Step 1. Remove all stickers and vents
and mask off all details that cannot be
removed. Clean the helmet; sand it with
800 sand paper to prepare it for the
graphics we will be adding. For a base
coat I will be using base white, to add
some great base effects I put several
layers of White Pearl (Sikkens) over the
base coat white. The design I will lay out
using 3M fine line tape.
Step 2. The design is laid out and we
start to mask off those areas of the helmet where we do not want to get paint
at this time. The design was laid out with
3M fine tape, using fine line tape makes
changing the design if necessary easy
and fast just by repositioning the tape.
Step 3.As you can see the areas we do
not want to paint on have been covered.
A folio (stencil) with the owners name is
made in a cutting machine (plotter). The
name folio is applied and a thin coat of
black base (Sikkens) is applied, we add
some very thin layers of silver metallic to
make a high lighted effect in the letters.

next area is masked off
and ready for paint. A silver metallic
(Standox) is applied with a thin layer of
darken shadow (drop shadow) is applied
along some of the edges.

coat I add the stickers as per the request of the customer and use screws
to plug the vent holes during the clear

coats the entire helmet will be wet
sanded to knock the surface smooth.
