A. From the Floor
Charlie Dubberstein, Lot 997 - Has been in the

the fee.
Director Martel responded that this will be voted

Director Martel answered that he heard the Concession Stand looks nice and thank you.
Kay Chorak, Lot 139 - Would like to know why the
policy for guests keeps changing at the Gate. Can
they only get a one day pass?
Director Martel answered that the Ad Hoc Security
Commi”ee had meetings and then it came to the
Board, had discussion about all guests shall stop at
the Gate each time they come in. This will be discussed later in the meeting.
The General Manager added that they can come in
for multiple days, but if they leave, they must stop
at the Gate. The problem is that they are not stopping.
Margaret Jackson, Lot 372 - Today is International
Migratory Bird Day, wanted to make sure the mowing policy hasn't changed in regards to mowing on
the other side of the lake.
General Manager responded that it hasn't changed.
VI. New Business
A. Resolution 2016-1 Approval of Loan Documents
Director Martel read from Resolution 2016-1:
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that on May 14,
2016, the Board of Directors of Lake Wildwood
Association, Inc. hereby authorizes the execution
of certain loan agreements with La Salle State
Bank for the purpose of financing a portion of the
construction costs of the Association's new swimming pool, bathhouse and aquatic center. The loan
amount will be for a maximum of $1,200,000 or
80% of construction costs. The loans will be secured by an assignment of the special "Pool Dues"
which will be assessed to all members. Terms of
the loans will be as follows:
1. A twelve (12) month construction/draw loan
which will be established on, or about, May
20, 2016. This note will accrue interest at 3.5%.
This note will mature on, or about, May 20,
2017, at which time all accrued interest will be
payable.
2. On or about May 20, 2017, a new note will
be issued by the La Salle State Bank in the
amount of the outstanding principal balance
due on the construction note. This note will
be amortized over twenty (20) years and have
a fixed interest rate of 4.18% for the first ten
(10) years. The rate will adjust one time at the
ten (10) year anniversary (May of 2027) to the
10-year US Treasury plus (+) 2.39%. There will
be a floor of 4.18% and a cap of 6.57% at the
adjustment period.
Director Klatzco stated that the Manager and the
Board did a great job in securing the loan.
Jeff Ellis from La Salle State Bank discussed the
pay back time. Auditor Paul Danekas from Wilcoxson & Associates, stated we are doing a good job of
tracking the dues. To date, $51,000 has been collected. Starting next year, the members will pay
$70/per lot for the pool fund and we should collect
approximately $111,000-$112,000 in dues.
Director Kot moved to pass Resolution 2016-1. Director Klatzco seconded the motion. Roll call vote:
Directors Kot, Singh, Klatzco and Martel voted yes.
Motion passed.
B. Proposed Rule Change
1. Watercra» Regulations
Director Martel stated that in order to pass rules,
we need five Directors in a”endance. Director
Bommersbach will vote by teleconference.
Rule E. Watercra» Regulations, 2. Registration
of Watercra» (e) has been modified as follows: 2.
Registration of Watercra» (e): Guest watercra»s
are prohibited on both lakes at all times unless
Board wri”en approval is provided to the requesting member for a specific purpose, function or
event.
Director Klatzco moved to approve Rule Change
E.2.(e) as proposed. Director Singh seconded the
motion. Roll call vote: Directors Singh, Bommersbach, Klatzco, Kot and Martel voted yes. Motion
passed.
2. Campground Rule
The Board received proposed rule I. Camping and
Picnicking Regulations, 7. (a)-(h) Same Site Camping Rules and Regulations. The Board sent this
back to the Campground Commi”ee for clarification.
C. Leers to the Editor - Tabled from April Meeting
Jackie Zohfeld, Lot 1181, Chairperson of Sunbeam
Commi‹ee gave background procedures for Le”ers
to the Editor. A policy and procedure manual was
devised by the commi”ee in 2007, it was presented to the Board and they approved it. Felt that we
should leave the policy the way it is now. The commi”ee will decide whether or not a le”er is suitable
for print. If the le”er needs editing, the Chairperson will contact the author. A le”er cannot contain
anything that is inflammatory, not factual and
cannot use a person's name.
