been told. Join the group for dinner at
a local restaurant. (B, D)
DAY 10: This morning enjoy touring
of the Lewis & Clark Discovery Center on the banks of the Missouri River
and learn about this historic expedition that helped define America.
Then depart Great Falls and travel
through Montana on the way to
North Dakota and the historic town
of Medora. The town of Medora was
founded in April 1883 by a 24-yearold French nobleman, the Marquis
de Mores. He named the town for his
bride, the form Medora von Hoffman,
daughter of a wealthy New York City
banker. This evening we’ll dine with
steaks. The Medora Pitchfork Fondue
consists of steaks being put on the
tines of pitchforks (nice, clean ones,
of course), and cooked in hot oil.. And
somehow those steaks are seasoned
perfectly so that they come out just
right. Delicious! The fun doesn’t stop
here - we’re off to the Medora Musical. Set in the outdoor splendor of the
rugged North Dakota Badlands, this
professionally produced, high energy,
western-style musical show is proudly
dedicated to the legacy of America’s
26th president, Theodore Roosevelt,
and the time he spent here in the Badlands of the Dakota Territory. Each
show pays tribute to American patriotism and the Old West. (B, D)
DAY 11: Today we visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park. As you drive
through western North Dakota, the
gently rolling hills open up dramatically into the varied and colorful layers
of the Badlands. Curiosity might lead
you to take a closer look at the rocks
making up the layers. This closer look
takes you back millions of years to an
ancient world of swamps and forests.
Continue east through North Dakota
and back into Minnesota and your
destination in Minneapolis. Enjoy included dinner tonight. (B, D)
DAY 12: This morning we’ll spend some
time exploring the Mall of America. As
one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world, Mall of America
features 520 stores, 50 restaurants
and attractions galore, including Nickelodeon Universe, the nation’s largest indoor theme park, and the new
American Girl Store. Plus, there’s no

