grout straight with your hands). 21. After 15 minutes remove excess grout with a damp sponge. 22. Repeat this several times. 23. Let the grout dry overnight. 24. Polish the mosaic surface with a soft cloth. 3 The round coasters are made in the same way, just with different materials.