Director Martel stated le”ers need to be treated
with uniformity and fairly.
Director Bommersbach feels the Sunbeam is not the
right outlet for complaints; should go to the specific commi”ee or should go to the Board meeting
and address their complaint there, and redirect
complaints away from the paper.
Director Singh stated he is all for someone if they
have a grievance concern, but the paper should not
be an open channel to complain on that same issue
continuously and feels there is constant negativity,
and no offers of solutions.
Director Martel stated that other papers state that
constructive criticism is accepted but solutions are
welcome.
Director Kot feels that everyone has freedom of
speech, print even if there is negativity.
Director Klatzo added that a person has a right to
write a le”er, should not be a personal soap box,
you can come to a Board meeting and you will have
a chance to speak, need to hear both sides.
Director Singh asked Jackie what can the Board do
to help you and your commi”ee?
Ms. Zohfeld responded that the commi”ee has a
sufficient policy in place to handle the Le”ers to
the Editor and the commi”ee is doing a good job.
Everyone in the Association has the ability to write
a le”er.
Director Singh added that we do not want to add
additional pages to the paper. Purpose is to communicate to the Association as a whole from the
Board.
Director Martel replied that we appreciate everything you and the commi”ee does, we are supportive of it and we want you to keep doing what you
are doing. Le”ers need to be applied uniformly and
fairly and apply to everyone.
Ms. Zohfeld stated that she will take to her committee the Board's recommendation that we limit the
le”ers according to the size of the paper (not to add
additional pages to accommodate several le”ers).
D. Convert Two Daily Campground Sites to Temporary Summer Seasonal
Director Singh explained that last year we converted a temporary site to a full-time one; it worked
out and we got revenue. The Campground Committee has asked that we convert two more sites for
this year. We will still manage daily sites. General Manager suggested to use the two sites by the
primitive area that are not used.
Director Singh moved to convert the two daily
campground sites to temporary summer seasonal
sites. Director Kot seconded the motion. Motion
passed by unanimous consent without objection.
E. Kid's Fishing Derby & Garage Sale - Open Gate
Director Martel read a le”er from the Recreation
Commi”ee asking the Board to consider allowing
for an Open Gate on June 4, 2016 from 8:00 a.m.Noon for the Kid's Fishing Derby and on July 16,
2016 from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for the Garage Sale.
Director Klatzco moved to approve the two Open
Gate requests; June 4, 2016 from 8:00 a.m.-Noon
for the Kid's Fishing Derby and on July 16, 2016
from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for the Garage Sale.
Director Singh seconded the motion. Motion approved by unanimous consent without objection.
F. Boathouse Permits
There was discussion between ECC & the Board &
the a”orney about boathouses; how far they are in
the lake, how high they are allowed to go up, etc.
ECC needs some guidance before a rule change is
passed. General Manager stated that the a”orney
has given his opinion that ECC is allowed to determine what they will pass.
Director Martel moved to restrict all boathouses to
a single story with a roof or a deck on top. Director Singh seconded the motion. Motion passed by
unanimous consent without objection.
VI. Commiee Updates, Presentations, Resignations & Appointments
A. Updates and Presentations from Commi”ees
Finance Commiee - They met this morning. Delinquent dues for 2016 are at 8.7% for April 30th,
slightly below last year.
JUNE SUNBEAM
2016
Lakes & Dams Commiee - Director Martel stated
that the majority of discussion was on budget.
CP&A Commiee - Will meet today a»er the Board
meeting.
VIII. Unfinished Business
A. Reserve Study
Still pending.
B. Front Gate
General Manager reported that Brian Eaggleston
had a suggestion and drew a diagram that when
a large truck comes in, the guard could open both
gates if the posts were placed on the outside of each
gate (the gates would open from the center). Will
have the architect look at it.
