Dolby Digital Surround Sound
This Norcent home theater system uses Dolby Digital, the leading surround-sound
technology on the market today. It is a method of compacting digital audio so that
high-quality multichannel soundtracks can be easily carried via digital discs and
broadcasts.
DTS Digital Surround Sound
DTS is a 5.1-channel surround sound format that some DVD movies feature as
an optional soundtrack. Its primary advantage is that it offers higher data rates than
similar formats.
5.1 Channel Audio
5.1-channel surround sound provides five full-range audio channels: two main, one
center, and two surround speakers. The sixth (.1) carries the deep bass effects that
bring movies to life inside the home. In this Norcent system, the low-bass sounds are
channeled to the included subwoofer.
