SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE
As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close and spring testing begins, I would like to once
more express my appreciation to our teachers and staff for their service to students. This
includes our nurses who were also treated this week in recognition of National Nurses Week.
Teacher Appreciation Week was preceded by employee appreciation dinners for all employees
thanks to generous vendor and community sponsors (click here to see a list of these special
donors). This week numerous gestures of appreciation were made, such as tenderloin and
country ham lunches for school employees provided by the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Sterling, Papa
John’s discounts, a variety of individual treats and prizes within the schools (for example, MCIS
teachers were treated by Long John Silvers, Ale8, Nestle, and Hall’s Communication), special
signage at MCIS, Chickabiddy and Yogurt Mountain coupons, parent/PTO-provided meals, Spa
day hand and cranial massages, and more.
There is not a doubt in my
mind that we can be a top ten
school system, including the
highest quality educators and
employees, the best and
brightest students, and the
most supportive community.
Thank you and
congratulations.
Dr. Joshua Powell, Superintendent
