CHARLESTON COUNTRY CLUB February 2014 PRESIDENT’S CORNER We are anticipating a great year at the CCC. Three new committees have been formed and are working very hard to bring about positive changes to the Club. The Membership Committee is being chaired by Bob Oetting and they are working diligently on planning a successful membership drive on April 1. The Entertainment Committee is being chaired by Jason Wavering and if you came out to the New Year’s Eve Party, you have already experienced their enthusiasm for bringing great entertainment ideas to the membership. Lastly is the Kitchen and Bar Committee chaired by John Floyd. This Committee is specifically looking at ways to please the members with food and beverage selections that will encourage members to choose the Club. They are also busy with cost analysis and labor management to provide the best experience for our members while holding to the budget. Many other departments are busy putting their Committees together for the New Year. Thank you to all the members who are generously donating their time to make this Club “the place to be.” We finished the year with a cash surplus of $63,025.08. As you have noticed, if you have been out to the Club, the gaming machines are installed and the Club will receive a percentage of the revenue on the 1st and 15th of every month. As the resources are made available to us, we will continue to make the remodeling changes to the sun porch to allow for a comfortable and inviting area to relax and enjoy the Club. UPCOMING EVENTS February 2nd 4:00pm: Super Bowl Party February 14th 5:00pm: Valentine’s Night February 19th 6:30pm: Board of Directors Meeting We hope you like the changes you are seeing at the Club and we always welcome your comments and suggestions. During the next thaw we will protect the greens again from disease. Both grey and pink snow molds can exist this time of year especially when it is wet. We tend to show the pink variety more and it has been noted with no snow cover at all. The course has been clear of both so far this season and we will continue to keep the turf protected. We are also finalizing equipment repairs and will be moving on to some fabrication for the upcoming season. Painting accessories and just simple cleanup are all important things we do through the wintertime. Agronomic and pesticide management planning will also occur. All attempts to keep the parking and walking areas clear and safe have been made. Please be careful when walking or driving in these areas. Thank you for your patience and we look forward the seeing everyone in the 2014 golf season! KITCHEN & BAR NEWS Who needs an edible arrangement when you could have a Fruit Basket Martini?
