Your “la pine rocks!” Chamber Connection “We are the hub of the business community, promoting commerce and tourism making La Pine a vibrant community to work, live and play!” frontier advertiser Serving Central Oregon Since 1974 Celebrating 35 Years In Business This Year! What a fascinating history this long-time La Pine publication has! It serves all of Central Oregon. Carolyn F. and the late Paul K. Samuelson started the Frontier Advertiser in their La Pine home back in 1974. They moved to the present location on Morson St. in the late ‘70’s. Printing has evolved from using an electric Corona typewriter and rub-off letters to the current use of computers and digital technology. As well as the weekly full color publication, they specialize in producing business cards, logo/ graphic design, business forms, resumes, and color and black and white copies and more. Truly a family-oriented business, Carolyn says, “Each of our children Carolyn and Paul Samuelson have helped in the business at one time or another.” The close-knit team currently includes: Kerri Emert has been with the paper since 1999. (She also helped with the initial “70’s Start-Up”). She also worked at the Bend Bulletin and Prineville’s Central Oregonian. She is a self-proclaimed “Go-Fer”. Kerri enjoys family, horses and photography. Mari VanDyke is multi-talented and has been employed since 1981. She has a degree in fine art and does graphic design. She worked as a technical illustrator, taught art classes and was Artist In Residence at the coast and in Central Oregon. In her spare time she does freelance fine art and enjoys her horse. Jenna Tuthill does ad design and bookkeeping. Krystal Brown does classifieds, public service announcements and customer service. Amanda Emert recently joined the team and does classifieds, public service announcements and customer service. Melvin and JD Emert also help as needed, whether on the phone or chasing copy for other team members. Their background has been highly entrepreneurial, owning both manufacturing and retail businesses in San Jose, CA. They decided to seek out a higher quality of life and decided on the La Pine area. That was when JoAnn got her General Contractor’s License and formed a water treatment business. It quickly thrived and, recognizing the need, she started a 2nd business... well pump installations. JoAnn made the decision to go into real estate, with a commitment of providing the very best service possible. She invested in systems, tools and education that would make transactions less stressful and as smooth as possible for buyers and sellers. Her hard work and extra effort have been rewarded by an impeccable reputation as a Principal Broker. She works closely with each of her agents, sharing her knowledge and expertise freely. There are six Real Estate Brokers associated with “The Company”, including herself. The team includes Fred Jaeger, Ruth Harpole, Cori Thompson, Ed Benjamin and Gary Tingey. JoAnn says that one of the reasons that they are doing well in this market is that they have aligned themselves with a group of lenders that are willing to work hard and help make transactions as “stress-free” as possible. JoAnn recommends the La Pine Chamber highly. She says, “If you belong to the Chamber, people respect you. The Chamber has an awesome website that is helpful to the Chamber Members and the Community at large. The Chamber relocation package is full of good information about La Pine and the local business community, as well as identifying recreational opportunities.” What makes you different? She says “It is my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I have a peace which makes it easier being a successful Oregon businesswoman for the past two decades. “ A typical response from her clients are like this one… “We worked with JoAnn Gould who made this very big decision and all the little details very easy… made sure everything went the way it was supposed to. We are very satisfied, happy, home owners”. JoAnn extends the invitation to stop by the office to chat and have a cup of coffee.
