MELBOURNE
(Southern Cross Station)
All trains to and from Bendigo will be replaced with
coach services from Saturday 19 April to Friday 25 April
(Anzac Day) inclusive.
Coaches will run between Bendigo and Southern Cross Station.
V/Line will be running a combination of express, limited express
and stopping all stations coach replacement services.
It will do this by untangling metropolitan
and regional tracks as they travel through
Melbourne’s west into the heart of the city.
Dedicated regional tracks are being built from West
Werribee Junction to Deer Park, then along the existing rail
corridor from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station. When
complete, passengers on the Geelong, Bendigo and
Ballarat lines will have a streamlined journey through the
metropolitan system.
Buses replace trains between Saturday 19 April and
Sunday 27 April 2014 while major Regional Rail Link
construction works take place.
Works include:
• Rail profiling on the North Melbourne flyover
• Works in the Arrivals Yard near North Melbourne Station
• Signalling and overhead works and removal of
redundant track equipment between South Kensington
Station and Footscray
• Works to complete the Nicholson Street bridge, Footscray
• Works to complete platforms 3 and 4 at Sunshine and
Footscray stations
• Track works near Sunshine Station
• Continued works on the Bendigo line grade separation
on Anderson Road, Sunshine
• Construction and testing of new signalling and
communications equipment between Footscray and
Sunshine stations
Regional Rail Link will create capacity for an extra 23
metropolitan and 10 regional services during each morning
and evening peak period – this means capacity for an
additional 54,000 passenger trips each day.
• Construction and commissioning of new signalling
infrastructure for the Sunbury line between Sunshine
and Albion
Please allow an extra 60 minutes for your journey.

Trains between Bendigo and Echuca and between Bendigo
and Swan Hill will run as scheduled. Customers from Echuca/
Swan Hill will need to change at Bendigo for coach replacement
services to Southern Cross Station.
All trains on the Geelong line, including South Geelong and
Marshall, will be replaced with coach services the weekend
26–27 April.
Trains will continue to operate between
Geelong and Warrnambool.

• Removal of redundant signalling and communications
equipment between Footscray and Deer Park
• Installing and commissioning equipment including CCTV
cameras, passenger information displays and hearing
loops at Sunshine and Footscray stations
• Activating two new pedestrian crossings at Sydney Street
and Adelaide Street, Albion
• Tamping and track work near Robinsons Road, Deer Park.
Carrying out all these activities during this period reduces
future disruption for rail passengers and the community as
we deliver the Regional Rail Link project.