DAY 1: We’re off to Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Savannah The Old South! Our first evening is in West Virginia.
DAY 2: We enjoy the day traveling getting to know our
family of friends. We arrive in Myrtle Beach late afternoon
and check into our oceanfront hotel. Buffet dinner is incuded at the hotel. (CB, D)
DAY 3: The Myrtle Beach area and the Grand Strand have
a storybook history. Indeed, dozens of books have been
written about long-lost Indian tribes, colorful pirates, and
roaming ghosts. But for the most part, these stories have
been shared orally - told and retold over hundreds of years,
generation after generation. Not surprisingly, the stories
change over time, as different storytellers add their own
embellishments. As a result, there are many different versions of the same tale. However, this hasn’t diminished
the importance of these tales to our local culture, or the
enjoyment of hearing, reading, or re-telling them. Only
75 years old the story of Myrtle Beach and its surrounding area has a fascinating story. We have lunch (on own)
at Barefoot Landing. Then enjoy a couple of hours on
the beach. Tonight we have a huge buffet at Benjamin’s
Calabash Seafood. A landmark of the Grand Strand, the
Original Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood serves fresh local
seafood daily. Our award-winning buffet is world-famous
for introducing the Myrtle Beach area to cooking seafood
Calabash style, which is lightly battered and deep fried.
The best music, comedy and dance of the 60s, 70s, and
80s, blended with rich multimedia screens, special effects, and elaborate costuming, all performed live by the
award-winning cast of The Carolina Opry. This fast-paced,
high-energy show will take you on a virtual tour back to
the decades that brought us the best in American popular
music. (B, D)
DAY 4: A local guide joins us this morning to discover
more about the area, when rice was king. The low country of the Carolinas clung to the crop that produced the
first generation of wealth, while creating at the same
time a social order that differed from the remainder of
the Southeast. While rice plantations shared much with
plantation society elsewhere, they were distinctive because of the conditions peculiar to rice cultivation itself;
the presence of malaria, slave communities of high density, the task system, and a wealthy planter class with
pretensions to aristocracy. We visit Brockgreen Gardens.
The 9,100 acre property themed gardens with American
figurative sculptures placed in them. The property includes several low country zoo and trails through several
ecosystems in nature reserves. We have lunch in the dining room. We tour the Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock. These are so widely sought after today, more than
a century after South Carolina riverboat captain Joshua
John “Cap’n Josh” Ward set out to fashion himself a cool,
comfortable, cotton-rope bed for those steamy low country nights out on the water. We tour the Atalaya Castle,
also known as Atalaya, which was the winter home of industrialist and philantropist Archer M. Huntington and his
wife, the sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington, located near
the Atlantic coast in Murrells Inlet, Georgetown County,
South Carolina. We have dinner (on own) at Broadway at
the Beach. (B, L)
12
DAY 5: We depart for Charleston - this city has survived
the Civil War, major fires, an earthquake and hurricanes and still exudes elegance, charm and grace. We visit the
Boone Hall Plantation founded in 1681 when Englishman
Major John Boone came to Charleston and established
a lucrative plantation and gracious home on the banks
of Wampacheone Creek. The family and descendants
of Major Boone were influential in the history of South
Caroline, the colonies and the nation. This afternoon we
tour Fort Sumter. A pivotal moment in this Nation’s history began at 4:30 a.m. on April 12, 1861. The first shots
were fired on Fort Sumter and thus began the American
Civil War. Fort Sumter surrendered 34 hours later and
Union forces tried for nearly four years to take it back.
Learn more about this amazing historic site as you cruise
Charleston’s harbor, and upon arrival at the fort, are
greeted by National Park Rangers. Walk in the steps of
those who shaped this nation. We check into our hotel in
Charleston for two nights. (B, D)
DAY 6: Enjoy a guided tour of Charleston highlighting
the cobblestoned streets, historic homes and restored
buildings, some with origins prior to the Revolution. This
afternoon we explore daily life in one of Charleston’s
most exquisite dwellings. Located in downtown Charleston near High Battery, the Nathaniel Russel House Museum, 51 Meeting Street, is widely recognized as one of
America’s most important neoclassical dwellings. Historic Charleston Foundation purchased the National Historic
Landmark in 1955, and the house served as the Foundation’s headquarters for 37 years. Today, the interiors are
restored to their original 1808 grandeur and surrounded
by formal gardens. We visit the Aiken-Rhett House Museum, unique in many ways. For example, it remained in
the hands of family descendants for 142 years until it was
sold to the Charleston Museum and opened as a museum house in 1975. Overnight in Charleston. (B, D)
DAY 7: Today we travel to Savannah, the Hostess City
of the South. Welcome to one of the most historic and
charming cities in the Southeast United States. Drenched
in rich history from the Civil War, beautiful trees covered
with Spanish moss, and stately mansions from the 1800s.
Savannah is one of the top tourist destinations in Georgia. Lunch (on own) on Riverwalk. A stroll down Savannah’s Riverwalk is not only pleasing, it’s truly serene.
Walk along the Savannah River, stop in for a bite at any
of 21 restaurants or simply enjoy the scenery as you head
towards the adjoining River Street, just a short distance
away. On River Street, in the heart of historic Savannah,
you’ll find everything from sweets to teddy bears. This
afternoon we have a tour of the Low Country with guide.
Tybee Island, also known as Savannah Beach, is an easily
accessible barrier island located just 18 miles away from
the Hostess City of the South, historic Savannah, Georgia. Savannah’s Beach is an amazing tourist destination
that has something to offer every vacationer. Rich in
both history and natural beauty, Tybee Island is also famous for its diverse cuisine, excellent accommodations
Brenner Tours 2015
and a variety of exciting recreational activities. Even Paula
Deen, who is internationally recognized for her very own
vacation house on Tybee Island. Included in this tour is
a stop at Old Fort Jackson. Named after James Jackson,
on-time governor of Georgia, Old Fort Jackson is beautifully preserved for along the Savannah River, and is Georgia’s oldest standing brick fortification. Included dinner
tonight. (B, D)
DAY 8: We have a tour of Savannah this morning then you
will have a full day of seeing Savannah the way you want!
You will have on and off tickets for the trolley. You can tour
homes, go shopping at the market, or just relax along the
waterfront. Just maybe you will run into Forrest Gump! Dinner tonight is at the Pirate’s House. Welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink and rousing good times. Situated a scant block from the Savannah
River. The Pirate’s House first opened as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a rendezvous for blood-thirsty pirates
and sailors from the Seven Seas. Here seamen drank their
grog and discoursed, sailor fashion, on their exotic high seas
adventures from Singapore to Bombay and from London to
Port Said. (B, D)
DAY 9: We travel homeward today, enjoying the scenery
and fun and fellowship with our friends. Overnight in West
Virginia. (B)
DAY 10: All too soon our vacation to the Old South comes
to an end. We travel home with plenty of fond memories.
(B)

Maine. Once home to the North America’s largest hotel and
spectacular summer estates for America’s most famous, rich

scenery of the Maine coast as you see how these lobster
men make their living hauling traps. This evening’s dinner
is on your own in the village. (B)

another charming waterfront village with tits shops, boutiques and quaint restaurants. In Rockland, we visit the
Maine Lighthouse Museum that houses a collection of
historic artifacts of the Coast Guard and local lighthouse
lore. Picturesque Boothbay Harbor is our destination this
evening. Knows for its brick sidewalks, art galleries, antiques, maritime gifts, and shops featuring handcrafted
goods, Boothbay Harbor is known as the sailing capital
of Maine. An enjoyable afternoon cruise on Linnekin Bay

vibrant city. Known for the beautifully-restored historic
district, its popular artist district and the cobblestone
streets of Old Port waterfront, Portland yesterday, today and tomorrow is truly a city with charm and grace.
Have lunch on your own and see the sights. One of the
most photographed lighthouses in the world lies in Cape
Elizabeth, the famous Portland Head Lighthouse. Take
pictures and learn about the history of this famous landmark. In Kennebunkport, our drive along the stunning
Ocean Drive offers us views of the Maine coastline and