Guest Passes - The issue is guests with a pass must
stop at the Front Gate in the le» lane. If someone
leaves with a visitor pass and comes back, they
NEED to stop but don't have to get a new pass. All
guest vehicles must stop.
C. 319 Grant - Update
Contractor coming out to do dry work.
D. Rules & Regulations "Red Book" Revision
Set Special Meeting/Workshop - Working on.
E. ADT System
Next year's budget.
IX. General Manager's Report
A. New Pool Progress Report
General Manager gave report - on the first week
they scraped the dirt, dug footings, poured footings, block was delivered and poured cement at
Kiddie Pool foundation. They expect to have the
outside of the Pool House up by May 25 and should
be completed by June meeting.
Director Martel asked that the Board receive a
summary of the project and monthly updates of
any change orders.
General Manager also reported on lights and trees
for the pool project.
B. Fiber Optics Project - Frontier - Update
General Manager talked to the subcontractors that
will be installing fiber optics and placement of
above ground boxes that will be on common property across from the Guardhouse. The fiber optic
project will provide additional ports so people can
pick up fiber optic at additional higher speeds and
it is a grant program from the Federal government
for rural areas that are not well serviced by internet. They will start as soon as they get their plans
approved.
C. Budget Progress Report
The Board reviewed the budget progress report for
2017.
X. Communications
A. From the Floor
Sue McGrath, Lot 1273 - We've measured the boards
for the tennis courts. Have we go”en the material
yet and when will Maintenance put up?
General Manager answered it is on their schedule.
Larry Gobert, Lot 450 - There are four dead trees
by the tennis courts, when will they be taken down?
General Manager replied that she will look into it.
Mr. Gobert asked if someone is going to maintain
the fence around the pool, it's laying on the ground
from the wind?
Director Martel responded it depends on the activity going on, it is a construction site.
Sue Evans, Lot 459 - She has family members and
guests coming in and does not want to give the
Gate her Social Security number and is not going
to give her driver's license. Would like her Social
Security number to come off the computer at the
Guardhouse.
Director Martel answered that the Ad Hoc Security
Commi”ee gave recommendations to the Board
until the new system is up and running and that
people would continue to give the last 4-digits of
their Social Security number. The Gate can't tell
who is on the phone. You can go to the Office or
Gate and they can see it is you and then give them
your guest's information. We cannot make exceptions
3
Reports & Committee Meeting Minutes
for individuals.
Ms. Evans responded that she has a disability and
that needs to be taken into consideration. Also, not
in favor of any gate.
Margaret Jackson, Lot 372 - A»er hearing Jackie's
presentation, they are doing a phenomenal job and
so is the commi”ee. Feels Le”ers to the Editor are
necessary for communication concerns. Committee is doing an excellent job.
Director Martel replied we agree and we did not
change anything today.
Marcie Myers, Lot 249 - Has a grievance - There
are two proxy cards that can be sent out; there's
a general proxy card that gives the proxy holder
the right to vote as they see fit. There's the limited
proxy card is a ballot that includes on the proxy
card the business that is to be voted on and a place
where the member can tell the proxy the way to
vote on the business. The Board sent out a general
proxy card only to control the votes. The Board has
taken away the membership's power to introduce
new By-Laws by the way they designed this proxy
card, if it is passed.
Director Martel answered that the proxy card is not
a vote card, it is the same card that is always sent
out.
Ms. Myers replied that we always have a ballot with
it.
Director Martel answered that all we are trying to
do, is establish a quorum with this proxy.
Jean Menzel, Lot 608 - Regarding fiber optic, are
they not taking it north of the back gate, west of
the lake?
General Manager answered no, because what they
want to do is take the load off the back gate so they
can serve everyone up here. What it allows us to
do, is double the capacity.
Director Singh stated there is a limitation of DSL in
terms of distance that's why people that are farther
away from the back gate may not be able to get internet today at all. What they are doing is running
the high speed back into the facility and will have
another one of those boxes so you will have access
because now you are closer to that box. There is
only one box that serves the whole Association and
you have to be about 900' technically of that to get
high speed internet.
