Pininfarina's sleek F355 for Ferrari won instant praise when it was revealed at the 1994 Geneva motor show - and
its popularity has never waned. The Ferrari F355 is often regarded as the transition point into the modern era of
Ferrari road cars, employing Formula One-derived engine technology and advanced aerodynamics.
The Ferrari F355’s name is derived from its 3.5-litre V8 engine and five valves per cylinder - as denoted by the
‘Cinquevalvole’ inscription on the rocker covers.
The F355 Challenge was introduced in 1995, and briefly ran alongside its 348 forebear in the Ferrari Challenge race
series. The car features uprated springs, anti-roll bars and bushes, as well as a modified exhaust system,
competition clutch, Brembo brake discs from the F40, racing tyres and brake cooling ducts. There were also the
obligatory racing safety requirements, including a full roll cage, six-point belt harnesses, fire extinguisher, towing
points and circuit breakers.
It is believed that Ferrari built approximately 130 examples of the F355 Challenge, and this particular car is one
of only 26 right-hand-drive F355 Challenge cars known to exist. This car is also UK road registered; believed to be
one of only a handful that have been approved in this way.
The car was originally delivered to Australia and is confirmed by Ferrari factory records as a genuine F355
Challenge car. It was delivered with the conversion kit - denoted on the factory paperwork as 'Vettura Modificata' to the official importer, just like the UK-supplied examples.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original Ferrari F355 Challenge car in right-hand drive. It is equipped with
two Cobra Imola Pro racing seats (one is currently removed from the car), OMP six-point safety harnesses,
Alcantara-trimmed Momo steering wheel and a Lifeline fire extinguisher system. It will be sold on to the next
owner with two sets of correct 18-inch Speedline wheels.