Bidding Maine farewell, our route brings us to the Bay

see, feel and taste history. The Fishermen’s Memorial is
a memorial to all those who have gone down to the sea
by ships, based on the Bible verse found in Psalms 107,
verse 23. The village was inspiration for the film, “The Perfect Storm” and was filmed in Gloucester. The beauty of
the sea and the village has drawn fishermen, families and
artists here for over four hundred years. After seeing the
sights, another treat lies in store this evening. The famous
Gloucester House Restaurant is noted for “in the rough”
lobster bakes. Dine and enjoy this special treat. (B D)

before your eyes using the feshest ingredients available
and apples picked from the trees in our local orchards.
Help peel the apples with an antique apple peeler and
corer. Learn some of the secrets to rolling out a perfect
crust and making a mouth-watering dessert. Then we’ll
top it with fresh whipped cream. Let the fireplace feast
begin! Relax by the fieldstone fireplace as the crackling
fire roasts your prime rib “to a turn” by rotating it slowly
over a crackling fire of wild cherry logs. This jack is the
only know 1700s antique roasting jack that was used to
roast fowl and beef in New England that is still in use.
The flavor of the fireplace roasted prime rib is unsurpassed. Beware the brimming bowl of freshly whipped
cream - the perfect complement to New England’s Best
Apple Pie served from an antique wooden bowl. (B,

Hi Folks!
Kaylee (Bob and Pam’s daughter) here. I wanted to share with
you this very special tour we have planned for Christmas in New
York City. Grandma (Doris) Brenner has always made Christmas
time so special for our family, it is truly my favorite time of year.
Grandma and my mom also instilled in me a love of travel. I have
been to so many wonderful places on Brenner trips and have
met even more wonderful people! New York City is my absolute
favorite Brenner Tour, I can only iimagine how wonderful the
Big Apple will be during Christmas time! No other city has quite
the style or atmosphere of New York City, it is sure to get us in
the Christmas spirit! I hope you will join me on this exciting tour
during the most wonderful time of the year!
DAY 1: We depart Michigan traveling over the river and through
the woods (and highways!) on to New York City. Approximately 8
million people live in the city and NYC’s world-class skyline boasts
more skyscrapers second only to Hong Kong in the world. Don’t
let the thought of a trip to New York overwhelm you, I will ensure
you are equipped with all the information you need to make this
trip a memorable one! We’ll share some of our favorite Christmas
memories with our fellow passengers, and remind me to tell you
about my “purse story” from my first trip to New York City. Tonight
we will settle into our overnight accommodations in Pennsylvania
where visions of sugar plums and the New York City skyline will
dance through our dreams!
DAY 2: Today we arrive in New York City! Our first stop is Rockefeller Center. Rockefeller Center and Top of the Rock observation deck was John D. Rockefeller’s gift to Manhattan - a place
for locals and visitors to marvel at the city he loved. We will
have lunch on our own here and visit the Top of the Rock. We’ll
also see the famous Rockefeller Ice Skating Rink. Time permitting, we will have free time for shopping, sightseeing, or a visit
to the Intrepid Air & space Museum. Please note these attractions are optional and at your own expense. We’ll check into
our NYC accommodations, the Row Hotel. Completely renovated recently, the hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the
theatre district and 1 block from Times Square. Tonight we have
a welcome dinner at Carmine’s. A family-style restaurant offering Southern Italian cuisine and wow-factor sized portions, every meal feels like an italian American wedding feats! (CB, D)
DAY 3: We start our day off with a Radio City Stage Door Tour
that offers an insider’s look at the legendary Radio City Music
Hall. On this guided tour, discover art deco masterpieces, learn
the secrets of the Great Stage, meet a Rockette, plus much
more! You’re in for a treat today as we enjoy a highlight of the
New York Christmas season, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the world-famous Rockettes! This dazzling show
features a cast of 140 people complete with glamorous costumes and holiday music. We visit the 9/11 Memorial at Ground
Zero, a powerful and moving tribute dedicated to those men,
women and children killed in the terrorist attacks of 1993 and
2001. The 9/11 Museum opened in spring 2014 as the country’s
principal institution documenting the impact of those event
and exploring 9/11s continuing significance. A stop at the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan, Saint Paul’s Chapel
is also planned. We will have an early dinner at Puglia’s Restaurant tonight where we will feat on Italian delicacies and be
treated like family! (D)
DAY 4: Get ready to see much more of the city today! This morning we see the Today Show in action, perhaps you’ll get your very
own 15 seconds of fame! Afterwards a step-on guide will join us to
show us the sights of Upper and Lower Manhattan. Central Park,
Strawberry Fields, Fifth Avenue city lights and decorations, Christmas markets, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, and much more will
be seen. Dinner will take you back in time to never forgotten era
at the 1950s Ellen’s Stardust Diner. The unique diner also features
signing wait staff and variety shows. Tonight we settle into our reserved seats at a World-class Broadway show, to be determined at
a later date. (D)
DAY 5: Wear your walking shoes today as more exciting Big Apple sights await our exploration. Head into Lower Manhattan
to Battery Park for a visit to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. A
stop for lunch will be made before starting our journey home.
Overnight accommodations in Pennsylvania.
DAY 6: We journey back home, keeping with us great memories
of the world’s number one attraction, New York City. (B)