Director Martel added the main line that feeds the
distribution is being upgraded and has go”en a lot
bigger.
Rolland Clevenger, Lot 420 - Your road program is
set up for several years, you may have some places
that will need to be fixed right away.
Director Martel replied that the Maintenance Supervisor went out and checked all roads and considered that.
General Manager said that nothing is set in stone,
it's a guidance.
Mr. Clevenger said we have shut down small jobs
for not pu”ing up a mud fence. There is a 20' mud
pile by the swimming pool.
Director Martel directed the General Manager to
have a silt fence put up there.
Corki Williams, Lot 290 - Wondered if the pickle
ball stuff is still there.
General Manager replied she will check.
Joe Donnelly, Lot 1714 - He concurs with Jackie
and her commi”ee, they are doing a great job. Kudos to her for her presentation. The easiest way to
deal with Le”ers to the Editor is either no le”ers at
all or publish them all with a disclaimer like they
do with other papers that these le”ers reflect the
opinion of the le”er writer only not the Association, not the Board, whatever.
Director Martel responded he is bothered when
someone says that something was said in a meeting and it was not.
Mr. Donnelly added to put in an Editors Note, i.e.,
the Editor does not feel that this was said at the
meeting and the minutes can be checked.
General Manager feels that we shouldn't be changing Le”ers to the Editor, either publish it because
it is not inflammatory or libelous.
Peg Gobert, Lot 450 - How much longer before
Lake Wildwood Drive up the hill by the inlet will be
a smoother road?
4
General Manager answered we grade it periodically, it was bid out to be done with the rest of the
roads and the roads need to retain heat at night.
Mrs. Gobert asked you were talking about ge”ing
new poles for the docks, are these going to be poles
that will make the docks permanent so they do not
have to take them in and out?
Director Martel replied we are replacing the poles
that are missing.
XI. Board Member Items
Reminder - There is a Special Board Meeting Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lodge for
the By-Law votes.
Director Singh moved to adjourn from Regular
Session to Executive Session at 12:45 p.m. Director
Kot seconded the motion. Voice vote - all ayes.
XII. Executive Session
A. Decide Action on Two Delinquent Accounts
Director Kot moved to adjourn from Executive Session and return to Regular Session at 1:18 p.m. Director Klatzco seconded the motion. Voice vote - all
ayes.
InRegular Session, Director Klatzco moved to direct Lot 193 to remove structures that are more
than 42 inches above first floor roof of boathouse
by June 15, 2016. Not doing so will result in revocation of approval for any structure extending
into the Lake. Director Kot seconded the motion.
Motion approved by unanimous consent without
objection.
XIII. Adjournment
Director Kot moved to adjourn from Regular Session at 1:20 p.m. Director Klatzco seconded the
motion. Voice vote - all ayes.
The budget was discussed and finalized, we have
tweaked a few of the items and decided to watch
how this year's fish fry a”endance is in order to decide whether or not to keep it in 2017. Our problem
with this event and most of our events is lack of
volunteers. Adrienne will be pu”ing something in
the Sunbeam requesting volunteers for our various
events. We will also raise the price of the hog roast
to $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.
Costs unfortunately keep rising.
The next meeting will be June 7, 2016, which will
now be on Tuesdays so all can a”end.
Motion was made by Kay Blonski to adjourn and
was seconded by Be”y Clevenger. Meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
Respectfully submi”ed,
Adrienne Houk, Chairperson
FINANCE & ADMIN.

A motion was made by Be”y Clevenger and seconded by Millie Kot to accept the minutes from
April 5, 2016.
Movie night went well and we had around 15 people. Slightly low a”endance, but with the confusion
as to whether or not we would be ready may have
been part of the reasoning. All-in-all, those in attendance were very pleased and enjoyed the movie
'Inside Out.' Our next movie will be Memorial Day
weekend (May 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the Lodge) and
we will be showing 'Big Hero 6'.
