JUAN OROZCO - MUSIK MEYER BENELUX
EN JUAN OROZCO - The Grand Spanish Luthier Tradition The son of a world-renowned luthier, Juan Orozco grew up in Madrid. Already as a child, he started helping his father and thus learned what his dad had learned from his own father: the art of building fine concert guitars. The Orozco family estate has always been a gathering point of choice for world-famous guitarists and luthiers. isworkshop 1964,JuanOrozcoinh sÍndios withErundioftheLo Tabajarasduo. At the age of 23, Juan Orozco started his own workshop, and before long, began selling his guitars to US-based customers. His first visit to New York in the early 1960s yielded enough commissions to keep him and his team busy for months on end. With the revenue from a custom order by Los Índios Tabajaras, one of the finest guitar duos of the day, Juan Orozco set up shop in New York in 1964, with a new workshop, a showroom and a concert hall. In 1968, he started manufacturing his own strings under the famous ARANJUEZ brand. In no time, Orozco’s premises again became a cherished meeting point for the finest musicians of the classical guitar scene. It therefore seemed only logical that Juan Orozco should also take to organizing concerts so as to present the world’s greatest guitar maestros to the New York audience. In the 1980s, he set a bold new quality standard for master guitars. The “Model 15” was his top instrument. With his experience spanning several generations, Juan Orozco is proud to present the new Artesano concert guitar range. rlosMontoya 1968withflamencolegendCa PepeRomero,JuanOrozco andManuelBarruecoin Orozco’sconcerthall. Juan Orozco’s design elements, like the headstock, the shape of the bridge, the sound hole inlays, etc., have been painstakingly recreated for the new ARTESANO guitars. ARTESANO MaestroS,2010 A guitar that will set your blood racing with its ultimate Mediterranean response and lust for life! Whether in an acoustic setting or for professional live applications: the all-round Sonata models have what it takes to cater to your personal preferences! Small hands need small guitars – both students and teachers will be delighted! All models of the Sonata series, the flamenco guitar as well as the solid Maestro, come with the original Spanish heel construction. WithAndrésSeg ovia,1979 1979 WithSalvadorDalí, 1 The flagship of the ARTESANO concert guitar range, the Maestro S is an instrument of exceptional beauty and sonority for the demanding guitarist. It is ARTESANO’s tribute to Juan Orozco’s world-famous Model 15. Not just the headstock, soundhole inlay and bridge shape are perfect recreations of the famous original – other features, like the solid-wood construction with the original Spanish heel, the fingerboard made of real ebony and the colored edge inlays on the top, at the bottom and on the sides, have also been implemented. This accomplished guitar has everything to please even the most demanding conservatory student. Even for those with no professional ambitions the ARTESANO Maestro S, with its expertly balanced tone, its powerful bass and its sweet treble range, may prove the ultimate instrument for countless hours of guitar enjoyment. 2 · Top: solid spruce · Back & sides: solid rosewood · Scale length: 65cm · Nut width: 52mm · Fingerboard: ebony · Bridge: rosewood with wood mosaic inlays · Bindings: rosewood · Nut and bridge saddle: bone · Finish: high gloss · Original Spanish neck heel Maestro S accessories: hard-shell case Maestro S 3 The ARTESANO Flamenco S will set your life ablaze with a tone that will immediately remind you of Spain. Castanets, swirling skirts, rhythmic stamping of the heels, hand clapping… this is the music one invariably associates with the Iberian peninsula where flamenco is a way of sensual, hot-blooded Mediterranean life. Thanks to the yellow cedar used for the back and sides whose sonic features are surprisingly similar to the traditional cypress wood, this ARTESANO is as explosive and titillating as flamenco itself. Other important features of the Flamenco S are its low bridge and the resulting low action for lightning-fast phrases, the transparent golpeador that protects the top and, of course, its fiery orange body. The solid top creates the sweet, singing tone so typical of spruce – and these features promise to become even more intense over the years. Sonata MC With its mahogany body, the Sonata MC is a little lighter than its rosewood sibling. The solid cedar top strikes you with its fast response and creates a fullbodied sound from day one. More often than not, a guitar is an instrument you play all your life. Those looking for a toneful and reliable all-round concert guitar will quite naturally turn to the Sonata series, for those models are perfect for unbridled musical enjoyment in your spare time. Guitar teachers approve, and studio guitarists use it for all things nylon. Models equipped with an eSonido pickup system, on the other hand, are a live guitarist’s classical dream come true. The Sonata models are available in two timetested versions: with the classic solid spruce top/rosewood body combination and the student favorite with a solid cedar top and a mahogany body. Even when you are not using the pickup, you will be delighted by their high-quality concert sound, which obviously remains intact when you use the pickup in a band or live setup. The ARTESANO Sonata models with an eSonido pickup system are the obvious choice for guitarists who need to play the occasional tune on a nylon-string guitar: the amplified sound is the perfect translation of a fine acoustic concert instrument. 8 The eSonido pickup system designed for ARTESANO guitars comes with a volume control and a 4-band equalizer for perfect sound tailoring to the acoustic requirements. Clear visibility and intuitive operation were one of the prerequisites for this system, as was the accessibility of the battery compartment next to the output socket. Another important feature for live applications is the onboard chromatic tuner. The notch filter, finally, can be used to quickly attenuate the frequency that creates feedback on a noisy stage. For years, the European Guitar Teachers Association (EGTA), has been demanding that children learn to play the guitar on instruments suitable for their body size. This is of prime importance to ensure that children enjoy playing and keep developing their musical skills to avoid frustration with their instrument and ultimately their musical endeavor. The ARTESANO C-½ and C-¾ models of the Estudiante series belong to the surprisingly small group of guitars with appropriate scale lengths that meet 100% of the EGTA’s recommendations. These recommendations not only focus on scale length and nut width but also on the string distance at the bridge, the so-called “string spacing”. In combination with the mahogany back and sides, the solid cedar tops ensure unbridled musical enjoyment from day one. · Top: solid cedar · Back & sides: mahogany · Scale length: 65cm · Nut width: 50mm · Fingerboard: rosewood · Bridge: rosewood · Finish: high gloss Size table for the Estudiante series Model Estudiante C - 1/ 2 Size 1/2 Scale Nut length width 53cm 47mm Estudiante C - 3/4 3/4 58cm 48mm Estudiante C - 4/4 4/4 65cm 50mm Estudiante C-4/4 11 · Top: spruce · Back & sides: mahogany · Scale length: 65cm · Nut width: 50mm · Fingerboard: rosewood · Bridge: rosewood · Finish: high gloss Estudiante A Even for its Estudiante series for beginners, ARTESANO has done its utmost with respect to workmanship. After all, beginners need a guitar whose tuning stability and tone encourage them to keep practicing and enjoy playing music. The sturdy Estudiante A model of the ARTESANO range provides just the right feature mix for novice and returning guitar players. The ARTESANO Estudiante A’s exceptional quality belies its price tag.