June 4th will be the Kid's Fishing Derby from 8:00
a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Be”y and Sue will once again
assist with this event. We will contact the Midland Bass Club to see if they will be there in force
to help again. We also have Tom Phillips assisting
with this event, with Crankers Bass Club providing
prizes. We will provide hot dogs, chips, drinks, and
cookies for this event and ribbons.
June 24th will be the Kid's Pool Party from 7:00
p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Be”y and Sue will once again
assist me with this event. We are looking into some
water games for the kids to enjoy during the party with prizes awarded. We will provide hot dogs,
chips, drinks, and snacks.
Update for the train, the wheels have arrived. We
will be working on ge”ing more work done, so this
is ready early in the season. We just have a few
tweaks on the sound, but we are all set.

lifeguard shortage
There is a shortage of lifeguards throughout the
entire area this year. In order to try and a”ract
certified lifeguards, Lake Wildwood along with
cities, park districts and other Home Owner Associations have increased the starting salaries by at
least $1 per hour. Unfortunately, this still has not
a”racted the needed number of lifeguards to staff
our beaches and pool. The priority will be to staff
the pool from noon until closing with 2 lifeguards
per shi». The beaches may be without a lifeguard
the majority of the time.
Please encourage anyone you know to become certified and apply at Lake Wildwood. Their certification costs will be reimbursed a»er logging enough
hours of work. Also, remind them that next year
they will be able to work at the new pool facility.
watch out for jumping worms
To help control and hopefully stop the spread of
the Jumping Worm, keep an eye out for it in the
soil. Here are other ways that it can be spread.
They are very popular as fish bait and are sold under a number of names including "Crazy Worms",
"Alabama Jumpers", and "Snake Worms". If you
are a fisherman, do not buy bait under these names
and inspect all live bait to ensure you are not buying these worms.
For the gardeners, be sure to wash off any equipment that you are transporting. Inspect the soil of
the plants that you purchase each year to ensure
you do not have any Jumping Worms hiding in the
soil. When possible, purchase and plant bare root
plants to keep the transportation of this worm to a
minimum.
If you find bait being sold under any of the alternate names or suspect that your bait is a Jumping
Worm, do not use the bait. Please report the sale
to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. If
you suspect that you have a Jumping Worm in your
yard, garden, landscaping, or in a plant that you
purchased, report it to Illinois Department of Agriculture (Sco” Schirmer, sco”.schirmer@illinois.
gov or 815-787-5476), Illinois Department of Natural Resources (Jody Shimp jody.shimp@illinois.
gov or 618-435-8138), the U of I Plant Clinic (217333-0519 or [email protected]), or your local University of Illinois Extension office (you can
find your local office here).
If you have any questions, please contact Jason
Haupt ([email protected]) or your local Extension office.

Letters to the Editor
Submission Information
Le”ers to the Editor must be submi”ed to:
Chairperson of the Sunbeam Commi”ee
1000 Lake Wildwood Drive // Varna, Illinois 61375-9323
The le”ers must not exceed 375 words.
All le”ers submi”ed must include the member's name, signature, lot number,
and date. Le”ers failing to include this information will not be printed.
Submission deadline is the 15th of the month.
LeŒers and editorial commentary represent the opinions of the writers only.
SubmiŒed by Sue McGrath of lot 1273.
At the May 14th Board meeting, there were 27 members besides the GM, Board
members and Secretary.
A rule on guest watercra» was changed in order to hold the Stand Up for St.
Jude could be held with an open gate and non-members could bring in their
watercra». With this change it means guests watercra» can be on our lake.
With no charge non-members can bring their watercra» without proper insurance and without a sticker fee. It eliminated the rule saying only members watercra» can be on the Association's lake. When this item was first mentioned, I
wrote a le”er to the editor about what Red Book rules were being broken. That
le”er never saw the light of day and was not printed.
Do I have a problem with this change, you bet I do. Do we need an open gate
so non-members have use of our lake to make money for St. Jude. They won't
need a guest pass just say one is here for the Paddleboard event. Do they need
insurance proof, have to have the board checked for harmful items that could
bring something into our lake?
Am I against raising money for St. Jude? No way! I am against using our members lake and time on the lake during this summer for outsiders to come with
equipment that we do not know where it has been. Why are we having an open
gate when we are spending money to make this place more secure?
If you feel, I am wrong on this that is OK with me. I have been here 40 years and
fought very hard to make this a place where people wanted to live. I am seeing
too many places that are for sale, fees going up, and li”le if any members coming to Board meetings to hear first hand what is happening. Where do you stand
on this item?
Editor's Note: The Board ruled to make a one time exception for this St. Jude
event. The event coordinators have another meeting with the Board scheduled
prior to the event.

Dear Lake Wildwood homeowners,
My fiancée and I are getting married here in the
Arrowhead Lodge at Lake Wildwood on September 3, 2016. We have three couples coming from Germany and perhaps another three
from quite a distance here in the U.S.
We need somewhere for them to stay and are
wondering if anyone here at the lake would
open their home and help us provide accommodations for a few days.
If you could help, we would be most grateful.

“Stand Up for St. Jude”
PADDLEBOARD
EVENT
"Stand Up for St. Jude" is the brainchild of the Executive Director of the
event, Paul Halvorsen, who said, “we wanted to give back to the world and
say thank you for our blessings, and Lake Wildwood is a blessing for me.
This event is going to be a lot of fun but, more importantly, to keep in mind
all of the kids we can help who are suffering from cancer.” Halvorsen chose
St. Jude as the benefactor because of their strong reputation for helping
kids. “Every weekend, you see young healthy kids having fun on the lake.
Every kid should be able to play like that, so I feel very strongly about giving
back to an organization like St. Jude.”
The “Stand Up for St. Jude” paddleboard event is a one-day event that will
take place on July 16th starting with a Paddleboard Sprint at 2:00pm and
a four-person relay at 3:00pm. Both of these events will be held in the nowake section of Lake Wildwood. There will be live music, food, and family
entertainment all day at the south beach and clubhouse. The day will end
with a sunset challenge at 6:00pm around the no-wake buoys of the main
lake. Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female in each age bracket
for the Sprint and Sunset challenge. An award will be presented to the first
place relay team to cross the finish line.
The St. Jude organization was founded by entertainer Danny Thomas in
1962 and has grown to be one of the world’s leading non-for-profit research
organizations. “No child should die in the dawn of their life,” said Danny
Thomas. In fact, families whose children receive care at St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital do so without ge”ing a bill. The hospital, its physicians,
and its research are all funded by donations from people like those we have
here at Lake Wildwood.
In order to maximize the possible dollars we give back to St. Jude, this event
will be open to the public. “Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) has become quite
popular in the last 10 years”, said race director Terri Jakubowski. “It’s a
healthy, fun way for all ages to enjoy the lake. We expect to have several
hundred people here from serious paddlers to the recreational paddler like
my husband. There are several details still to be worked out and plenty of
volunteer positions to be filled for those not interested in competing.”
MARATHON COURSE
SPRINT COURSE
RELAY COURSE
The Marathon course will begin in front
of the Lifeguard stand at the South/East
Beach. That starting line and the finish line
are the same. The race will start at 6pm and
racers will travel north up the east side of
the lake and will stay to the right of the no
wake buoys. The course will circle around
the lake and then back down the west side
of the lake to the finish line. The course is
3 miles long.
The Sprint course will begin in front of the
Lifeguard stand at the South/East Beach.
This is a triangular course for speed. The
race will start at 2pm and racers will paddle straight west across the lake and le» or
south down the west side of the Lake staying to the right of the race buoys. First one
across the finish line in their age bracket
wins.
The Relay course will be similar to the
Sprint course except each team will have 4
members and each member must complete
one full lap transferring paddlers at the
finish line. Each team must use the same
paddle board and paddle.
